We've made it to Bastille Day and I'm starting to miss this show. Any one got any hints about who's in negotiation for this season? Pros, stars, I don't care, I'm just wanting to hear something.

I don't have a dvr, and I'm terrible at scrolling through show guides, so when and where is this on? It was one of the first shows I watched when I got streaming a couple of years ago. I like this one a lot. And I agree, not so big on "open concept."

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I know we all hate Peloton here, but the commercial featuring the live instructor, "all my first time Peloton riders here..." I want to do her bodily harm. I would not be inspired by someone screaming encouragement and stupidity at me. I am not a candidate for spinning classes, aerobic classes or a freaking Peloton or Pelotan or Pelotin or however it's spelled, I can't even bother to look them up, I don't want their spam ads. But this one has been particularly aggravating to me lately. -
been watching the reruns, enjoying, we are now in the Peter Hunt year, played by Scott Bakula. He works so well with Candice Bergen, he's a gorgeous, sexy man and a good actor. I've also been catching the episodes on Boston Legal with him. I haven't gotten to see Quantum Leap in a While and I don't watch network tv, so no NCIS New Orleans. He's all that I said above, talented actor, gorgeous and sexy. So just what in the world was Jonathan Archer? I cannot stand him, and I've quit watching that show for Murphy Brown reruns and a guilty pleasure, Supermarket Sweep.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Me too, I live in Tulsa, in the city, I get about 30 channels over the air that I will watch and about 20 more that I block, religious, Spanish and shopping. I do wish I could get ION, I did in the last place I lived, it was on a hill. And there's a couple of channels in Muskogee I'd like to get, but I don't so that's life. I do have streaming service, but if my nephew is home and using video chat on his phone, that's the end of my movie watching. I just recently put a stop to the video chat nonsense, when he pays the bills, he can have more privileges. And to keep it on commercials - I hate AT&T, the commercials I can ignore, but I hate AT&T. -
Last night the gorgeous Esai Morales years started. I never care what show he's doing, I just enjoy watching him. The last go round when he was on I did catch his nude scene. It's one of his last episodes, I'll remember ahead of time this time even though H&I pixilates all the scenes. But it got me to thinking, did Lieutenant Fancy have one, I remember a couple scenes in his home, even one in his bedroom, but I don't remember if he got to do one of the famous scenes. I'm pretty sure Currie Graham didn't, I don't recall any scenes in his home, and same with John Irwin, I remember when he sublet Andy's apartment, but that wasn't a love scene, there were boyfriends but they were always set in the station house or at lunch. Connie got to have the funniest, she got to have Theo walk in on her in the bathroom which happen, kids walk in at inappropriate times. I guess my mind is just in the gutter tonight! The character on the show I feel so sorry for is Katy, Andy's first wife, she's on the show currently and while she has her own drinking problem and she got heavily involved with AA, but speaking from personal experience, she needed Al-Anon as well. Andy cares about her, but he's just not that into her and she knows it. She deserves better treatment than she gets from Andy and if she had gone to Al-Anon as well as AA, she could have helped herself more. While the programs are based on the same steps and have some similar focuses, they are different programs. In the early years with Sylvia, she went to Al-Anon and I was always glad the show put that as part of the plot line. Ok, the end of my late night before sleep ramblings.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I don't mean to double post, but this is an entirely different topic of annoyance. So, there it is. I watch a lot of channels of reruns of old shows and reality crime, I've discovered I like Escape better than ID Discovery. I don't know why, but the last week or so, an ad for a program on Bounce is getting heavy rotation on the old people channels. Saints and Sinners, or Sinners and Saints, I don't really know, it looks a lot like an updated nighttime soap and I quit soaps many years ago. But the theme song with the commercial is annoying the heck out of me. It's probably somebody famous, but what do I know? I listen to the Everly Brothers and Doo Wop. Anyway, the song is heavy with vibrato and it goes with the vibrato about 6 stanzas too many. I probably wouldn't pay attention except that the song annoys the stuffing out of me. And I debated whether this belonged on commercials that annoy or on previews. I still don't really know. -

Janie Jones is your dog pit bull scary? Mine is a 60 lb ball of anxiety. He may be scary to some people, but so far, he's loved everyone but my great-nephew because he doesn't like to be yelled at and my nephew yells. He's the kind of person who thinks dogs have to be intimidated, and I think that redirection is a good way to change behavior. Ok, maybe my post would be better on Pit Bulls and Parolees or Cesar Milan groups. But I doubt that anyone could walk my dog. I can't, he's half my body weight, much younger and much stronger. We need a trainer. -

Sheryl's She Shed ads don't affect me much one way or another, but you know the actors had a good time making them. Probably had to do several takes because they were cracking up. -

I guess I'll have to look up Vera Bradley. I haven't a clue. Since I've retired, I do not carry a purse, there are times, I'd like to have a decent tote bag that my nephew hasn't stolen and used for some crap of his. But sometimes when I have to go to the doctor's, carry my Kindle or stop off at the pharmacy, it would be nice to have a tote. I used to pick up nice looking ones at flea markets or thrift stores, but since I have to taxi everywhere, I don't get out like I used to and because I taxi everywhere is why I need one. I goggled images. I wouldn't carry most of those. I grew up before backpacks were used by kids everywhere and I find them unwieldy. -
Julianne, please lay off the eyeliner. I have trouble listening to anything she says because I'm constantly wondering how she got so much gunk on her eyes. Ok, I pretty much have trouble listening to anything she says anyway since her days as judge on DWTS.

been watching the Rick Schroeder years the last couple of weeks. I don't particularly like the character, but I think I underrated the actor for the longest time. He really has some good delivery of some of the most convoluted lines David Milch could fashion. And he did good reactions to other actors too. I understand the actor is going through some tough personal things, I don't know exactly what has been going on his life, but I hope he is able to work things out and get help if he needs it.

I guess I'm old or I've been poor all my life or something, but I don't get "prestige brands." My sister seems to think that a celebrity putting their name on something makes it somewhat better quality, I think it's just adding to the price. Pioneer Woman at Walmart is still pots/pans/dishes purchased at Walmart. If you like them, go ahead, but Pioneer Woman isn't any better than Faberware. And I think some of her dishware is kind of pretty, she uses colors I like. But for clothing, purses, shoes, nope, if a designer, prestige brand wants me to advertise for them, wear their name across my boobs or butt or feet, they're going to have to pay to rent the space. Shoes, underwear, I want new, the rest of it, I'm happy with thrift stores and flea markets. -
Star Trek: Voyager - General Discussion

talking to myself again, as usual. I thought B'Laina was half Klingon and half human. So are Klingons and Vulcans related races? I don't remember Worf going through Pom'far (however it's spelled) but on the episode tonight, on H&I, a Vulcan shipmate, not Tuvoc, but I don't remember his name, he was in Pom'far and on a planet they were on B'Laina was also going through Pom'far. Then they fought and then there's the implication that Tom Paris and B'Laina took care of what they needed to in an old fashioned way (even if it was a little rough). Am I just confused or are they related or were the writers of Voyager rewriting histories? -
Oh, thank you Teaolas, (I hope I remembered the correct spelling, I had to scroll down the entire page!) I had forgotten about the streaker sheep. Makes me laugh still!

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
friendperidot replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
It was funny in my neighborhood growing up. In the summer we all went out to play after dinner with instructions to come in when it started to get dark. If kids were still out playing all the parents had different ways of calling us home. Bells, whistles and just plain hollering. It was a symphony every night. I grew up in that same kind of neighborhood, and no daylight savings time! So it was dark around 8 and we would play hide 'n seek for an hour or so on most nights, then we all had to go inside because Dad's had jobs where they had to get up early, so we all went to bed early. Also, nobody's house had a/c so that hour after dark was for cooling down the insides of the house, all windows were open all the time, a couple of box fans was all anyone had. We had basements for those unbearable days or when it rained, but most of the time, we were outside, swing sets, bicycles, sandboxes and dirt piles, we had to use imagination. Our backyard was sloped, and we had a big tree just off the backporch, had a tire swing that provided endless hours of entertainment for many neighborhood kids. And we had to stay out because my mom was in her dark, quiet room. Very few mom's worked and if you misbehaved, your mom knew about it before you were home, which was immediately if you were bad enough. It was one street, but it was a village. No one's mom hesitated to correct anyone's bad behavior, no spankings, those were reserved for children of that parent, but we were sent home if necessary. And I have no clue how to make this about any commercial! -

I love buying donated old towels, they make great dog towels! I buy a couple for my dogs, buy some for donating to animal shelters, old blankets too, great for donating to homeless shelters or animal shelters, depends on the shape of the blankets. My own dogs get my old blankets. This winter we're going to fix a couple of shelters outside for some of the feral cats and I will cut old blankets to put into those shelters. Old blankets might go in the cat shelters too. -

saw one during Murphy Brown last night, complete with simpering sex kitten whispering to all the old men/sugar daddy wannabes and incels, but I don't think either of those groups watch Murphy Brown. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
friendperidot replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
In a small defense of the mom/daughter playing pirate/princess, I don't like the ad, but I grew up with a mom with migraines, she would lock herself in her dark, quiet room for basically days. It was the 50s and there was nothing for migraine relief, doctors all told migraine sufferers it was their imaginations. Then I grew up and I had the migraines that would make me miss days of life. Since the early 2000s, there have been amazing advances in migraine treatment. I've tried most of them and cannot use most of them. Tryptans (I have no idea of the spelling) give me rebound headaches and horrible stiff necks that are worse than the original. But with menopause came some relief. I also take blood pressure medication that helps the horrible headaches. I still get as many as ever - damn near daily, but a couple of Walmart brand Excedrin takes it away. I don't use Tylenol, just aspirin based meds. After many years of suffering, many trips to ERs and throwing up in triage offices (gets you in to see a doctor more quickly - but I've never been able to throw up on demand, it happens naturally with those nightmare headaches), anyway, I apologized to my mom for being part of the brat pack - included my brother and sister. I didn't have children, but my mother would have welcomed a medication that would have let her spend more time with her family and not being miserably sick. I would have welcomed medication that would have allowed me to spend more time being human. So, I cut the mom a little slack. I dislike the commercial, but I dislike most commercials, especially those for prescription medications. And Nugenix - I hate those freaking ads and the big hammer (or whatever) with all the simpering fools gathering around him at the gym. -

So what executive decided that viewers of Murphy Brown reruns would be interested in sex/dating telephone talk lines? -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I never feel that it's right to hate on kids in commercials, but I am really annoyed by that little girl in the Morning Star food truck pushing some kind of veggie burger. "It's a plant, and if I like it and I'm a kid so if I like it..." I don't even mind some of the Morning Star foods, their mozzarella cheese sticks aren't terrible and I can heat up the 2 or 3 I want and put the rest back in the freezer for another snack day. Faint praise, but I only like mozzarella cheese sticks once in a while and only a few at a time. Same for jalapeno poppers, one or two is enough for a snack. (And that is how I've lost 35 lbs in 3 1/2 years - moderation and exercise, I know, the hated "e" word.) -
Doug is 70? Oh, I guess he might be, I'll be 69 in a few weeks. What happened to the time? How did this happen? "We are the people our parents warned us about."

I worked for a couple of years at Hancock Fabrics, we wore an apron/vest thing over our clothes. It was mostly to identify us as employees, but sometimes moving a lot of bolts of fabrics could be dirty, yes, we the employees dusted and moved stuff in our spare time, we did have an employee whose only job was janitorial, sweeping and dusting, etc., but everyone had to dust if they found dusty places. But, the bigger reason was pockets! As most women know, there are no pockets in women's clothing. At a fabric store, we all had our own scissors, (owned by the store, but claimed and used exclusively by one employee) and if you didn't mark them and carry them on your person, they could walk off. Kind of like waiters mark and carry their own pens, they walk off, not always intentional stealing, just someone taking them. And, as an employee, you picked up all kinds of little things as you walked around the store, small packages of notions that had been opened and one or two missing, couldn't leave those on the hooks for sale, had to turn them into the manager, later, they'd be in a sidewalk sale heavily discounted. But you didn't always have time to take them to the manager, so they went in the pockets and were turned in later when you weren't busy. And, people do pilfer one or two of whatever they need instead of buying the package. As a customer, I don't want all the buttons, snaps, locked behind glass, I want to be able to hold them and look for the ones I want. And it's probably more expensive to have an employee manning a locked case of notions than having $1-$5 pilfered here and there.

As Seen On TV: Does ANY of this crap work?

well, I thought maybe the whoo hoo lady that lives on a ranch in Texas was gone from the Murphy Brown ad rotation, apparently she was only taking a couple of days off. But the books for Annuity Dos and Don'ts for Baby Boomers is still available, guess the limited quantities haven't flown off the shelves yet. -
