Spoiler Discussion Thread: The Sequel
insomniadreams88 replied to Door County Cherry's topic in Arrow
What's hurting the show right now, for me at least, is the lack of interviews and the lockdown on spoilers. We should hear from Beth. We should have more than quotes from conventions from actors, especially now that Oliver is out of prison and they don't have to try to keep when he'd be out a secret. There's a difference between keeping spoilers from leaking and giving fans nothing. Hopefully that changes leading up to the midseason premiere. -

True. You could argue they had to make basically the entire SCPD (or a large chunk of it, at least, including all of her superiors) corrupt to make her captain. Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to when whoever's part of the SCPD attacking vigilantes in the future turns on Dinah? Unfortunately, it's not going to happen this season and we might be stuck with police captain Dinah Drake for the rest or most of the rest of the present-day timeline of the series. -
I could have sworn I saw someone post a screenshot on Twitter of someone asking SA on his FB page and he said he couldn't remember?

Yep. If she's Thea and Roy's kid, I'd expect William to know of her at the very least, even seen a photo at some point even if they haven't met (for whatever reason). Also, are we to "believe" that their kid has gone evil along with Felicity? Sure, two members of that family (by blood/marriage/etc.) are suddenly totally evil and want to destroy the city? I didn't watch Dinah closely enough during the FFs, but is it possible that she knows who Maya is and is trying to see if William does? Sort of a, "hmm, can I still trust him to just follow what I'm saying, does he know her or has he picked up that he might be in front of someone he's related to?" I don't know, I feel like this: is the only way to describe everything FF-related. -

I'm going with no one cares about Dinah or would recognize her if she wasn't wearing a hood/fighting cops. Roy, on the other hand, does something so heroic and memorable in the past 20 years or whatever (because I don't think it's just that he said he was the Arrow in S3) that everyone knows his face. Yep. Even if Felicity went all evil, which is very unlikely, I still have yet to hear anything that even suggests why. All Dinah says is she changed. -

Yeah, I had taken her comment to mean that Rene was long gone and probably wouldn't show up fo some time -- or maybe I just wanted that to be the case? Now it's basically, "ugh, I have to sneak into The Glades, which probably isn't as challenging as we're making it seem." I do hope that when Zoe goes to The Glades that we start getting a better idea of what's going on in the future, not through Dinah's eyes. Because as we saw last year, NTA has a weird way of seeing things ("Rene betrayed you to the FBI, but we totally trust him instead of OTA." "Rene went after Oliver with an axe, but Oliver's the bad guy." etc.). -

I think the problem isn't necessarily the Olicity cliffhanger. It's when we got it. I think it would be different if we didn't have the crossover and we were getting a regular episode next week. Instead, we have the crossover (with a lot going on, so if there's any sort of resolution, it will probably feel rushed and maybe not even on Arrow) and then a break until January. Also, I'd probably feel better about it if 708 didn't show so much of Oliver with Dinah and Rene (and set up even more scenes just like that, when the focus should have been/should be on Oliver and Felicity) and didn't make me think that they're going to completely ignore that no one wanted to help Felicity. The longer they go without bringing that up, the more I feel like it's never going to happen. -

Yep. I love how Oliver reacts to hearing Felicity loves him, just in the last half a season's worth of episodes. 708 in this scene, 621, 618 ... -
The Starling City Times: News and Media about Arrow
insomniadreams88 replied to Grammaeryn's topic in Arrow
That seems to be Dinah’s reasoning ... without any proof to back it up except she says Felicity went totally evil. So if that’s what the writers want us to think now, they’ve succeeded with some people? -
Just another reason I would love it if Dinah turns out to be the bad guy. Everything William (and Roy)(and therefore the audience) is learning about the future so far is from Dinah. Now, Maya is offering another story (maybe the real one?). Seriously, in one episode I'm already so much more invested in Maya's story in the future than I am in anything Dinah-related past, present, future, sideways timeline, etc.

You know what I don't like? Anyone (i.e., Laurel in this episode) describing Felicity as "ruthless." According to the dictionary, "ruthless" is defined as "having or showing no pity or compassion for others." That is not Felicity.

I just wish we'd get a Beth interview. Wouldn't now be the perfect time for one? Talk about Oliver being out of prison and working for the SCPD, Olicity, Felicity/Blackstar/FFs, Emiko, Diggle/ARGUS/Diaz, etc. I get not wanting spoilers to get out, but come on, give us something. -

I honestly won't be surprised if they semi-resolve Olicity's conflict in the crossover (which episode, who knows?), at least enough that it wouldn't feel like they freeze them in time until the midseason premiere, unless they don't do a regular time jump and have 710 pick up semi-soon after the crossover. That's the problem with the placement of the crossover this season (without getting into crossover talk). We have 708, which feels like a MSF. However, past years have shown that they resolve storylines during the crossover (and not even on the characters' show's episode). This year, the next 100%-Arrow episode isn't airing until January. Say they have X number of weeks pass between the crossover and 710 and nothing changes about their relationship during the crossover. Either Oliver and Felicity will have talked things out off-screen (which will annoy me because I want to see all of this on-screen) or will be avoiding talking about their problems for some stupid reason that will really be just because they need to wait for it to happen on-screen. You know what bothers me the most about this, too? Oliver has people he can talk to about what's going on. We'll probably see him talk to Diggle. I wouldn't be surprised if he talks to Dinah, too, just because Dinah's everywhere right now. Felicity has ... no one. No, really, tell me one person Felicity could actually talk to about this. -

You know what's annoying me the most about Oliver working for the SCPD (other than the fact it means more Dinah, ugh)? He's still presumably there in 712, going by the BTS photo. But will we see Felicity as Overwatch in his ear again or are those days over (for now, at least)? Sure, that means we could see Felicity starting up Smoak Tech, but I miss her as Overwatch. -
I find it so strange (stupid) that they’re so determined to make us think Felicity has gone evil that apparently the only way to do that is to show no one has her back in the present or future. Also, I’m annoyed that Dinah’s talking about knowing Oliver/seeing parts of him in William/whatever that was when she (and Curtis and Rene) hated OTA last season and we’ve never really seen her become friends with anyone but Diggle. It really feels like a “well, she’s BC (or at least one of them)” thing.
-
Because now Oliver and Dinah are sort of partners in the present. You expect continuity? What’s that?
-
Okay, so basically we’re not seeing any reason they had to turn to Diaz instead of, say, having Felicity (or Curtis, ugh) do some digging? I’m going to be so annoyed if what Diaz tells them (probably in exchange for something that puts Oliver, Felicity or William in danger, because why not?) could have been found by someone doing some online digging for a couple hours. Ugh, why can’t we get rid of Diaz?

I feel like William and Maya playing some kind of long game would be better than anything else this could (and might) turn out to be. There was definitely something about it that was different from how she acted the rest of the scene. It has to mean something because it was really obvious. Wonder if Zoe’s going to go find her dad and find Maya with Rene (and maybe one or two other people we know). I don’t know what to make of Zoe. Does she just follow Dinah? If Dinah turns out to be evil (come on, Arrow, give this to me), is she too or is she in the dark?
