  1. 6 of 41 Survivor champs have been African-American. Or 14.6%. African-Americans make up 12-13% of the population of the United States. Just sayin’
  2. I really had to laugh after the first episode. They spent the whole show talking about how diverse the show is. So the whitest team wins - with pot roast.
  3. Kim and Penn are so used to living their lives in the (self-imposed) spotlight, i never can tell if they’re being real. It seems like they are always “on.” They kinda remind me of the horrible Weavers from the family race.
  4. Granddaughter Sarah has the personality of a wide-eyed washcloth. The Transcriber serves no purpose, and the Bailiff is no Byrd. On the old show, JJ would summarize the case in a minute and a half and keep it moving. I think they saved the money to afford the Granddaughter and Transcriber by firing the Editor. Skipping the In-Chambers chat makes the show go faster because the Washcloth adds nothing.
  5. Time and time again, female chefs complain to the camera that they disagree with other teammates, but then back down to keep the peace. Maria railed against Gabriel because he was assertive, however she backed down in this episode about the amount of her molé. And what did the judges say? There should have been more molé. You can’t complain about assertiveness when she herself should have exhibited some herself. If you believe in your dish, fight for it, don’t back down.
  6. I long for the days of when when Top Chef was about cooking and not about “personalities.” That was the ONE thing this show had over all others. Now, the producers stock the contestants with indecisive, ineffectual people who can only cook one type of food, no matter the challenge, but as long as they smile and can tell a joke, the fans just love them. Padma: Next week on Top Chef, we change things up a little . . . Maria makes a molé!
  7. I love that Delia keeps reminding Billy that her death is HIS fault. (You can’t protect Johnny and Katie any more than you did me.) Billy continues to lash out at Adam to bury his own responsibility in her death.
  8. The so-called Five Team Alliance reminds me of some of the worst seasons of Survivor, where it’s basically a duck shoot and non-alliance players are picked off one by one based solely on numbers. No excitement, very boring. And this season looks like it will fall along those lines.
  9. Today Summer says she really believed Kyle was in love with her the first time she married him? Was she watching a different show than we all were? She blackmailed Kyle into marrying her, knowing full well he only agreed to marry her to save Lola’s life. Is this a rewrite or just to show how delusional Summer really is?
  10. I caught the elimination clip on YouTube and no matter what the voices are saying in her earwig, or whatever is written on the cards, there were THREE couples standing right in front of Ms. Banks. She should be paying attention. And I see what everyone is saying when she’s announcing people who are safe, she’s so somber. She’s announcing a good thing, be happy about it. BTW: The lack of group dances has nothing to do with Tyra’s supposed tweaks, it’s because of COVID.
  11. Tyra’s Scrapped Ideas In this article she claims she herself scrapped many of her ideas to change the show. Scrapped? Or forced to scrap? She wouldn’t elaborate further. They kept her over-the-top hairstyles, her drag-queenish persona, her awkward interview style, her hideous wardrobe, multiple costume changes and her unnecessarily forcing herself into every aspect of the show including being the focus of all promotional materials when before, it was the dancers. How bad were the ideas she had to abandon when she kept these “good” ones?
  12. Well, we finally know how Courtney Hope enters the show. Phyllis matter-of-factly mentions her sister!
  13. And Phyllis says the magic words “I have a sister.” Hello Courtney Hope!
  14. Will Billy’s ruthless escapade with Summer ever some to light? That’s an unexploded land mine just waiting for Chelsea and Adam to dig up. Especially with Summer and Kyle being so “happy?”
  15. She had money? She had Devon’s money, which remained his upon her death.
  16. Probably the same words going through my head, especially remembering how Hilary actually was, before her death, and not as she was rewritten post mortem.
  17. Y&R had a few scenes of Lily questioning Billy about the hiring practices of ChanceCom as it relates to diversity. I was a little amused at this, especially coming from a show that segregates its African-American characters into storylines that do not intermingle with the White characters. Why is that? The Rosales family was introduced and its members immediately became ensconced in every major storyline. Yet African-American characters are introduced and “relegated” to the “B” storylines. Their scenes are almost always solely with other African-Americans. Billy appears to be the only White character who interacts with his African-American co-stars. (He seems to have taken Cane’s place since his departure.) Y&R should clean up its own house before shining that light outward.
  18. This show just grows more and more offensive every day. First Tom and Erin are unceremoniously fired. Then Tyra Banks is allowed to bring her crude brand of cable reality tawdriness to what was once a family show. And now . . . Carole Baskin? I was willing to give the show a chance, but that trailer was just beyond ludicrous. I don’t know what the new demographic is supposed to be, but it’s certainly not loyal viewers. Goodbye DWTS.
  19. Was Tom contractually obligated to wear that snow suit when he first appeared on camera? The chefs are in shirt sleeves but Tom looked like he just stepped off the slopes at Cortina d’Ampezzo, stupid hat and all.
  20. Nice to see BV smile and laugh in this past episode. He usually is so miserable because of that stick up his butt.
  21. On today’s episode, Dr. Phil looked legitimately spooked by Tara. He managed to ciruitously call her a “nutball.” He cut her off from going off on rambling tangents at every opportunity. They allow her around students? Or is that also one of her delusions?
  22. Can we admit the “Rosales Experiment” was a complete and utter failure? Was it in the execution of plan? https://soapdirt.com/young-and-the-restless-did-not-fire-tyler-johnson-sasha-calle-as-theo-lola/
  23. I only made it to the 42-minute mark before I had to turn this mess off. They barely showed any cooking, it was 90% testimonials with over-the-top Brian Malarkey hogging all of the screen time. This was certainly produced and edited differently than your typical Top Chef episode - show cooking for 10 seconds, then 2 minutes of Nini uptalking, then another 10 seconds, then 2 minutes of old clips Maybe it’ll get back to normal in later episodes. Until then, I’m out.
  24. In a few weeks, it too much to ask for the show to have Hope wake up on Catalina on New Year’s Day with a smiling Liam holding their beautiful new daughter? Hope regales a shocked Liam about a vivid, bizarre dream she had, where everyone in town kept reliving the same day over and over? And for some reason Thomas kept falling off things? And when asked about Flo, Liam says “Who’s Flo?”
