  1. And miss the shocked reactions of the other diners as the conversation turned into shouting? Not a chance.
  2. Buying the stuff on that website is difficult enough. Can you imagine trying to return something?
  3. This is a link to Stan Watkin's company, Ecasi Consulting: http://www.ecasiconsulting.com/. What I gather from skimming the site is that Ecasi doesn't fund businesses but helps find lenders who will. It's possible that TLC was the "lender," I imagine. Ecasi consults start ups on managing and growing the business. The "Our Solutions" section on the home page, "nine easy steps to success," is priceless when applied to the Browns, who appear not to have applied a single one to MSWC.
  4. @Ripley68that video of Michelle and the bridal lady is awesome in the way they both totally ignore the random stuff going on behind them. Too funny.
  5. A professional seamstress also would have made the hems even. It looks as if the white panels were last-minute additions. The shoes are just wrong. That said, I think Derrick looks like one of the Scott twins (Drew and Jonathan of Property Brothers), whom I find attractive. Jill looks beautiful and happy.
  6. I think they should just stop pretending to work and get on a crowd funding site--one that doesn't require a serious illness or massive natural disaster to qualify. They could tell their sad stories of fleeing imminent persecution, needing a wet bar to display snacks, wanting to add another baby to the dozens, having to plan and staff a celestial planet, needing a private college education, or whatever entitlement they can think of. The fans would send money, and the website of ugly jewelry could die a natural death.
  7. Alas, I checked into this episode only twice. David Tennant on Masterpiece was much more entertaining. However, I managed to see Kody furrow his brow to look concerned about what his wives were saying, and the wives talking about how wrong they were to doubt Kody's wisdom to move to Las Vegas in the middle of the night. Then they all had a party to celebrate the King's awesomeness. The show seems to be out of plot lines.
  8. Remember, hearty target demographic, we have to help Kody "build his empire." That comment irked me as much as the everything turns to gold nonsense. The website seems to be quiet tonight. I guess the curiosity checking doesn't last long past the end of the episode. I put an ugly, overpriced watch into my shopping cart to see if the website checkout was secure. Nope. It just wanted me to enter my credit card information. Bye, bye.
  9. The replacement surgery can make a huge difference. I think I read that Jen had had both hips done between 2001 and 2009. She has a slight limp or wobble when she walks. I notice it because the condition is on my radar now. However, she has also had spinal alignment issues. Thirty surgeries is simply amazing.
  10. It will be telling to see which one wife gets blame for the jewelry fiasco. They all had a hand in this farce.
  11. I just had a hip replacement. The operation itself wasn't too bad (thank you, modern medicine) but involved a long recovery with hours of physical therapy. However, the condition leading up to the surgery was months of pure agony. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone. I'm sure Bill and Jen know it well.
  12. I stand corrected on the port. Jen calls it that in the show too. I also noticed the scar on the back of her neck. I believe both she and Bill have had hip surgery (replacements?) too. I admire them for embracing life so fully and cheerfully in the face of ongoing physical pain.
  13. Briana may yet be my favorite. She is very pretty and looked awesome in that bikini. She also seems to be intelligent, mature and a caring mother. Her ex-husband managed to present himself as a real tool. The backward baseball cap sort of topped it off.
  14. Congratulations to Jill and Derrick. It looks like a happy time for them and I wish them well. I like the style of the dress and prefer it to the strapless every-dress trend. However, I don't think it fits well on the top. The shoulder straps look a bit long and the waist not cinched enough, but it's difficult to tell from one photo. The bottom of the dress and the length look perfect. I hope JimBob let his daughter have the dress of her choice. I also hope Derrick's mother can be a part of their lives. She seems nice and a good influence on the young, sheltered Jill. It would be wonderful if this couple can explore the possibilities in their lives and not just pump out a hoard of single-letter-named children to fulfill expectations.
  15. This show reminds me of Trading Spaces, albeit with slightly more adult supervision (looking at you, Hildi). At least Drew and Jonathan inspect the work. Still, there isn't enough time for nonprofessionals to do some of these projects properly. I guess the homeowners are desperate for free renovations and hope for the best.
  16. Jen's dress even covered her PICC line. That was a detail that she appreciated. If I ever have a wedding vow renewal ceremony--unlikely--this would be it.
  17. In the Jewelry Collection, the default sort mixes the expensive and the cheap pieces in a random way so a $19 piece shows up next to a $139 piece. The effect is jarring because the stuff all looks the same. Sterling silver pieces are identified if you bother to dig around for the information, but other pieces are also called silver because of the color. My favorite items are the Genuine GOLD and Genuine SILVER watches for $26.99 each. Apparently, Genuine is the line or model name and is simply stuck in front of the metal color. There's no product description. That's deceptive and confusing. And tacky to boot. How can an online retailer expect to sell without accurate, detailed specifications for every product? Amateur hour. Sadly, I think even if the Browns got the venture capital, the core problems wouldn't get fixed. There would be just more of the same.
  18. I liked the adult-centered aspect of this episode too. The kids are adorable, but Bill and Jen are intelligent, accomplished people on their own and I enjoy seeing their stories. In a totally unconnected thought--Jen's dress was beautiful, but I think I would have been batting the skirt down the whole time to avoid it flying up over my head. It almost made me nervous to watch.
  19. I felt bad for Elena when the doctor showed her the x-rays because her condition appears to involve a lack of cartilage in her joints. That can be extremely painful, and I suspect the doctor mentioned that joint replacement surgeries are probably in her future. She's beautiful and comes across as very sweet.
  20. Kody said a couple of times that lead shark Stan had been a friend for a long time. Perhaps that's why he appeared on the show. No serious investor would put 2 mill into this mess. Anyway, it was never clear to me what the Browns would do with the money. Something about a marketing plan to entice browsers to buy, but I never heard a coherent plan. More ugly overpriced jewelry? Wet bar decorations? Sex manuals? Rubberbands for ponytails? Autographed photos of the Browns? I guess the possibilities are limitless. Their pitch looked like a typical undergraduate presentation that had been pulled together at the last minute. I've seen many over the years. Meri will be able to do lots of these in college.
  21. That picture of Jessa with the gun creepily takes me back to this one of Patty Hearst as Tania.
  22. Dr. Paul Wendel is a high-risk ob/gyn. The "fertility specialist" label is just another little Duggar joke on us. He is a well qualified and apparently highly respected specialist. My little online search suggests while he doesn't belong to the Duggars' religious circle, he holds similar "right to life" views. That may be why he agreed to appear on this silly show in that supremely silly episode. I remember Michelle saying something about if she should conceive, she wanted to be sure she could carry the pregnancy. Dr. Wendel would be a good choice in that situation.
  23. Robin doesn't come across as especially bright/normal, and he's obsessed with the moon door. Is anyone at the Vale watching out for him now? I wonder if Baelish's marriage to Lysa gives him any authority over young Rob.
  24. I won't argue with the property tax records. Technically, they could probably designate part of their house as a business or charity if they used it exclusively for that purpose. The key word is exclusively. They could never claim the whole house is a church or charity because obviously they live there as a home. However, if they don't get a tax break for that restaurant kitchen, they should wash some dishes there and quit with the paper plates and cups.
  25. As much as I hate Michelle's baby voice, her beady, empty eyes bother me more. Try watching her with the sound off. She looks like a coiled spring ready to explode. That said, the biggest issue I have with Mullet and her consort is that they don't educate their children. Millions of people around the world would love to send their children to school to have a better life but are too poor to make it happen. These fools, who are rolling in money, keep their kids slightly above literacy. I can't see how the family is legally a charity, but I suspect the home church and the parts of their home used for it (basement, industrial kitchen, heat and power, etc.) are solid tax write offs. I bet Jim Bob isn't too cheap to hire some good financial advisors. Just read the previous post on this issue. Parts of a home used for certain purposes can be taxed differently. Also, honestly, just because JB and Michelle claim something, it isn't necessarily true. Just look at Michelle's parenting blog.
