  1. It's baffling that NCW, GRRM, and anyone else connected with the show seem to be unaware of the difference between fans responding to nonsensical writing and fans simply not liking a particular outcome.
  2. http://collider.com/why-did-jon-kill-dany-game-of-thrones-finale/ Clarke saying, "Um, he just doesn't like women does he? He keeps fucking killing them" is amusing.
  3. The best ending would have been Sansa, as Queen of the North, has to behead Jon for deserting the Wall to live with the wildings. She could quote Ned about swinging the sword. Bran could watch as he tells Jon thank you for telling me not to look away all those years ago.
  4. The Night King, Jon's parentage, Dany being fireproof and birthing dragons, Bran becoming the 3ER, all the skills Arya learned, and direwolves all seem like a great story that becomes pointless. It was never more than a Game of Thrones between the Lannisters and Tyrion prevailed if he's the one who ends up ruling.
  5. https://wikiofthrones.com/25533/emilia-clarke-reveals-she-knew-daenerys-targaryens-plot-twist-for-two-years/ If she knew for two years I'm not sure why reading the script messed her up so much.
  6. It will be interesting to see if they give Dany any moments of remorse or if that part of her is completely lost. Martin would have given POV and not having that makes it so much harder for so many to reconcile it in so few episodes. It's understandable that those who have loved her character struggle with this.
  7. Bran being evil would be interesting. So much time was devoted to the NK/Others and Dany and the dragons but not Bran after he becomes the 3ER. Since Bran is the only one of those storylines left when Dany and possibly Drogon are dead, it has to mean something to Martin at least. D&D have made Bran as mysterious as possible with all the sitting, staring, and throwing out a few lines to show he knows something. They carefully make sure no one spends any time with him except Tyrion but won't reveal what was said. I keep thinking they must be saving some moment to show how clever they are in surprising us. Bran being King makes no sense based on what we've been shown. It would surprise me if Bran is just evil and has been plotting to get on the throne for that reason. But, that would be too much like Dany suddenly goes crazy. I want him to have more purpose than that.
  8. Maybe Bran's usefulness isn't about being King but his role in destroying Fire and Ice. He was involved in the Night King's death and Dany and Dragons would be the other. It's hard to believe he's evil or that he'd be a traditional King and but maybe a manipulator. That's the only way his role would be at all interesting. I loved his storyline in the books and D&D make him look idiotic so hopefully that's more about them than about Martin intended for the 3ER. They gave the NK death to Arya so maybe it's because Jon has to be the one to destroy the other.
  9. Bran manipulating events so that Jon kills Dany and then dies would work. Maybe Bran will remind him of his warging abilities and gives him time to hop into Ghost. Then he gets to go to the North and reunite with Tormund. It's not quite like petting Ghost but close enough.
  10. Jon killing Dany with most of the main characters surviving seems too neatly wrapped up. Bran manipulating events is the only ending that would be satisfying to me at this point.
  11. Maybe HBO will do a Game of Thrones interactive show like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch to prolong the agony for fans
  12. Thanks. In reading all the different thoughts about Dany and others, it's been helpful in considering that my way of describing her in a sentence or two wasn't fair. She was well fleshed out with good traits, the ability to show love and vulnerability, and a desire to be a good leader. There was a great deal of inner struggle going on for her and times I cheered for her and times I worried about how ruthless she might become in her desire for the IT.
  13. Thanks. This is a fascinating way of viewing Bran. I enjoyed Bran's story in the books and explaining Bran's ability during the last episode would make him much more interesting.
  14. True enough for GRRM. I'm just not convinced that he would give Cersei and Jaime the same way of dying but in some sort of twisted way maybe this counts as her brothers being involved in her death.
  15. If you're asking if I think the books gave her power through the dragons that she wouldn't have had otherwise, then yes. However, I never viewed her as evil or thought she was capable of using her dragons to slaughter innocent people needlessly when if she won the IT.
  16. Tyrion was one of my favorites until the last book. I hoped GRRM would change that but if the show version is what he became, he's a major disappointment. Wanting to save the innocent from dying is understandable but it all being mixed in with wanting to help Jaime and Cersei escape ruins him for me.
  17. I didn't imagine Dany ending up on the IT and ruling as the end game. I also didn't imagine her descent into madness and destroying KL after they surrendered. Both in the books and on the show, declaring her titles, demanding everyone bend the knee, and her right to the throne became tiresome. I wanted her to learn to become a leader who didn't need dragons to threaten people into submission. Her power was having dragons and she used that power to destroy the lives of so many innocent people. This seems like a believable GRRM ending for her but possibly with it being more heartbreaking. We read and/or watched her grow from an innocent young girl to becoming consumed by her belief in birthright and the need to be loved and admired for it. At this point, it's difficult to feel any sympathy for her. It will seem odd though if the writers give her a death that is brutal while letting Cersei go out in the arms of Jaime.
  18. I agree. Sansa and Arya have payed tons of dues and have grown from the young girls they were. Sansa stopped being interesting when others had to be dumbed down to show how smart she was. I don't have a problem with book Sansa or show Sansa growing and learning from all she's experienced. I have a problem with the writing of her character to support whatever end result D&D were going for.
  19. Story Sansa and Arya were never going to like story Dany because she was headed for a major breakdown and the men needed to be warned. Dany wasn't going to make any friends in Westeros. Everyone was reduced to snide remarks, facial expressions, and one-liners to save realm from Dany.
  20. Knowing what the writers were going to do with Dany, Sansa and Arya were used to to warn Jon, Tyrion, and whoever else needed a heads-up. It didn't have an organic feel to it. It had the same feel as last season where there was tension created between Arya and Sansa so they could surprise us with the LF episode. Sansa has been used to create tension with other characters to get to the ending of whatever story is being told.
  21. If Bran could be the one responsible for this mess in order to take over the Throne, it would make watching this season worthwhile. I'd have to toast D&D for surprising me by being such amazing writers. 🙂
  22. I'll just be happy to never see Cersei smirking and Sansa doing anything with her eyes again.
  23. The previous 3-eyed Raven hid out in a cave and gave no helpful history to anyone until Bran gets there and then he's all about sharing. If Bran is the King or on the council, I can only hope he can speak in complete sentences and someone is writing it down so history isn't lost. So far, what he shares is more like soap opera family drama. Jon needed to know who he was, Littlefinger needed to know Bran knew what he said to Ned, Jaime needed to know Bran remembered the things he did for love, and so on. Not a word about what was going on in KL or Euron. If he isn't supposed to give information that can change the outcome or prepare others with the knowledge that is available to him, what would be the point of him being King?
  24. Haha! Excellent point. Poor Dany. She didn't understand history or she would know that Dorne wouldn't like her and wouldn't love Jon more.
  25. Jon was written as incapable of having an actual conversation with Dany after finding out who he was. He was reduced to "You're my Queen, I love you" but nothing of any significance. Dany was reduced to "They love you more than me." The citizens of KL didn't know Jon so couldn't possibly love him more than Dany. Once she won the city it would have left the other Houses to deal with so it makes no sense for her to burn the entire city to the ground without any concern for her allies/armies being fried along with them. Apparently that's the insanity part. The only way that works is if she flies off, rests her dragon, and then heads off to burn every other House in the Kingdom. But again, the insanity will be that she lets Jon or anyone else within stabbing distance of her.
