  1. What is happening in Alexia's talking head with the white outfit and the red lipstick??? At least I know what's going to haunt my nightmares tonight! I could watch the scene where they are all on the phone with Lisa giving her advice about Lenny ("Cut off the sleeves of his shirts!", "Change the locks!") about 50 times.
  2. I realize this is unimportant in the greater scheme of things, and even the greater scheme of this show, but why is Alexia's tagline "I bring the fire" when Adriana is the one literally singing a song about bringing the fire?
  3. This is an incredibly good season of television.
  4. Lenny is the absolute worst but 1) He's 100% correct that a broken wrist does not require an ambulance and 2) He and Lisa had just been shown drinking at dinner, so that's possibly why they didn't take the nanny to the ER themselves? Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, though, and absolutely one of them could have hopped into an Uber with her.
  5. Argh, it's not being promoted at all. I'm an avid RHW watcher and I only found out that this was on Peacock because I happened to see someone mention it on Twitter. I also think that internalized racism likely has something to do with it. (Similarly, I feel like RHO Potomac has always been underrated as well!) I remember when this franchise first came out years ago, people were making gripes like "Their accents are too hard to understand!" etc. There's data to back this up -- e.g. the seasons of The Bachelor/Bachelorette with Black protagonists also have fewer viewers. But I do wish Bravo/Peacock would promote this show more because it is so good!
  6. Does Alexia's son Peter remind anyone else of the serial killer from that Assassination of Versace miniseries? ...Just me? Okay...
  7. I don't disagree with any of this! I'm just saying, the only way I could see it making sense that Gizelle refuses to be in a room alone with a man is if she had some sort of prior trauma. And even in that case-- which I don't think is the case!!-- I'd expect her to maybe give a quiet heads up to Chris/Candiace about that. Not because they would have "wronged" her but because he'd likely avoid being alone with her in the future. Also, don't even get me started about how this "can't be alone with the other gender" mentality disproportionately harms women in business!
  8. Yes, I found out about the new season on Twitter! And thank god!
  9. That's the other thing! Ugggh! What kind of sick, sad world does this woman live in where just being in a room alone with a person of a different gender is somehow an issue? The only way this would make sense would be if Gizelle had some sort of prior trauma which made it difficult for her to be alone in a room with a male. And even in that case, the solution would be a quick, private conversation with Chris and maybe Candiace ("Hey, this makes me uncomfortable for x reason. Thanks for understanding!") not something to be saved up and publicly weaponized.
  10. I 100% agree with this. It’s one thing to repeat allegations that you know to be true but it’s a whole other thing to smear an innocent person just for a storyline. Like that’s low, even by Housewives standards. And Chris has a legitimate job where these types of allegations could certainly impact him. Maybe they won’t in this case, because the editors seem to be going out of their way to demonstrate that the claims are false, but that wasn’t a given. AND! Every time you lie about something like this, you make it that much harder for the next woman to report a legitimate experience of harassment. Oh it makes me so ANGRY, people!
  11. My sense is that production makes it difficult to leave.
  12. One of the things that initially drew me to this franchise was that the women seemed to have a camaraderie and a sense of humor. Even when they were being shady, it kind of seemed like they were all having fun with it. It doesn’t seem like fun anymore. I don’t like a show where people are willing to make up lies about their cast mates’ husbands and drag skeletons out of closets to stay relevant.
  13. Yeah, hell must have frozen over because I’ve honestly felt like Candiace has been making a lot of sense this season. (I know!! I KNOW.)
  14. She also should be kicked off because she is SO over-the-top fake and affected. It’s honestly painful to watch her. And the cast doesn’t need her!
  15. I just want to add that Wendy could get fired even if she has tenure, especially if JHU has a faculty code of ethics. Tenure isn’t carte blanche.
  16. 110%! I also agree with the poster a while back who said that Wendy doesn’t really know who she is because she’s spent her life trying to fulfill her mom’s expectations (paraphrasing). And the sad thing is, Wendy has every reason to be secure! She’s smart, accomplished, reasonably attractive, has a hot husband (just me who thinks this?? Ok, I’ll take a seat..) and beautiful children. But then her insecurities rear up and turn her into someone really insufferable. It’s a shame.
  17. Fact check: Okay, so as a professor myself I am completely aware that academia still leans toward being a white men's club and has major issues with diversity. So, I'm sure that Johns Hopkins is a very white, male space and that Wendy is oftentimes the only POC or WOC in the room. That said, can it really be true that Wendy is the only Black female professor at Johns Hopkins?? I'm genuinely curious. And how can it be true that she's the youngest professor there entirely??
  18. Just catching up on this season now and, ugh, I find Mia so difficult to watch. Everything she does just seems so affected and performative. I am not a Candiace fan. At ALL. But, I find it slightly endearing how hard she's going in defense of Chris. I kind of love that she dropped the fourth wall the first time Gizelle tried to bring that nonsense up. Like, for all of Candiace's flaws (which are MYRIAD) she genuinely seems to love and trust this man. I used to like Robyn, but why is she being such a shithead this season?? I do appreciate that she's not playing along with the "Chris is a creep" story. Maybe there are people who will say he's fair game since he's appeared on the show, but the way Gizelle and Ashley are trying to smear this guy (who, it seems, has been nothing but nice to them!) seems really, really wrong -- even by the standards of this show. I'm glad the editors are shadily pointing out their lies.
  19. Am I the only one who remembers him mainly from “Hackers”? …I’ll see myself out… And yes, the critiques I had read of this season said that Charles is too likable in the early episodes. But, that was not my experience of this episode! I have to say, I found Dominic West’s American accent SO unconvincing and distracting in “The Wire.” My husband introduced me to the show (one of his favorites!) and my first question - without knowing this actor or anything about him - was “What is up with McNulty’s bonkers accent???”
  20. Finally finished watching this trainwreck and I'm not proud of myself for saying this but, man, that was riveting TV.
  21. I'm no psychologist, but based on what I've seen, both Kathy and Kyle have serious flaws, and they're both responsible for perpetuating their screwed up family dynamic. Yes, Kyle constantly picks at Kathy, and laughing about the tequila was cruel and unsupportive (though, I will point out, I think she was high in that scene). However, I think it's really telling that Kathy seemed angrier at Kyle for not leaping in and defending her honor than she was at Rinna for ordering the damn tequila. From the footage we saw, Kyle was across the room at the time. Yeah, maybe it would have been nice if Kyle had then said, "Hey, let's all have a round of Kathy's tequila!" But she didn't do that, because Kyle is extremely self-centered. But it's also pretty clear that Kathy was yelling at Kyle in the club (based on the accounts of multiple of the women, not just Rinna) and I do believe she said some hateful things about Kyle to Rinna as well. I want to see Rinna get taken down as much as the next person, and I will support Kathy in that endeavor. But, that doesn't mean that Kathy doesn't suck. She sucks in some ways! So does Kyle in some ways! There's enough suck to go around.
  22. I'm not sure a plane crash metaphor was the best choice for you, Erika.
  23. Totally minor point, but it was cute that Jax's immediate response to Erika's behavior at the party was, "Don't cuss like that." I know we see only a tiny slice of their lives, but Garcelle's boys do seem like good kids.
  24. I dislike Diana as much as the next person, but I still don't understand why Garcelle seems so convinced that she is behind the bots. Because Diana talked shit about Garcelle on social media? They all talk shit about each other! By that measure, why wouldn't Rinna or Erica have been behind the bots? Call me naïve-- and, again, I loathe Diana -- but based on what she was saying at the reunion it didn't seem to me that she's behind the bots. She seemed genuinely hurt and stunned by the accusation, and I don't think she's that good of an actress. Table for one, I guess!
