Watched the first episode tonight. Wow! I wish I didn't have to wait a week for the 2nd one.

I was surprised to find 30+ recordings of HH on my DVR last night. I couldn't tell if they were new or old, so I watched a few. I think the ones I watched were new, at least new to me. One was a couple looking for a bigger house for their 2 boys to grow up in. The dad was a firefighter, and I don't remember what the wife did. She described herself as a helicopter mom, and the husband was the sane one who wanted the kids to have some freedom to be kids (they were 3 & 5). She was annoying as hell, and she had spent way too much time in a tanning bed or applying orange tanning cream. That and the stiletto heels she wore with jeans and shorts made for an interesting fashion combo. Oh, she liked to shop too, and didn't want the price of the house to interfere with her shopping budget. These are the people whose retirement savings I want to see. I liked the husband's down to earth thinking. It must get tiresome living with someone like her 24/7, but they've been together 10 years, so he must not mind too much.

Carl needs to get over Cassandra and move on. Even if she decides to try to get back together with him, he needs to realize she's always going to be unhappy with his job, and freak out every time something goes awry. Let her go find some professor with a safe job to keep her happy. Carl deserves better.

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not guess the answer. I live 80 miles from New Orleans, Louisiana, and All Saints Day is a big religious day here because of the large Catholic population in the state. I'm a Saints fan too - even when they lose. I was kicking myself when I saw the answer.

Holiday Baking Championship - General Discussion

I'm glad you asked that question. During COVID I developed a bad case of eczema on my hands because of over use of hand sanitizer. It strips your skin of valuable moisture. I had to use nitrile gloves for just about everything, and had to take Dupixent injections for a year. I still use the gloves once in a while when I have an eczema flare on my hands. I'm in my 70's and the dermatologist told me that the combo of age and hand sanitizer were the triggers. As you age your skin needs more moisture. i never use hand sanitizer now, and have found a wonderful soap replacement that is unscented, and leaves your skin feeling soft. It's Amish Farm Soap and can be ordered on online.- 2.4k replies

If you live near a Trader Joe's they have one during the summer months that is very good, IMO. Bakers/cooks who make them at home may not agree, but I think it's a good substitute for home made. -

Drives me nuts when someone says "I've never tried this before, but I have to go for it". Guess I don't have their sense of adventure or security in my cooking. Stick with what you know is my philosophy, and which is probably why I would never be on a cooking contest show. -
I really enjoyed this episode, and loved the ending.

I laughed when Duff called out the sprinkles that the "senior" baker used in his decorations. Sprinkles should be banished forever on this show.- 2.4k replies

So sorry SoMuchTV. I wasn't paying enough attention when I posted my comment. I'm blaming it on the time change.

I was screaming "Baton Rouge", as I sat in my comfy chair, in my house, IN Baton Rouge.

House Hunters Renovation - General Discussion

New episode last night about a father & son buying their first house. They went over budget, and had take $$ from their retirement investment accounts to do everything they wanted. The interior certainly looked better when it was finished, but I thought it was a little too taste specific for my thinking. I'm older though, and if they have to sell in the near future, it will probably appeal to many younger buyers. This was in California, and it still amazes me how much you don't get for a million dollars. The house wasn't a million to purchase, but by the time they renovated it, it was pushing a million. -
Thank you!! I have been trying to think I had seen him.

Would someone please refresh my memory. What episode last season involved the doctor Elsbeth ran into at the opera? I love this show, and her clothes.

What's with the latest statement of "let's go" to whatever topic is being chose. I've noticed it with several of the contestants recently. Almost as annoying as Matt Amodio's "what's" prefacing his answer. I liked Matt BTW.

I was glad to see Seamus Deaver. Used to love his character on Castle.

Same here. My DVR isn't recording many of the HH or HHI shows right now. -
Nothing to do with the clues, but I've noticed that Ken has worn ties in shades of pink for the past several days. Anyone else notice? Maybe it's support for October as breast cancer awareness? Didn't know where to post this question.

I thought the same thing. The first time he won, but bet big on FJ and lost a lot of $$ on that bet, I thought to myself if I was his wife I would be asking him why on earth he made such a big bet. He went from $30,000 down to $17,000.

Many years ago, my next door neighbor dug up a beautiful back yard to install a nice pool. Her children were gone & it was just her and her husband. Then they sold the house, and I held my breath that someone who loved to party in the pool would not buy it. Next buyers were childless couple who were quiet, but once in a while had company over to use the pool. I have insulated windows, and even though the pool is only about 75' from my living area, I seldom heard them. That couple sold the house, and again I held my breath. New neighbors are another childless couple, and they like quiet. So far I have lucked out, and hope this couple stays until I finally sell my house and move to "the home". Pools are nice, but I would never buy a house next door to one because you never know how loud the parties will be. Of course, a pool less yard doesn't always guarantee quiet, considerate neighbors either. Maybe I just need to move to a wilderness cabin.

Mark seems to think that the buzzer works like the controller in Wii games. Geeze, I don't think I've ever seen anyone so animated. It's a bit distracting.

The Houston episode last night where the husband didn't want to live in an HOA community because he wants to build a stage in the backyard, have a live music band, and entertain lots of friends all the time made me cringe every time he said that. His wife tried to soft pedal that idea, but he seemed pretty adamant. I cannot imagine having to live next door to that. Unless you have a lot of acreage surrounding your house to guarantee some peace and quiet, it's always iffy as to what type of neighbors you will get if the adjoining property sells. They bought the most expensive, largest house, and it's in an HOA community. I moved on to wondering how they were going to react to a summer electric bill in Houston in that big house.

I missed the first half of the game, and the final Jeopardy answer because I live in Louisiana, and the local stations cut in to give Hurricane Francine updates. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out who won today.

London episode reinforced my belief that I could never afford to live there. How do people afford to live there? If you don't make $200,000+ salaries, where do you live? Miles away and commute? I'm thinking about the people who have lower paying jobs and laborers who keep the hotels, restaurants, running. Where do they live? Idle thoughts as I watched that couple willing to pay $4,000/mo for a place about 1/4 the size of my relatively small house.
