  1. I think there were two sisters introduced.
  2. It is only through silly shows like this that a 50 something woman like me can learn new phrases. Like "white on rice."
  3. Is that also true for, say, me watching it on Hulu? (I'm currently watching Shirley's first season on Hulu when I exercise). I'm happy to give these guys some extra $ tangentially.
  4. I hope it's a fad, not a trend!
  5. I think most people have concluded that was Emily, not Brooke from a screen cap that has been posted in the previous week that got more of her face.
  6. Here's a screen cap. So it doesn't quite say that final decisions are made by producers. It says "in consultation with" producers. Whatever that means.
  7. there was a lot of discussion early on in the season as to whether she wore the head covering for religious reasons or "just because." Since her mother also wears it, I'm leaning toward it being for religious reasons, but she has the freedom to also wear the more over-the-top makeup and piercings. ETA also if I recall correctly her models have always been pretty covered up, but in a way that doesn't scream "MODESTY." Like she'll have a sundress kind of thing, but it will be on top of a contrasting shirt rather than over bare skin. I may be wrong that it's been 100% but that certainly has been something of a pattern with her.
  8. Sparkle white nailpolish and patent leather boots with hotpants. Oh yeah, the 70s :)
  9. The only time Paper impinged on my consciousness were *those* pictures of Kim K. http://nypost.com/2015/09/12/meet-the-man-who-helped-kim-kardashian-break-the-internet/
  10. you're so smart :) I'm sure you are right
  11. I guess i just don't see it. I'm a person who believes in "decorum" but given the stressful situation and the joy at winning, I really didn't think it was wildly inappropriate. Other reactions would also have been appropriate, but this didn't bug me particularly.
  12. Yeah, I guess they were too cheap to fly Tim to the homes like they do for the regular show. They tried to cover it up with those lame "home videos." What can Tim do at the point they are already there? There's no way he could change all that embroidery-overload at that point.
  13. Can you give an example? I don't recall this; I looked up season 13 below and don't see reference to anything special. How can one returning person have a special challenge in any case? Against whom would they be competing? I recall in much earlier seasons they gave a couple of eliminated chefs an extra chance and they competed for the opportunity, but that wasn't LCK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Chef_(season_13)
  14. You can put liquids in checked bags. We (successfully) brought back quite a bit of wine in our family that way. But I agree, they probably polished it off there.
  15. Yes I saw that too. I really wish the chefs would quit doing that (at least while they are standing in front of a running camera!)
  16. he didn't serve 20% of the diners IIRC (because the dish wasn't finished yet at the point of the first wave)
  17. If you believe Tom's description of the process (and I do) then how is an "honest" process supposed to disavow those who believe in a fix? *Not* send her to LCK when she had the weakest dish in the EC? *Not* allow her to beat Casey in LCK? The girl can't win!
  18. I thought Tieler's pieces reminded me *exactly* of embroidered peasant shirts and dresses I remember seeing sold in tourist traps in Mexico in the 1970s (maybe they sell them still....). Nothing cool about it. I didn't hate Hawaa's at all. It was at least interesting.
  19. it's not like having Tieler do the finale was going to make his collection any better, so basing it on past experience doesn't get us anywhere.
  20. I thought Shirley might have already used it before realizing it had vanilla in it
  21. I thought Brooke's defense of her cold dish was spot on. Why is applying heat to a piece of meat considered the hardest thing to do?
  22. I think it's hilarious that they let Blais go first (I actually don't hate him, but he was pretty arrogant in this episode) to bash Brooke and then she wins the challenge.
  23. Because this was an extended advertisement for Universal Orlando. Wasn't that obvious? :)
