  1. Do you remember the first episode? The casting call? The room is full of eager men and women? There were dozens in those clips. And they ended up with the six people we have. yikes. I also presume that not all three couples are having their six weeks at the same time. There was a suggestion somewhere along the way that the couples get together for a little bonding and support. But if their weddings took place at very different times, then filming them together would be a problem. That can also explain how there's time to put in a new couple if another pulls out.
  2. I have a feeling "real experts" wouldn't touch this premise with a ten foot pole.
  3. I wonder if we need to let go of the "everything's happening at the same time" mindset. The one fixed point we have is their birthdays.
  4. Anne Lamott's great bit of advice: "Everyone's entitled to a shitty first draft." Doing Nanowrimo can throw you into an atmosphere of support, creativity, and challenge. It's exhilarating and a very fun way to spend November. The discussion boards there are well worth the signup. You'll find writers who are ultra-planners and those who write by the seat of their pants. For some people, cranking out 50k in 30 days gets the pump primed. So what if it's awful? You've written a huge bit, you and the page are no longer strangers, and maybe there's a paragraph of gold that you haven't edited the life out of yet.
  5. I remember leaving a house I'd stayed at on the Dingle Peninsula in SW Ireland, headed up to Galway. It was well over an hour before I saw another car on the road, in either direction. Sheep? Some. But no cars between 6 and 7 am. So glad the show's renewed. The characters did a lot of changing in six episodes, lots of groundwork done for future episodes.
  6. Sonia and Nick: there's such a disconnect with the enthusiasm and affection Nick shows to his dogs. Sonia has to watch him with the dogs, has to put up with the dogs all over her, and can't get two words out of him unprompted. His actions keep saying, "See, I am fun and lovable when I want to be. I just don't care about trying with you."
  7. I'm surprised production isn't worried about someone getting hurt in the slip and slide comp. pure disaster waiting to happen.
  8. Here's another great truck idea: http://www.seattletimes.com/life/lifestyle/pen-paper-bright-red-truck-woman-inspires-letters-written-from-the-heart/
  9. I heard $300 in passing--when some of them were shopping, they were saying things about being "close to the limit" and the totals showing on the cash registers were between 200 and 300.
  10. "I live in a bus. Maybe we could move into your place?"
  11. There was a "Law and Order: Special Victims" episode just like this. Girl is rescued after being gone for years, sister is suspicious. "Thirteen" seems to want to be that show, dragged out over five episodes.
