  1. This. I've tried to care about Roger and Bree. I really have. I. Just. Don't. I was more moved by the priest and his self-immolating lover than the reuniting of Roger & Bree. That's pretty sad. I'm reading each book ahead of the season so I'm glad to know it will be a while before they give Roger and Bree the heavy lifting on the show. Maybe RR & SS can spend some time together outside of work and try to develop some kind of chemistry. I guess it is too much to hope for that they will just bite the bullet and recast SS this late in the series.
  2. Every time I see gemstones on this show now I assume someone will need them in the future to go through the stones. Those were so prominently displayed that for a second I thought Geillis might jump out from behind a curtain and grab them.
  3. Yes! So true. I attribute this mostly to MA's talents, however. Jack has always been a very perceptive, intelligent person and one of my fears in bringing him back is that they might make him idiotic. I don't have an issue if he comes back with questionable morals (he has always been a bit shady and scheming), but I do want his wit and humor to be intact as much as possible. I also agree about Julie. If I remember correctly, Eve worked for Julie in the past and Julie had her pegged even back then, so Julie would be a good person to talk to Jack before he gets too involved with Eve. Ugh... I hate even typing that...
  4. I agree. I am thinking of a recent interview during Day of Days that I heard from Missy Reeves. The interviewer asked her if it was really Jack and all she would say is "it looks like him." Could mean anything but, yeah, I'd be suspicious unless he starts remembering details like Atlantic City, the island, the firetruck, pushing Harper out of the bell tower, etc. Props to Jennifer for trying to trigger his memory with the jade plant...
  5. Wouldn't it be funny if Jack sees Kayla and remembers her but no one else? Part of me would kind of love the angst of that... I really hope the writers come through for MA and MR this time around because I have waited a VERY long time to see them together on my screen again!
  6. This is one thing that really bothers me. Both Frank and Claire have British accents. During Brianna's formative language years, I would think she would have mimicked her parents' way of speaking. I have two friends IRL who are American with British parents and they both have British accents- not as strong as their parents, granted, but certainly not what I consider "American."
  7. It's unfortunate that Brianna didn't know about the other sets of stones scattered around the world. She would have saved herself two trips across the Atlantic! I have always been meh about Frank but I actually loved the last scene with ghost Frank handing Brianna off to Jamie. I suspect that is the last time we as an audience will see him. Hats off to Tobias Menzies for giving life to two such unique and complicated characters. It couldn't have been pleasant getting into the mind of Blackjack Randall.
  8. So I was looking at some comments on Reddit and Starks4eva made this interesting statement: Someone told me something about the teaser about 5 weeks ago and it sounds like it may be true. Although at this point I fully admit I'm so desperate to get something I'm not thinking clearly. They said the teaser will be "statues of the cast turning into ice breaking and blowing in the wind. Like the Wall of Faces teaser" So we had Sophie reveal not too long ago that a statue was made of her and some were speculating that it was a possible spoiler for Sansa's death. We know a statue was made and this kind of teaser sounds plausible. I could see HBO preferring a sort of generic teaser trailer like this rather than spoil actual footage from season 8. Thoughts?
  9. Kind of a bittersweet ending but I really loved the moment on the cliffs where Ross remembered a young and happy Elizabeth (I think that was footage from season 1? - not sure, it's been a while). After all she went through, that was a lovely last image of her fading away into the sunset and the sea. I had mixed feelings about her, but I agree she was interesting and will be missed.
  10. I actually really liked the circle narration and accompanying visuals in the beginning. I thought it was cleverly done. Not a fan of the closing song, though. Something purely instrumental would have been more moving and appropriate, I think. I agree with whoever said Cait hit it out of the park. Despite the distracting soundtrack, I felt her pain right through the tv screen. I'm not sure what actual value Jamie's ring would have to Bonnet, though. The gold one would have been worth far more to sell.
  11. I was rewatching season 4 recently and I noticed something Karl Tanner said to Jon prior to their fight. He said "Lord Snow. You bringing me back for trial? We had a good thing here. We were free men. You'll never be free. You'll never know what that's like." It struck me as perhaps a bit of ironic foreshadowing. I still think Jon will survive but he will refuse the throne. He's never wanted to lead, and, once given an actual choice, I think he will choose to live his life instead of ruling. He might die- but it is pointless storytelling, imo, to let him be resurrected only to die again. It's more powerful to let him live and be the rightful ruler but choose to be the catalyst of change. He deserves freedom, not the responsibility of a kingdom.
  12. Why wouldn't I have the idea that not all Targs have dragon blood? It's been hammered home since S1. Dany was constantly talking about being a dragon and dragon blood. When her brother was killed she said 'he was no dragon' Dany's comment was metaphorical. Viserys was a Targaryen and had dragon blood, but he was weak and cruel and that's why Dany said "he's no dragon." She was commenting on his character, not his actual bloodline.
  13. I think the only hope Rhaegal has to survive is if he has a rider. Dragons are intelligent, but I'm not sure he can evade the NK's attacks without assistance.
  14. He wants to be Ned's true son because he wants to BELONG to the family. He doesn't want to be the one everyone looks down on because of the circumstances of his birth- something out of his control which leads to an unfair evaluation of his character. He tries so hard to be like Ned because he wants to do something, anything, to countermand the prejudice against him because he's a bastard. He may consider Ned his real father, and he is his adopted father for all intents and purposes, but Jon will soon have knowledge that could disillusion him. Ned lied to him for his entire life and that lie allowed him to be treated with disrespect by pretty much everyone. I think Jon will understand why Ned did it, but that won't make it any easier to swallow. This is what I mean about the Starks.... baggage.
  15. How do you know Jon wouldn't want to be a Targaryen? He has known exactly two Targaryens in his lifetime and he likes and respects them both (past tense for Maester Aemon- RIP). They both befriended him and helped him at a time he needed it. He has had positive experiences with both of them. As a boy he idolized Daeron I and pretended he was the young dragon when he played with Robb. Yes, the Mad King was hated by everyone, but he was understood to be mad and certainly not representative of all Targs. Jon decided to take a risk and meet with Dany, despite advice to the contrary and knowing she could be like her father but he gave her the benefit of the doubt and was rewarded for it by gaining her support. In other words, he doesn't seem prejudiced against the Targs in general. What Dany offers him is belonging with no baggage. The Starks love Jon, but there will always be that uncomfortable feeling of growing up being the black sheep, the odd one out, and he can't forget that. I'm not saying he will lose or forget his Stark-ness. That's who raised him and it will be a part of him forever. But I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that he might consider being half Targaryen a good thing once he processes it and accepts who he is.
  16. We only have six episodes left, so there isn't the luxury of time for Jon to explore all his angst over the shameful Targ history. Jon is practical. He will take the advice he gave Theon, accept both sides of his parentage, and move on to whatever needs doing. He won't forget his Stark upbringing, but I disagree that he won't embrace the Targ side, too. I think Dany will have a large influence on him. Acceptance is a powerful feeling for someone who has always struggled to belong.
  17. I'm simply saying that even though Jon was raised with the Starks, he wasn't truly made to feel like he was one of them, similar to Theon. Ned might call him a Stark, but actions speak louder. Ned was limited in what he could do to counteract the separation Jon felt because he had to be careful not to give Jon's true parentage away. Jon was never allowed to forget he was the bastard. Jon refers to these moments himself throughout the series. I think when he discovers he's actually a Targaryen, he will finally understand who he is and where he belongs. He is part legitimate Stark and I think that will be important to him for closure sake, but I don't think that's enough to necessarily keep him with the Starks or in Westeros.
  18. You are assuming they will all survive. Even if they all do, Arya is like Nymeria... meant to roam free. Maybe go west of Westeros? Jon and Sansa have never been close and Bran lives in his head now. I don't see that being a factor if Westerosi politics is under responsible control and Jon and Dany want to raise their child in peace. As @Eyes High said, kids always trump siblings.
  19. I guess I see J/D leaving as a possibility that's plausible because Jon has never wanted to be a leader, much less rule anything. Every leadership position he's had has essentially been forced upon him by others. Dany, I think, only wants to rule because she thinks it's her Targaryen destiny - a destiny she has to fulfill because her brother couldn't. They both want to help people, but if they manage to end the war over the throne and defeat the white walkers, won't that goal be accomplished? I think the discovery that Jon is actually a Targaryen is going to have a profound effect on both of them. Jon has never felt like he truly belonged with the Starks, and Dany never bonded with Viserys, the only family she's known. For them to find each other and realize that they're each other's family now- I could see them leaving it all behind and starting fresh, especially after the upcoming trauma they are sure to experience. If the council they choose has people they trust, I believe they might finally give up their hero roles and choose a quiet place to spend the rest of their lives. Just my opinion, of course!
  20. I still believe Dany's vision in the HOTU (show version) was a huge hint to her fate. She never touches the throne (although she has the opportunity) but instead seeks out and finds her "husband and child." In the North. At the Wall. I think Jon and Dany will survive, create a council to rule Westeros, and book it out of there with their kid in tow never to be seen again.
  21. If Tyrion does betray J/D in an effort to ensure the Lannister line survives (through Cersei and Jaime's child), it would be bittersweet indeed if he, Jaime and Cersei all die thinking their house is gone forever only for it to be revealed later that Brienne is carrying Jaime's child from a night of passion at Winterfell (wishful thinking on my part, lol).
  22. Yes, the rule of three. Gives me hope that the rest of the writing for the final season will make a worthy and satisfying ending.
  23. If Cersei and Jaime are already dead, Tyrion's death would mean the end of House Lannister. Considering the Lannisters have held control over the 7K for quite some time (going all the way back to when Tywin was the Mad King's hand) and for the entire duration of our current story, that would be very significant indeed. Not to mention the Reynes of Castamere would finally be avenged.
  24. Dany must do something shocking in S8. Emilia's reaction to the ending and how she hinted that Dany's actions might leave a bad taste in the mouth of fans (I'm paraphrasing here) is a strong hint for this. My concern is that Dany's 'betrayal for love' might actually be her own betrayal of Jon and/or everyone else. I guess I need to double up on my anxiety meds for this reveal...
  25. GrayArea on Youtube had an interesting video recently highlighting Sansa's various clothing over the years and how many of her costumes have bird or flying animal imagery. She thinks this is a hint that Sansa will become the Lady of the Eyrie and rule the Vale. I'm not sure if this will be true for the tv show, but I could see it happening in the books. I'm not so sure Lady of Winterfell is her endgame. There may not be a Winterfell to rule, after all...
