  1. Have you seen Scooby Doo Mysyery Incorporated? It is a hoot and plenty of both deconstruction of Scooby Doo myths and character development!! I am adding that show and the DCAU and Young Justice to my rewatchables list.
  2. Watching Rose on Dr. Oz right now! Holy cow she shaved her head!!! As for the proposed reboot I still say nay! If they bring back the original actresses for a limited run (and maybe retcon some serious issues that followed she show post season3) and keep Brad Kern away from it I’d be ok with it. If they want to create a series about witches then go ahead. But it should not be called Charmed. I also am annoyed with the term “feminist” to describe the reboot. The original show was all about girl power in the beginning and how three witchy sisters tried to find balance between magic and non magical worlds. While I do agree the show went down hill (PhoeME for starters) that doesn’t mean it didn’t exist.
  3. Tough call since many shows I used to love when they were first run I find hard to watch now (though reasons vary). I enjoy watching The Monkees a lot! I could watch it on a loop!! Barney Miller All In The Family The Rifleman (its marathoned on AMC on Saturday mornings) and I find the chemistry between the characters of Lucas and Mark McCain to be awesome and genuine!! Emergency Adam 12 Dragnet (any version!) Charmed (though often I tune out after season 5 and tune back in for the series finale. The Big Valley (date I say I liked it better than Bonanza!) For some animatedbexamples: Avatar The Last Airbender (not so much it’s sequel series) Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated (awesome deconstruction of the original series with great jokes and character development). Star vs The Forces of Evil Danny Phantom (the best series Butch Hartman has ever done)
  4. With the exception of Life With Lucy (her last series from the 80s) her other shows ran at least 3 seasons.
  5. Maybe not a direct reboot but Lucille Ball was brought back several times to essentially play the same character in slightly different settings. Even many of the original ILL writers came with her.
  6. When I was a kid and the show first run someone had told me Boot got his name due to his chewing up a pair of boots . However I dont remember hearing it in the series proper or a shot of a guilty looking Boot gnawing on Johnny’s shoes (because you know it would be Johnny’s boots!!).
  7. It would have been even more awesome if all surviving Emergency actors had made an appearance ! Bonus if it happened in one episode!!
  8. Congratulations Petunia13!!! Here's hoping your new co-workers won't be co-irkers!!
  9. Was I surprised to see this show here! im too young to have seen it first run but I’d heard about it from my parents. METV isn’t the only place I’ve seen it air recently. I’ve seen it on AntennaTV and occasional marathons on Decades.
  10. Have you considered home schooling? You can set the curriculum based on each child’s learning style, set hours (younger children tend to need 2 to 3 hours daily whil middle and high schoolers about 4 -5 hours daily). The fact that you have set up learning sessions for them is a form of home schooling in itself.
  11. Be careful! Sometimes these types of people decide to get "offended" and go above your head claiming you're threatening them or making them too "uncomfortable" in the workplace. I've seen it happen.
  12. Ideally, yes. But Hollywood is also about the names that would bring in the box office. For them it's too risky to bring in talented people that are virtual unknowns. In the original "Annie" adaptation (1982), Carol Burnett was brought in to play Miss Hannigan. Now, she's a talented lady and did well in the film, but I can't help but think she was cast over Pat Carroll, who did the role on Broadway (and was excellent!) because she was better known on a marquee - even though Carroll had done film and TV for decades before and since.
  13. Well HR and the Feds have teamed up to make sick days redundant for me. I was horribly ill with both an ear infection (causing severe vertigo - even lying in bed was a nightmare) and a sinus infection (which made me wish there were a way to separate my head from the rest of my tortured body). I started feeling ill on a Saturday afternoon. By early Sunday I knew I wasn't going to be well enough to go to work the next day so I called in. Same when Monday happened and I made a doctor's appointment. He gave me my prescription and said I needed to take the rest of the week off (the next 3 days for a total of 5 days) and wrote me a doctor's note that I was cleared to worth the following Monday. I tell my bosses I'll be in Monday and I'd have a note. Then I am told by HR that because I was out for 5 whole days, I'd have to call Cigna and put in for the FMLA. I call this 1-800 number and told to fill out some paperwork they'd send me in the mail. What do I receive? A doctor's note that the doctor would have to sign. Now, it wasn't that long ago a simple doctor's note would have been enough to return to work without a problem, but this is just stupid! It's not like I wasn't really sick, trying to scam the system, or was absent for a significant length of time (say 1 month or more). Why am I being bogged down with paper work for 5 days of legitimate illness?? Part of me wants to think the jerks I work under are doing this on purpose. Heaven knows several office workers have been spreading the flu (or some sort of nasty virus) because they're afraid of calling in and just a few days of rest would slow it down. It's not as if don't have lots of sick time accrued either as I'm rarely sick. Why get FMLA involved?
  14. None that I know of! In fact, they want to remake movies which were done well! They also work better as animated features, rather than live action. Please DIsney, stop the madness! Not really. I saw and enjoyed the original, but I have a hunch the SJW tendencies of current cinema will rewrite Willis' character to either be killed by the police or arrested and given a stern lecture from a judge by the end.
  15. If you think it's an overstatement that no one would doubt a rape accusation [in today's current climate], I must respectfully disagree. All it takes to ruin a career and/or a reputation is a report (even if it turns out to be unsubstantiated) to lose everything one worked for.
  16. They more or less were going in this direction with Andy way back in the pilot. In fact, some first and 2nd season episodes could be re-written as X-files shows from the perspective of mortal investigators.
  17. This didn't bother me because there are lines drawn. Your superiors are not your friend/family. There are (unfortunately) no shortage of jerks in the military and you tend to find more of them in charge of you than not. "Redeeming" Lewis , if anything, would not ring true. My father used to tell me how the men in the barracks would give "blanket parties" for the guy who cost the others their weekend passes. Women are far more devious in their quest for revenge. True - although even in 1980 Judy could have reported the incident. Today no one would doubt her story and her attacker would be punished - or transferred. Of course, if they want to do a twist, how about a woman who lies about being assaulted? Heaven knows that happens too in military and civilian life. (J'accuse!!) Don't think this would work because people travel more than they did in decades past so one doesn't have to join the military to "see the world". Plus she'd probably muster out before basic training was over. What might be more interesting would be seeing the cliquishness that happens in the upper ranks of the military. You'd be surprised how much like HS it can be - you don't get that deserved promotion because you (or your spouse) aren't likely to "fit in" with their group.
  18. Because TPTB needed a place to showcase artists signed to the WB record label. Ditto. However what really got to me was him dying and becoming a WHITELIGHTER of all things! The way he behaved would not put him in that league .
  19. New year, time for a new blinds: From Entertainment Lawyer: Methinks it's related to GOT, which has one season left before it ends its run. Which actor though? I'm certain this is Willie Nelson. He's been having health issues and recently his residency in Las Vegas was postponed. Whoa.
  20. I couldn't help but laugh myself silly reading those!! I don't think the Stevie Wonder one should be a problem - he obviously didn't have a problem with it since he chose to endorse it. The nipple bra reminded me of Joel Schumacher for obvious reasons! I'd heard that the whole point of ugly bridesmaid dresses is to make the bride look better (how dare anyone else in the wedding party outshine the bride!). Some brides I've known have actually subscribed to the theory! What a jerk! Life is too short to live it as an asshole. If you legally own a firearm, perhaps you could clean it in full view of this guy. Don't aim it at him obviously, (or make threats), just let him think about messing with you is not a good idea.
  21. Have some more to offer: "Time" by The Pozo-Seco Singers. "Me & Magdalena" The Monkees (from their last album, "Good Times") "It's Not Easy" by The Will-O-Bees
  22. Noooo!!! Not Dangerprone Daphne!!!! Sadder still one of her stepdaughters passed away a week before she did! So sorry for the family and loved ones. I’ll always remember Ms. North best as both Daphne Blake (she was roomies with Velma’s original VA, Nicole Jaffe and that’s how she got the job replacing Daphne’s original VA) and for her role in The Monkees as (what else?) a love interest of Davy’s.
  23. He was! He was Carol's "good luck charm". He was in every season premiere of her variety show from the beginning. I seem to remember his life was in jeopardy and he needed a liver transplant. He was lucky to get his second chance at life and enjoyed it to the fullest. I always thought it funny how his speaking voice (at least in character as Gomer) never seemed to match his singing voice!
  24. I hate that Salvation Army commercial too - not for the reasons previously stated - but because it takes into account that the girl in need of help actually went to get it [from SA] in the first place!! I do give the creators credit that the little girl didn't give the coat directly to the needy girl - that would have been too obvious. However, the message still would have been the same - a girl gave up her coat (which was needed for the coming winter season) and donated money to the kettle which may not go to the specific girl she wanted to help!! All she did was get rid of a coat her parents paid good money for and returned it for money to give to an organization when the family could have chosen to donate money together as a family. I think the SA is a worthy charity but the message in the ad is all wrong!! This is the season for the angel trees and similar toy drives and the message could have been that the girl is lucky to have what she has but she can still help others without depriving herself.
