OMGoodness. You've been celibate all this time; you couldn't wait another couple of months until you've healed from surgery? And now what do you do about a job, money, etc? Do you just go on the dole? Dang. You ladies don't seem stupid, but this sure is a stupid move. Self control, people.

65 in August. Budget cuts at my uni and probably no raise for a 2nd year. Our fiscal year is July 1; if nothing is happening, I'm gonna have to go when the Medicare kicks in. I'll eat ramen; its better than working harder, getting excellent evaluations, but no friggin' money. My sister younger just retired and she's having a ball.

Whoa - morning sickness!!!

It looks like they don't now, but they used to work at Walmart until they got too big for that. There's a long recovery with skin surgery, so maybe it would be too difficult to get a job now, and then have to take off a month or so.

How cute is the little boy?! Yeah, don't call mom.

Apparently the only smart people in years of this show.

What the heck is this? Was this on the show?

Same here.

How's everyone's eating habit? Taco salad w/o the taco - on lettuce, gardein meatless crumbles, tomato, black beans, taco sauce, black olives, onions.

Because I listen to this garbage at work and think about it too much: "My dad is my rock. If anything were to happen to him, it would destroy me." Really? More than the "800 pounds of food in you" has destroyed you? More than the new life-form growing on your legs has destroyed you? How is that possible?

I thought about that and wondered how many people would be running all over town looking for white suitcases when they could just pain them. : )

I'm pretty sure Shanaynay doesn't pay of her bills, either. She's what, 600 lbs of water weight?? Miss Education doesn't know much about physiology. The hospital wouldn't give Freddy any food? WTH? There are cafeterias in hospitals. Vending machines. I'm pretty sure he could have made a sandwich and brought a bottle of water from home if couldn't afford the cafeteria (which is usually subsidized in some way and pretty cheap). I don't know how big the hospital is that they use in Houston, but my uni's hospital has minimum of 3 real cafeterias plus a number of coffee stands with humus, fruit, pastries, etc. Lying liars who lie, that's what they both are. It's a mindset to think that everything is going to be paid for you. Pay for it your damned self, like the rest of us. We have the audio of her phone call with Dr. Now. We know exactly who she is and what she's about.

Small Talk: Only 2 Ounces Of Commenting Allowed

I've mentioned before that a number of the male obesees were football players who were encouraged to be big, then gained weight when they didn't change their eating and stopped being so active. -

Netflix. So the Aussie show was a series, following 4-5 people throughout. When people here ask how folks can get so big, the Maori, Tongans, Samoans can be big people. Add Western foods and they can get huge. The difference that I saw watching the series is that they are almost all big. When you are from a group of big people and no one says anything about your size, you don't do anything about your size. One young woman was in law school. She really wanted to fit in with the smaller girls and not get as big as her relatives. Interestingly, she felt it necessary to ask the family council whether she should get the surgery. I believe she wouldn't have done it if folks had disagreed. Also, the people on this show were around 3-400 lbs, not 600 - tho I think some of the family members of various obesees were pretty darned close. Aside - one guy bought a soda that was in a can similar to a Monster can. He popped the top, tilted his head back and drained the whole thing in one gulp. I have never seen anything like it. When we wonder how people can take in all the calories they need to get so big, this is how. I bet when that guy got back home, he could easily have had another soda or 2 because he drank the first one so fast, it just didn't register. Fast food is another problem - they showed that it was cheaper for him, being out on disability and with a reduced budget, to eat from take out than to buy real food and cook it at home. To be fair, after some slip ups, he did well and looked great at the end. I loved how he often called his little girl, 'daughter.' -
I bet if some man covered the peephole in her front door, she'd have a fit. For me, you either take your hand off the peephole or "say hello to my little friend." I take my safety seriously.

Her legs look like the legs they'd show on the old cartoons - where you have the fat lady with big legs and little feet. Jeez - she's so young to look like this.

I watched the UK show, Shut-ins, on Netflix (someone here mentioned it. Still needing my fix, I found a show from Australia, The Big Ward. OM Goodness. First, I was surprised to learn that Australians are now bigger than Americans and Mexicans. Second, I feel so bad for the native peoples (the woman I saw looked Maori, not Aborigine) who are struggling with their weight, and, I'd say, some food ignorance. This poor woman was trying to lose weight to get approved and didn't, even tho, in her mind, she was trying - by eating 2 containers of ramen, toast, sandwiches. Oh my gosh. The dietitian had to tell her about carbohydrates. Like our obesees here, they seem to think they can just eat less of what they already eat and lose weight. It doesn't work for them, either. Oh no - 3rd episode, the poor woman has a big sub bun, KFC (she's putting the chicken on the bread), with gravy over all, and an order of fries. I don't think she's gonna make the weight loss goal. I can't even type as fast as this woman is eating - she just said she'll eat 2 of these sandwiches. And her father died of obesity at 49. Man. This reminds me of another show I saw where the guy went to Tonga (where people are also big) and went with a woman to the store. She got mutton flaps, never heard of it, but he told her the New Zealanders don't eat it. They send it to these native peoples and they eat it (and get fat, and get sick). The poor woman was crying in the store. She couldn't believe people would send them what they considered bad food. Jeez Louise. -
Re-reading this stuff to avoid work.. I was a dependent around that time as well. No dental - tho I vaguely recall that they would pull teeth. I just looked and there seems to be a voluntary dental insurance available for active duty, Reserve, and National Guard. The premium is low for active duty, so there's no excuse for someone with kids not to have it. I don't know if this was in place when Katrina was a kid.

I just did a quick search on "Karina My 600..." and got the TLC site with some before and after pictures of some of the obesees. OM Dear Lord. I swear that TV doesn't give the same impression as a still picture of these people. You really see just how massive 600 lbs is on a human.

I caught these. Allen was shocking - he looked like he'd been big for a long time (they showed pics), but there he was just huge and bed bound, with the poor mom doing everything. At one point, he says his mom is his 'right hand,' but I thought that maybe he should make some effort so that his mother wouldn't have to work so hard.

Sometimes you will see patients with some papers in their hands and he'll reference the diet. Though I have to admit, I hope he gives them something more than this. It's a bit too broad for these folks. I got a lovely color brochure from the university clinic I visited, with lots of specific choices/portion sizes, and including ethnic foods.

I just looked it up - there's a real placed named 'Golden Hog Trough'???!!! I don't think I could even go in a place with that name. Wow. We have really stopped asking for much on this board, haven't we?

She wanted someone to lose the weight for her so she wouldn't have to do the work. Oh man. I spent years in Philly. I never really had a hoagie until I went there. A well-made Philly Italian hoagie is a thing to behold. Dang. Miss that stuff...

See, this is what I'm talking about re the food. We know they've seen a nutritionist. Why the heck aren't they eating a more well-rounded diet instead of just chili? You both have smart phones, get an app and put in your food for the calories. It's not hard. This is why people back-slide. If you ate just chili (or just anything), wouldn't you be going crazy to have something else? Like a lot of something else? These people still don't get the food bit and they still don't get - this is forever if you want to keep losing and keep the weight off.
