  1. If that were the case, Amazon would be one big massive copyright violation. :D
  2. Disclaimer: I've been very sick since late January and haven't seen any of the shows so am going off your descriptions. So, meatballs: how the HELL can you evenly cook a one pound meatball? And if you're serving 6-8 with it, you're going to cut them up. So, WHY? Do I still have a fever? Am I in delirium? What the hell IS that? But she's taught us all that enough is enough.
  3. No offense intended, but that's not correct at all. It would be correct if they were reproducing the words inside the books, and even then they could legally use a quote here or there. Covers are not actionable.
  4. I can sort of understand the tub, if you're tall or wide. You want to see if you fit. Ditto with a shower. BUT, take off your shoes! And hell, maybe bring a paper towel & cleaner. :D But the BEDS? Back the hell off, idiots. I don't want anyone on my bed, even if my bed is covered with dogs for me. They're MY dogs. :D
  5. I especially don't want one in front of a bathroom. That's a room that needs proper closing! I don't include pocket doors in with barn doors - they're different and they *fit*.
  6. Yeah, this is a definite "give me the cash option" if I (unlikely!) win the prize. ;) I often wonder about how many people take the home rather than cash. It'd usually mean moving across the country. I also side-eye the declared value of some of the things.
  7. Oh, MAN, I'm glad I skipped this. Hurl! So wait, there was shrimp AND bacon in her cocktail? She's done lost her mind. I literally just said "Oh FFS" but without the abbreviation. That's just foul. Cripes, yes. Basically what she has is soft shredded potatoes at the bottom now.
  8. We bought our house in Fort Worth in 2012, at the very bottom of the cycle. We paid under $140k for 3000 sq ft - bigger than we needed, but well under our budget, and we each got our offices/craft rooms/wood-drying room etc. (It's just me and the hub). Now, homes in our neighborhood with same floor plan are going for $180-200k. The only reason they're not more is that half our square footage is in the (finished) basement. To me, that's a plus. It stays nice and cool in the summer, and makes cooling the whole house cheaper. First time in my life that I bought at the right time in a market, lol!
  9. I came across this article this week, and thought "gee, we should submit some of Ree's books!" I'm evil. :D "Did Your Grandma Steal That ‘Secret Family Recipe’?"
  10. And me! 55 year old in Texas. :D
  11. I noticed that too. Some off camera worker did those, I'm sure. And yes, my mother & grandmother made gorgeous cookies. Ree's looked like the ones the kids decorated, for fun. HAH, indeed. It was built-in sugar!
  12. @GaT she's pretty much doing the home this season for herself. It's interesting how that seems to free her to just use new cabinets in the kitchen because "the old ones weren't good" - which she never said on other houses. ;)
  13. @Spunkygal I'm actually watching it from my DVR right now. She seems pretty sensible. Her fake drama isn't on the level of some of the others, so it's ok. I like that she recognizes when something can't be preserved (floorboards that were 3/8" and in bad shape) and when it can. And while I'm not into everything open concept all the time, she makes good choices about changing flow from how things were in the 1800s/early 1900s to now, like when cooking wasn't a family affair. She also doesn't cheap out on materials, which is worth it for these homes. Also, she's not "subway tile everywhere". :D
  14. Sunny has ulcerative colitis, which can make weight loss/management really difficult. I had a similar disease until they just removed a lot of my tract. You end up picking the foods that don't make you sick, which aren't always the foods that are conducive to weight loss.
  15. Both my grandmothers - Irish & Italian - used to add hard boiled eggs to different things - the Irish, to soups, the Italian, to braciole (beef rollups) and stews. Both told me that it was peasant food/poor people food, because eggs were cheaper or, as you said, they had their own chickens. So they could add more protein to food without spending on meats.
  16. 2 things to post: "We're Ending Fixer Upper So We Can Explore Our New Passion for 1970s European Brutalism" (humor/parody but funny) Chip and Joanna Gaines in talks to start new show
  17. I would so love it if FN, for once, did a show on alternative meals for traditional holidays. We hate turkey. HATE it. We sub out ham, or steak, etc every year.
  18. All that pink and blue - ick! I'd be happy for the cash option, though.
  19. Editor's Note: Discuss Flip or Flop Fort Worth Here! Another new one. This actually had a pilot air last spring called "Flipping Fort Worth". The couple is entertaining, the pilot did well. After all the drama from the original show, I think they rebranded as FoF: Fort Worth. Their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AshleyandAndyWilliams/ An article about them: http://www.elledecor.com/life-culture/a12438974/flip-or-flop-fort-worth/ I'm watching because I'm in Fort Worth, too. They're also not as "tv show goofy" as some of the others.
  20. I watched tonight's episode just to see if she's changed. She's allegedly restoring old houses again, but we're not seeing the nice stuff that brought us in at first - now it's just her drama and a manic pace. I swear, she started talking about staging one of the two houses she did in this episode before 10 minutes had gone. There's none of the "how to". She sounds like she's an ADHD kid. And then we got to see her stealing someone's lunch. And more of her really bad staining. This was just badly produced and edited.
  21. She's way too old for HGTV these days. You've gotta be 25-35, sort of hot, and preferably in a couple.
  22. HGTV has a way of flogging programs until we're utterly sick of them - and sadly that often occurs in the 2nd season. In the meantime, there are new programs airing in Canada from previous HGTV people that I'd love to see.
  23. "Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," grumbled Jo, lying on the rug. "It's so dreadful to be poor!" sighed Meg, looking down at her old dress. "I don't think it's fair for some girls to have plenty of pretty things, and other girls nothing at all," added little Amy, with an injured sniff. And then the murders began.
  24. I think she should be a contestant on every damned FN competition when they have FN celebs on them, just so we can watch her be humiliated. Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, Next Iron Chef, Guy's Grocery Games, you name it. I'd especially like to see her beat down by Alex G or Amanda F.
