  1. I think the Second Line was headed towards St Louis No 1, whereas Diedre's burial was at Lafayette. Of course, by not being specific about Ciprian's apt location, they can be vague. I used to walk all over that city on every visit. Now, I'd need a scooter!
  2. All I can think about is how Lestat would be laughing at all the tropes.
  3. I don't know why everyone's dressed in the 90s outfits despite it clearly being set in current times. It's ridiculous. WHY AM I STILLLLL WATCHING?
  4. Harry Hamlin's accent is SO BAD. A "cher" here and there isn't New Orleans. Ugh, why has this turned into the most cliched, trope-ridden witch show? It wasn't supposed to be *this*. It's just all....WRONG. Lasher should be elegant and otherworldly. I'm really disappointed with the musical score, too. Why is there something that looks like a World War I cenotaph from a modern village? This is like a crazy quilt of bad accents, bad history, bad effects, bad music, bad lighting. Why am I still watching?
  5. That made me cringe SO HARD. These are the worst Scottish accents I've heard in forever. I can't blame the actors - IMDB tells me most of the ones in the Scottish parts are from places like Arkansas, Montana, etc. But how hard would it have been to get some people who actually know accents? Also, the portraits make me so angry. THEY'RE AWFUL.
  6. They are, though as cities go, it's not massive. But it's not "10 blocks" from the French Quarter to the Garden District. If the funeral of the Second Line was going to St Louis Cemetary No 1, that's just a few blocks from the French Quarter. However, Lafayette Cemetery, where the Mayfairs are buried is in the Garden District, so entirely feasible to walk there from/to First Street. I've done it. The turquoise circled house is the First Street house.
  7. Still going through my rewatch of everything, and the only thing that keeps me going to the end on Samoa, and suffering through Russell, is because I know that he gets his comeuppance. He never understood that you can't make everyone hate you if you actually want to WIN. I will also never ever understand why all those people kept him around. Never. They got what they deserved.

    S09: Vanuatu

I'm going through all the seasons and rewatching. I don't remember seeing this season at all, but it's probably because I was undergoing a lot of surgery when it was on, and was on the Good Drugs! Very disappointing, though. I didn't like anyone who had a chance of winning! Good god, the final TC was so self-righteous. It's Survivor! People lie! Get over it! I wish I could hear Sandra lecture them all.
  9. They're all on Paramount+ now Did you all see that Fairplay was arrested for larceny (with his mom) for stealing from his grandmother? Yes, the "dead" one. https://ew.com/tv/survivor-jonny-fairplay-arrested-larceny/
  10. I'm rewatching now, and I'd forgotten just how racist they were. Not only with the Compton remark, but in the same scene, calling on guy on the street Tupac, and offensively rolling up their car windows. And then in the scene detour of carrying water or milking the goat, when Uchenna and Joyce were carrying the things, Lynn was saying something like "well, they're made for this" and I just wished right then that they'd be knocked out. On the rewatch, Greg and Brian remind me SO much of the Property Brothers, it isn't even funny. If there was an -ism, Ray was determined to demonstrate it. I honestly cheered every time they were beat by someone he despised. Hey, Ray, the old people, the gay people, the girls all beat you. Chew on that. I've always been a Rob fan. Yeah, he's cocksure and can be an ass, but he's also smart as hell and yet has a gift of making everyone he's competing with, on Survivor or TAR, believe that they're more clever than he is. He's very self-aware, too. He very much looks out for number one. But one thing that endears him is that his number one includes Amber, and always has. He never is disparaging to her. Their relationship, compared to so very many couples on TAR that we've seen, is a breath of fresh air. They work so well together. And they've lasted a long time! Also, watching from this time distance, the fame of them being on Survivor seems rather insignificant, but that's probably because since then, we've seen the rise of the Kardashians and all that. Comparatively Rob & Amber are small potatoes. They really made me giggle though when referring to all the goats they were milking as "he"! -------- As I'm doing my rewatches, the non-elim mugging is even worse than I remembered. I'm so glad they stopped that. SO cringey. When they started admiring the OCEAN, I was flabbergasted! --------- As I'm watching this, I'm remembering the things I thought on originally watching. These people all seem to think that it's a group game. It's crazy! Also they wasted a lot of time working to take down other teams rather than running their own race. Very self defeating. Ugh. I barely watched it first time, and won't again. What a misstep that season was. This is so true, of every season. One of the first things that drew me into TAR was seeing all the wonderful places and peoples. If I ever feel like the racers are taking it for granted, it sours me on that team, and makes watching TAR less enjoyable until they're gone. I mean, if you're lucky enough to get on TAR, why would you not appreciate it? LOL great line, and so true! LONG POST. Sorry! At least I know I'm typing to a group of people who get it.
  11. I, too, have been a fan for over 40 years. I have to remember that IWTV is a big ole' info dump, really. Louis always *was* the talker!
  12. Agree 100%. Half the battle in winning Survivor is figuring out which kind of games works best for you, and playing it all the way through. How many times have we seen people get knocked out because they start to believe their own hype that they have perpetrated themselves? Maryanne knows who she is and knows her own skillset, and she used it perfectly. And with regards to her size, that really came home to me on the bit where they had to go over that bridge with the circular spaced out tile-thingies. It almost seemed even to make her do it - she could barely stretch that far because her limbs just weren't long enough!
  13. It seems that, while they've borrowed from the other Masterchefs in terms of format, they haven't gone the route of "all drama, all the time." It still has the UK feeling. Who is that voice telling them "You have 5 minutes left" - it's not John or Gregg!
  14. Never has a Survivor cast made me feel so old so quickly.
  15. Um, no. That's basically a perfectly valid life choice for bi people. It was mine. I'm now a widow, and am still bi. I just spent 25 years married to a man. If I do partner up again, there's an equal chance of a partner being of either gender, or gender fluid.
  16. My jaw totally dropped when she asked for it. That woman has so much gall. (and maybe a brain of oatmeal)
  17. Heather really isn't the savviest player ever.
  18. Replying before I read the thread but I swear, this show: it keeps on throwing up people I didn't even know were playing! Who's the older blonde lady who said she doesn't know how to talk anymore?
  19. They've changed formats/progression a lot over the years, but yeah, several times they would choose a top 3 for each course, then shuffle it around on the last day to get the most cohesive menu. I'm going to feel so sorry if Jude doesn't get on the menu. I can't judge the taste of tings, but oh, he's tried SO hard. And he's consistently been gracious. Agree on Roberta! And I agree on the gg, too. I adore a runny yolk, but my gallbladder would be screaming after a dinner like this! 😄
  20. Nice catch. That location makes sense to me, considering that they kept featuring the Commodore Barry Bridge in this episode, which is about 5 miles from that school. I'm from Delco (though I haven't lived there in 30 yrs) so I keep getting distracted by landmarks!
  21. So what do folks think of Rachel Kloo? I'm underwhelmed. I love Andi being on the pass.
  22. I'm cool with updating our language in that way. We have a lot of remnants of past bad behaviors still in our language. Anyway, half the time it's the "mistress bedroom" now! "Owner's suite" is good, too - I'm looking at house listings these days to move, and I'm seeing a lot of that. (I know, I haven't been around much. It's still been a tough year. I'm getting through it ok-ish).
  23. I was tweeting with a friend about this the other night and we decided that Becky is the original Becky: the Ur Becky, if you will. When she said: I just about vomited. That was disgusting. That's the ultimate in privilege. Like "ooh I had the right to earn it and I was able to so no one should say I was privileged! " She got a home run by starting from third base. And ffs, talking about all her traveling and France. SHEESH. She's that person at your high school reunion who's trying to big herself up so much that she never gets to reconnect with anyone. In the 29 years since this was on, I've been divorced, remarried and now widowed. Lived all over. And I still think the most important things about me are the things inside. I think the rest of this will be so much nicer to watch without Becky there.
  24. Seriously - especially with outbreaks in Oklahoma, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area having such spikes. We have all these stories like this one - 14 members of a family get COVID after a family gathering. Use your brains, people! You can't have a happy long marriage if it starts off infecting family members. https://www.star-telegram.com/news/coronavirus/article244505282.html
