  1. I'm entering because they have a cash option for over $1 million plus the car. That'd buy a whole lotta home here in Texas, with decor I like. :)
  2. Just to clarify, I don't think any of those people in the video were actually addicts. Those ads always use actors to read out lines. I was just wondering if Tarek did some commercial acting when he was young.
  3. Maybe so on the granite, but if I paid a half-million or more for a house, and the floors were laminate, "high-end" or not, I'd be pissed. For that money, I want wood. Not engineered, hardwood. On a different subject (and didn't we used to have a Small Talk thread here, or am I imagining it?), here's something that's been driving me crazy. I keep hearing this commercial in the background, and the voice & face of the second person in it - isn't this Tarek? I mean, these things are always actors, and it could've been done when he was much younger:
  4. Probably not so ironic - they probably couldn't qualify for the full amount, for good reason.
  5. The backsplash made my eyes hurt. It was SO cheap, obviously tile sheets, and poorly installed so that the seams were repeated in the exact same order all the way around. BTW, about the paps? In all likelihood, one of them informed TMZ that they'd be there. I mean, what are the chances that a pap is at a random Starbucks NOT in the middle of LA? They wanted to have a visible show of "we're trying to make it work."
  6. I guess she's the new standard bearer of what they're calling "post-truth" these days.
  7. http://www.newsobserver.com/living/home-garden/article109396712.html According to this, Nicole says she hid her pregnancy. Color me crazy, but I remember the silhouette shot in the window, and then the very pregnant pics of her on the beach reno show, and them mentioning it. Gosh, she likes to rewrite history. Radar online had more articles about her custody battle with the new baby's father, as well. There's no one in her life that isn't fighting with her, is there?
  8. Well, she probably buys google placement. I'm totally with you. Keep cream cheese out of my mashed potatoes! It's just icky. Garlic & butter are more than enough to gussy up mine. She doesn't use nearly enough garlic.
  9. I head-tilted at the movie star line, too. Along with him being charming. Taciturn, grumpy, silent? Yup. Charming? On what planet? That chicken parm looks awful and has one of my main gripes about Americanized-Italian: the dumping of sauce on top of the pasta rather than incorporated. The pasta ends up drying out. The wedge salad looks pedestrian. The baked goods look good - better than anything she's made on the show. The "olive cheese bread" looks like something that cat hocked up. Seriously, leave the cheese out. It'll taste and look better. Page should have her hair back. Didn't that used to be a food safety thing? 2 hours to eat there? Oh lawd, no. OK, so can we start bets on how long this will remain open? Of course, if it's strictly a vanity project funded by her tv/books, it could last a while.
  10. I dunno. At first he looked very pleased with himself, but at the end, I think it was starting to dawn on him that others won't trust him now, and that he just played his only hole card. It's not like he has some big master plan here.
  11. Have y'all seen Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager? It's been driving me crazy who she reminds me of, but seeing this, I know now. Edited to add: she skips right over all her time in L.A., doesn't she? Like dating Dave Coulier.
  12. Some links from the ATX reunion: https://austinway.com/what-happened-at-the-west-wing-reunion-at-atx-telvision-festival http://thewestwingweekly.com/episodes/001 - audio of the event. https://mic.com/articles/146044/the-west-wing-reunion-at-atx-fest-was-a-reminder-of-just-how-powerful-tv-can-be#.3h5qkHjIP
  13. How long has it been since her mom was on? Her grandparents, yeah. Some cousins too.
  14. There's always one outlier in every forum! I'm gonna go all Texas on you: bless your lil' heart. Let's see how you do when cameras are on you, m'kay? And this is a forum of fans, not a slanging board. Previously is multi-national, multi-cultural. Bake Off airs here in the U.S., too, you know. Both on our PBS, and Netflix. Lots of fans! Amazingly, we watch a lot of UK telly here, much like you get all our hit shows. Globalism is a real thing! US Kitchen Nightmares is a pile of steaming poo. It's mostly fake, the drama is ginned up beyond belief, and most of the restaurants are now closed. Ramsey is like a completely different person when on US show versus UK. And it has a dreadful voiceover narration. "US KN isn't even shown on Channel 4, it's not their sort of show. " Oh really? http://www.channel4.com/programmes/ramsays-kitchen-nightmares-usa Look, I love a lot of Ch 4 shows: "Location, Location, Location", George Clarke's shows, The Last Leg among others. But GBBO has its own feel, its own style, which in my view is incompatible with being a for-profit show. I'm obviously not alone. "...how about we get Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson?" LOL, dream high, boy. "Or, how about these two - Howard Stern and Melania Trump?" This explains an awful lot about you.
  15. Alex Guarnaschelli could do it. She can be really sweet, and she has credibility.
  16. We're ready for NICE. I'm trying to think of more to say, but isn't that the crux of it? We're ready for niceness. Enough bombast, drama, meanness. We're ready for a show where the contestants just try to do their best, they're nice to each other, supportive, and it's fun.
  17. Doing a lot of catch up here! To me, when I hear "The Merc" I think of Deadpool, "The Merc with The Mouth." Pretty sure that's not the image Ree would like to conjure. :D Her justs have been bothering me since she started. I can't believe no one has said to her that they're annoying. And I'm originally an Northerner, I'm with you on the caramel thing. It's 3 syllables. But I won't get into the argument of "is it Cair-a-mel or is it Car-a-mel?" :) Oh, you went there! Cair is how I how I say it, with 3 syllables, as is correct. Because I say so! :) Add in, Waco has 130k population versus Pawhuska. AND, it's an easy day trip from Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin or San Antonio. Pawhuska has Tulsa, OK City and Wichita - not the same population draw. I didn't know TJ had that! There's a reason for me to go. I'm diabetic, and try and do what I can to create low carb comfort food with little work. :)
  18. BBC Radio isn't geoblocked at all, happily! I listen often.
  19. Hi, I love you. ;) I am very thankful for Netflix airing GBBO, and PBS (ditto). And the PBS/Create cooking shows. Actual COOKING. I think we're *at* Idiocracy levels. I'd had HGTV in as well - now it's all entertainment, too. Man, I'd like an actual gardening show there! (emphasis mine) Here's the thing - I couldn't see who she might be because of the schtick. In food terms, it's like putting 3 inches of overly sweet icing on a 1/2" sheet cake. 2 things that might be good end up just cloying and sickening. FN doesn't get what we want - we don't want caricatures or stereotypes or pseudo-trendy pandering. We want authenticity. Whenever they've given us that, it's been a success.
  20. I found this - the page says it isn't currently airing. I don't remember it ever having aired. http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/the-kitchen-sink.html
  21. Wait, she's going to be co-hosting "The Kitchen Sink" this fall? when did it get renamed from "The Kitchen"? Which one of the hosts already there is leaving?
  22. What. The hell. Is Giada wearing? I am no prude but FFS, I don't think that much skin is appropriate for Food Network, unless it's skin on a chicken or fish. It's distracting as hell. I have the same deep fryer as that baker. And I want to make those deep fried brioche now. zomg, "On Fleek Eats" - I may hurl now. Extra fleeky. GO AWAY NOW. (This means she's going to win, right? Because I literally would go out of my way to avoid this show?) Parmesan isn't nutty. Stop using nutty to describe anything that isn't sweet, salty or sour. Lime jello. IDEK. Did they pick the most basic people to interview? I have fast-forwarded through ALL the reunion crap. I don't think I lost anything. Ugh. Well, at least she's not Lenny.
  23. The final three watch their pilots with Giada and Bobby. Finale!
  24. I know that I'm often pleasantly surprised by the shows with kids, like Chopped kids. They're frequently so much nicer than the adults.
