  1. I don't understand why people keep saying Jessica is one of the strongest vocalists in the competition, especially amongst the girls. Her voice is really nasally and she has no control over her vibrato. She reminds me of Casey James, who had that similar kind of problem (sounding like a billy goat) I like her pink hair and weird eye makeup and that's about it. Her cover of "White Flag" by Dido was a rare instance where I thought her shakiness worked for the song but otherwise I haven't really liked many of her performances. It seems like she is learning how to get out of the habits she formed by performing alone for so long, she has to learn now how to perform without her guitar and with a band. I definitely think she will make the Top 4 though.
  2. Oh I hope Joyce doesn't leave the show. I actually liked her a lot but I could see how she would have had enough of this. It probably wasn't what she thought it would be. She seems like a nice lady and level-headed. If Carlton leaves next season, I wouldn't miss her, but I'd definitely miss Joyce.
  3. I hope Carlton is gone after this season. (Although the producers might make her stick around since she hates Kyle) I just don't get this woman. According to her, she got angry with Kyle about the Catholic comment because it was a build-up of similar comments that we didn't see. I just feel like she is overly sensitive when it comes to anything concerning her religion. The fact she has an alliance with Brandi is even worse. If she was gone next season, I would not miss her. Sorry. I'm sure she can probably be a nice person in real life but I just don't like her on this show. The whole season would be her and Kyle fighting all the time.
  4. Can anyone clue me in as to what this "dream" is that everyone keeps referring to? I may have seen it but just forgotten about it. All I remember is that Kyle mentioned to someone (Joyce maybe? Can't remember who it was) that she saw these weird images on her computer that she believed were done by Carlton and she took photos with her phone. Is that what everyone's talking about? Either way, I wish they would bring that up. If they don't bring it up, I'll just assume the images were photoshopped and the whole thing was made up for drama.
  5. Yeah I felt the same way! I always knew just the heart on stain openings so when I found out there were different openings originally, it took some getting used to. It's really weird seeing the commercials for cigarettes, old Ford cars, and Instant Sanka coffee. Feels like I'm living in 1957 or something lol
  6. Sam was my original favorite but he has been lackluster these past several weeks. He has an amazing voice and he was accepted to the Berklee College of Music, so he's clearly very musically gifted. He simply lacks maturity and I don't think he's ready to be a star just yet. He seems so uncomfortable with all the female attention he gets. Maybe if he goes off to college and lives around some people his own age for a change, hangs out with some girls, maybe he will be able to channel emotions in his songs more. Right now it's just nice to listen to but you don't feel anything from it. Such a shame because his voice is fantastic. I don't think he deserves to go home just yet, considering that CJ sings out of tune every f-ing week, at least Sam is always in tune and I can stand to listen to him a few more weeks over some others. Maybe by Top 6 he should bow out.
  7. What always really bugged me about the nominations was when they would tell Ramsay they couldn't reach a decision, like if they were deciding between 2 different people for the 2nd nomination and couldn't come to a consensus on it.
  8. Doesn't TV Land air the original openings? If not, you can definitely find them on the DVD releases and even set the disc so that you can choose between the heart on satin opening or the original openings.
  9. After watching her interview today with Slezak, it seems that when Majesty was choosing songs she was thinking more about lyrics than if she could actually vocally handle the song or not. Specifically with Let It Go, Fix You, and Shake It Out, she said she was thinking mostly about the lyrics and how she could really relate to them.
  10. Sam was my original horse in the race but since he has a lot of trouble connecting to his songs and to the audience, Caleb is my man to win it all. He delivers consistently good performances every single week and even on his weaker songs (Edge of Glory, Working Man) his weaker performances are still better than some of the others' best performances. Rockers have won in the past, even if they were not classic hard rockers like Caleb is. He is a lock for Top 5, at least. It doesn't really matter whether or not he wins anyway, what matters is that someone will be interested in signing him after he's eliminated. And if he does win, we just better hope Interscope doesn't try to, pardon my French, fuck him up. What matters is that if anyone picks him up, they'll know what to do with him. I'm sure if anything he'll be quite a hoot on the tour.
  11. Oh yeah the TV Land edits are terrible. When I bought all the seasons on DVD I was surprised at how much extra footage there was that I had never seen before. The DVDs are extremely cheap to purchase. You can buy them on Amazon for around $13 each or at Target, FYE, etc. for $10 each (but they may only have certain seasons). I definitely recommend purchasing the DVDs, you also get lots of extras and of course can watch any episode whenever you want.
  12. Not exactly "Ricky Ricardo" related but I feel like Desi Arnaz's contribution to the show is often very overlooked. If it wasn't for him, the show would not have been what it was. It was his idea to film with 3 different cameras, for example. I also feel like his heritage made the show more interesting. I'm sure most fans of the show know that originally the producers wanted a different actor to portray Lucy's husband so that they could be the "typical American family." Part of the reason why people adored this show and still do is because they are the exact opposite of that. The show was a lot funnier with Ricky's mispronunciations of things and backward sayings. It's a good thing Lucille Ball convinced the producers to let Desi play the part, or who knows what sort of show we would have gotten. Not only does Ricky Ricardo serve as the foil to Lucy's plans, but his brand of comedy also contributed a lot to the show as well. Unfortunately, I feel like he's always overshadowed by Lucy.
  13. Well yeah of course he knows it will bring in the ratings but is it worth the emotional stress of dealing with nut cases like these? I am interested to see how he will handle these people.
  14. For Christmas I completed my I Love Lucy collection so now I own all the seasons on DVD, even the Final Seasons compilation. I'm working my way through the hour-long episodes at the moment. My Lucy collection also includes the 50th anniversary book with info about all the episodes and cast and Lucy's autobiography Love Lucy. It was a really great read. I'm only 20 years old but my mom had me watching Lucy from when I was really little. My best friend loves it too. Shows just how amazing that show is that it has transcended generations. Lucille Ball is one of the women I admire most because she did so many amazing things, way ahead of her time. Being the first woman to appear visibly pregnant on television, being the first woman to own a production studio… I also admire her so much for sticking up for Desi and insisting he be part of the show. Without Desi, I Love Lucy would not have been what we know it as today. The show was also way ahead of its time, being one of the first, if not the first, show to film in Hollywood instead of New York and using multiple camera angles, which was Desi's idea. I feel like what makes I Love Lucy so great is that Lucy (the character) was always determined to get whatever it was that she wanted, whether it was being in Ricky's show or getting an autograph from a celebrity or getting a designer dress, staying in the hospital with Little Ricky, getting her bonus bucks… whatever it was that she wanted, she would do anything to get it. I think that's somewhat inspiring, in a weird, comedic sort of way. It's tough to put a finger on what makes this show so special that it's never been off the air, but I think that is one of the main reasons why so many people love it, much like Lucille Ball herself.
  15. Dear God those people are delusional. A war? Really? Also, if they have such disdain for Ramsay, then why did they ask him to help them with their failing restaurant? For publicity? I'm surprised Ramsay even agreed to go back there.
  16. I've heard a lot of chefs smoke because the job is really stressful. Perhaps the show especially wants people who smoke because they know it affects their pallet, therefore they will screw up more dishes by adding too much seasoning, spice, salt, whatever, and have it sent back by Ramsay. It also makes the blind taste test more interesting.
  17. I wonder if she was a plant. Remember last season with the crazy puppet woman who voluntarily left only a couple episodes in? Since Simone seemed rather clueless in the kitchen, I feel like she might have been a plant or something.
  18. Sam was accepted to the Berklee College of Music in Boston- very prestigious music school and one of the best, if not probably the best, music school in the country. If he doesn't win Idol (which seems like a possibility at this point), I definitely think he'll attend school and hopefully develop more as an artist there. After that, he could have a great career as like the American answer to Ed Sheeran or something. Hmm that's interesting that you guys like Caleb better with short hair. I think he looks better with long hair, it just seems to suit his personality more. Plus he's a little chubby in the face, so the hair kind of covers that up. I think he has lost weight a little since that video though.
  19. I really hope next year they let Harry be the in-house mentor and they hire Adam Lambert as his replacement judge. Or hell, even Adam Lambert could be in the house-mentor if he wanted to do that. Let's face it- anyone is better than Randy. Even JLo or Paula Abdul could be a better mentor than Randy. I used to not really understand why people bashed Randy so much because at times he'll make insightful comments but lately I started seeing it. I think he is really not doing these contestants any favors. I wouldn't be surprised if he convinced Majesty to abandon her subtle, quiet style of singing and instead she should start belting out all these high notes if she wants to be "in it to win it."
  20. I think what makes people think of Caleb as "karaoke" could be due to the fact his voice sounds nearly identical to Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden). That's not necessarily a bad thing though (I love Soundgarden and Chris has a killer voice). It could also be because when people look at him they think he looks like the lovechild of Jack Black and Meatloaf. Even the judges commented in Hollywood Week he reminded them of Rock of Ages. It's probably his theatricality and over the topness that makes people not really take him seriously. If he was singing his own songs, maybe it would feel more genuine. I checked out his original song "Down By the River" on YouTube and it's pretty good. Karaoke singer or not, he's got serious rock chops which were sorely missed last season. He can be over the top and appear arrogant but he's honestly the one I'm really rooting for at this point. It's his third time auditioning for the show and I think he deserves to make it really far. Sam was my original horse in the race but he is unable to connect with the songs and with the audience and he's really shy and awkward in interviews. I just don't think he's ready to be a big star yet, maybe in a few years. I like Caleb a lot though, since he's got the pipes and the maturity (in the singing and performance sense), he commands the stage and definitely knows who he is as an artist. I love classic rock music so if he made an album full of it tomorrow, I'd sure go out and buy it. I'm sure there are many classic rock fans in the US that would like him and buy his music.
  21. Isn't the first episode scheduled to be a return to Amy's Baking Company? I really can't wait to see THAT.
  22. My first thought when watching the first episode of this show (and last night) was: "Where do they find these people?" I really think that Simone girl has something wrong with her. How suspicious was it that right after Rochelle was getting sick, Simone complains she doesn't feel well either? Hmm yeah right. I actually felt pretty disgusted watching Rochelle cook while she was hacking up a lung every 5 minutes. I wouldn't want my food to be served by someone with bronchitis! What were she and Ramsay thinking? That can't possibly be healthy- or legal- at all. There are no standouts to me so far. We won't be seeing any of the real chefs with actual talent for some weeks, unfortunately. The only standout to me is Joy, for now. Hard to say about the guys, maybe Anton? I really wish Ramsay had gotten rid of all 3 people he asked for their jackets. What was the point of him taking the jackets only to give them back? He really needs some new material...
  23. Hello everyone, this is my first post here, moving over from Twop! To answer your question, they have decided to cut down the results shows from Top 9 onwards to only 30 minutes because they knew the audience hated all that filler from previous seasons.
