  1. We've been seeing her talk about it in a promo, but I guess it's not going to be mentioned on the show? Of if it is, that's a weird not-really-a-spoiler, because the promos have been running since her first day. That really felt like the worst episode ever.
  2. I just wish for once they would say, "We're choosing you because you will make better TV." It would be less frustrating if they didn't do the "choosing" part up front. Just start with the wacky artiste or whatever difficult team they end up picking for the show.
  3. Yes -- back in olden days, I had to pay my own way to be on Jeopardy, and then I won a tv (3rd place), which was taxed at the highest possible value. It was worth it, though.
  4. Maybe it's just because of their names, but I always remember Donnie Pfaster and Eddie van Blundt. Van Blundt mostly for Duchovny looking in the mirror and saying "F...B...I"
  5. It must have been Lotus of Siam. I can't believe that guy didn't take the job offer from Joe.
  6. I think it's basically absurd to think that there is a "politically correct" choice between an Asian-American woman and a gay black man, given how overwhelmingly male AND white the ranks of "elite" chefs are.
  7. With 45 minutes for the Quickfire, and at least one more round to go, I didn't assume Doug didn't have a dessert AT ALL -- maybe he had one up his sleeve that he was saving for a major challenge, but it didn't work in the confines of the QF.
  8. And then the other one said Patronus???
  9. Yeah, I don't watch many current cartoons, but I was surprised the cast of Archer didn't feature more prominently! Sterling Archer FOR SURE.
  10. Is it because of different standards in regular vs. double jeopardy?
  11. I think they had to include the massager thing because Mark (?) made a reference to selling door-to-door in one of the other segments, I assumed as a reference to that girl, and otherwise that would have made no sense.
  12. Holy crap. In less-hideous Pnina news, I saw pictures of Sutton Foster's actual wedding, and she was in the napkin dress with the added sparkly belt we saw on the show. So there's a point for realism....
  13. That's why it's good tv, though -- half of them think they can get over on Marcus, and the other half don't know what their problems are.
  14. I think that's the kind of question that's going to be easy for a pretty specific slice of the population and nearly impossible for anyone else. Too young, and you don't remember the phenomenon. Too old, and you didn't care at the time. Not engaged in pop music or pop culture and you definitely don't care. Is it just me, or does it seem like there's a new staff person from Boston? There have been a ton of questions about Boston/MA/New England recently.
  15. Ah -- that makes sense. I had read something from Arthur about watching movies, and then something else here made me think maybe they didn't do it that way anymore. Thanks!
  16. Yeah, totally. I can see it selling a ton all at once, because there are a zillion people trying to lose weight and paying $50 seems way easier than actually dieting, but it's not going to be a lasting success. I'm guessing you're not black -- Fubu stands for "for us, by us" and was huge in the 90s in certain segments of the black community and beyond.
  17. Question for people who have been on the show more recently: Do they not have the whole panel of contestants sit in the audience any more? When I was on, we all sat through all the games taped that day. I was on a later game, and it really helped me not be nervous anymore.
  18. I was on Jeopardy a million years ago, and don't remember that chatting-at-the-end time at all, but do remember Alex as being not very nice all the way around!
  19. I wonder how much of marketing college-branded stuff is actually aimed at parents and alums. I bet it's most of the non-sweatshirt, non-shotglass market. So cutting boards and salt shakers seem like a fine idea to me!
  20. I'm Team Julia, but would be happy with any of them winning! That's what they did last week, at least. Someone must have decided that people actually care about the TOC and hate having to tape the middle-of-the-night airing!
  21. If I recall correctly, she was a "former supply chain professional," and actually unemployed at the time. And seriously, if your job (or your life) involves things that get from one place to another (like, you know, everything) you can thank a supply chain professional.
