  1. Exactly, I can't view this the same as I would in a normal situation because they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. It's why I gave leeway after I looked at the way they themselves were reacting to basically being sexually harassed and it was in pretty much the same way as they reacted to the joke.
  2. I understood what you were saying about the guns, I was trying to be playful with my reply and jokingly flipped it but no tone via post. This is my last post on this subject, too... cops talk themselves out of situations, nurses talk people into things. They're both paid to be persuasive and handle stressful, at times life and death situations as well as adapt so I view them as very similar professions due to their required skill sets. When I was studying criminal justice, I had a lot of nurses taking some of the same classes I did. I wasn't surprised by Maggie's performance, I was expecting it. I can't rank who I think were the most impressive winners because in the first couple of seasons, people weren't sure what the game was really about except for a select few who managed to catch on, well that's pretty much every season really. They've done so many different twists throughout the seasons such as this one with BotB, S11 had the high school cliques that really helped some people out, etc. The only way for me to determine that someone is a "better" winner would have been if they all played on an equal playing field (no benefit of having seen other winner's strategies) and no bs twists, just a pure game with no meddling from production. Next season I want everyone to be hungry for the win, no playing to make it to jury or hopes of stardom. I want everyone gunning for the money. I want scheming, backstabbing, people playing for themselves and not as a group. This season was boring, last season was vile (I quit after a few episodes), I want entertainment!
  3. Nursing is one of the most dangerous professions and as you mentioned, they don't have guns to protect them. A lot of them get threatened as well as verbally and physically abused at work, either by patients with diseases or family members. I know a lot of nurses, it's really tough and they are some of the most mentally strong people I know and are great manipulators. I can't say if Dan is good at coaching but he has great skills at reading people, some are just born with it while others are taught those skills and others can't seem to learn them no matter how many classes they take. I agree, the other people were dumb or too trusting, as a sales rep, Cody should have also had the skills to be more persuasive and read people but he seemed to rely too much on his looks IMO. He did play a great social game and got them to confide in him, unfortunately, he couldn't figure out what to do on his own and relied too heavily on someone else thinking for him.
  4. They said it was sick and disgusting and then said it was uncomfortable. Honestly, it's a strange situation to be in because they were also uncomfortable with Frankie touching them but they put up with it and even laughed about it, maybe they felt their hands were tied, I don't really know. Some people laugh in those situations, it doesn't mean they agree, just that we don't all react the same way. It doesn't mean they thought it was right and they said it was foul right away but Frankie took that like them agreeing and he kept on instead of stopping right away like most people I know would. I think they should have told him in no uncertain terms that that was unacceptable behavior, I was initially disgusted by the laughter but then I thought about how they themselves were dealing with Frankie touching them and not just joking about it so after watching it a few times, the disgust turned into disappointment because that should have been handled better, they could have done more but I still hold Frankie as having 80% of the blame for that but I don't think the others didn't attempt to stop it.
  5. I don't know if it's more difficult for a nurse or an undercover cop, from my understanding both professions require adaptability, self control, knowledge of psychology, persuasive skills, stress tolerance, analytical thinking, etc. Most nurses I know are pretty hardcore, that profession is not for the weak. While Derrick did have some luck, I wouldn't say his win was pure luck, he worked nonstop to keep himself from being nominated even though pretty much everyone at some point or another said it wasn't fair he hadn't gone up. As pretty much the entire jury admitted, he had a hand in all of their eliminations, so he did help orchestrate the evictions of the people he couldn't manipulate. Games are lost on cockiness, if he hadn't eliminated the threats to his game regardless of how minor they seemed then he probably wouldn't have won. If he and Donny had been F2, Derrick would have lost. The same with Nicole. He was lucky that people didn't really start playing until it was too late but then that's on them, not him. ETA: Good coaches are great at manipulating people, they know how to read them and "coach" them into doing what is needed.. I really don't understand why some professions are underestimated but obviously, YMMV.
  6. I missed the games, too :(. I searched online, haven't seen any new commercials posted. Maybe tomorrow.
  7. Nobody's saying to only make positive comments about the HG's, I like Derrick and I've made negative comments about him! Only positive comments are boring and I really do like differing opinions. Honestly, though, I've respected your opinion a lot because even though I haven't agreed with all of your views I understand them. I appreciate that there's a line you won't cross and from what I've seen, even though you have your favorites it doesn't mean you sweep everything they do under the rug and you don't just make negative comments about others just to make them. Sometimes good people do not so nice things and vice versa but there are times when it seems like Derrick's glue while others are teflon in regards to how he gets roasted while others get passes for their behavior.
  8. I didn't see any special accommodations, she seemed pretty confident and positive throughout the whole thing and excited about the tasks except for the digging which she chose not to do.
  9. I know plenty of sexist men that talk negatively about their families, in fact usually they can't seem to help it but talk shit about their mom's and sister's from personal experience. I think the main argument is that I haven't seen anyone say that everything Derrick does is wonderful. When people state their opinions as fact, yes, more people are prone to defend but that's because there's different perceptions and we don't all see the same thing the same way. I really don't view him as a celebrity, he's a regular person IMO who happened to do a reality show, to me, that means that I see his flaws but also his positive qualities. The flip side to people who identify so closely to "celebrities" is that they also tend to point the finger at their favorite's competition while making excuses for their favorite's actions. One tends to become a villain while the other is seen as a martyr. I see no villain, I've seen everyone, even Frankie do something positive in the house, just like I've seen everyone, even Donny do negative things. I believe everyone has some good and negative qualities, I don't see it as black and white.
  10. Yeah, I agree, Cody's pride won't let him watch to confirm how he got played but I'm pretty sure he knows deep inside.
  11. I liked her in both seasons of BB and TAR even though she's annoying. I liked how in S13 she would say "we won" instead of just I won when she and Jordan were by themselves towards the end. I loved her comments about floaters and the way she threw herself into competitions and was not afraid to make herself a target but rather seemed to invite it. It's weird but I actually appreciate both styles, her over the top and Derrick's more stealth one. Pretty much I think I just like people that came to play regardless of their strategy.
  12. That's fine, I'm not trying to change your mind about him or convert you to liking him, I'm just trying to show a different perspective to be fair to him based on what I've seen and read. I viewed his reaction to the rape joke in a different way, I didn't see him laughing at it or encouraging it but rather as joking uncomfortably and trying to switch it to the zing bot especially since he said it was disgusting but obviously YMMV. The only one I saw as clearly wrong in that situation was Frankie because I thought the "20-something idiots" were clearly, to me, very uncomfortable in that situation and were trying desperately to change the topic. Everyone in that house has at one point or another made some very shitty comments or done shitty things, nobody is excluded. Personally I expected more maturity from the older HG's but apparently some are more justified in engaging in childish, petulant behavior than others even though they were all dealt the same cards. Out of the 16 cast, 10 of them are 26 or older, that's really not that young.
  13. http://bigbrotherlivefeedupdates.blogspot.com/2014/06/meet-derrick-levasseur-assume-position.html That interview is from before BB started filming where once again Derrick explained his strategy. http://www.bigbrotherbuzz.com/2014/06/21/exclusive-a-family-perspective/ That's an interview with Jana from before the show started where she said he's extremely close to his parents. Maybe there's some resentment and he thought it was irresponsible since based on everything he's said, he and his family were very poor but I truly doubt he thinks his mom is slutty. I'm close to my family and I love them but I know there are some hurtful things in the past that would definitely bring up bad memories and angry tones. He said on the first interview that he was looking for one person to trust and that he didn't care if they were male or female so long as he could trust them or if they were on the other side of the house. He was undercover in the house, when undercover people say some things they don't necessarily mean, he read that house as pretty anti-feminist and took on that stance, right or wrong, he did that to fit in. Based on what people that know him have said and the way he talks about his family, I doubt he's actually sexist.
  14. I'm not denying or excusing that. Like I said, he has a lot to own up to but he's not some evil guy, for the most part he's pretty nice. http://www.people.com/article/frankie-grande-talks-big-brother Why did People give Frankie an interview? Like his head needs to get bigger!
  15. I agree with you on that, it was one of the reasons it took me a while to like him as a player. It didn't vibe with the way he would talk about his wife and daughter so I was put off by it. Per an interview, Brittany said he initially approached her to work together because they connected as parents and according to her, she said some things to him that she probably shouldn't have and she can see why she was eliminated. She said she messed up her game. Do I think he needs to apologize for and own up to some things? Of course I do, just like pretty much almost everyone else.
  16. They all agreed as an alliance not to talk to her, Derrick wasn't viewed as a strong player so his "threatening" them of being nominated didn't really seem to have anyone scared. He manipulated them into agreeing but he didn't try to physically intimidate them which is a big difference when some people talked about him being a corrupt cop and probably beating people up to get confessions. Cody started with the punching talk and Cody was mostly talk, he didn't seem like a violent guy and I'm pretty sure Derrick realized that which again goes into the frat boy mentality. I never saw anyone say they were scared or threatened by Derrick.... manipulated, guilted, played, etc, yes but they also mostly talked about how nice he was and how he loved his family.
  17. That recap had a few things that stood out, their perception of each HG and the vibe they got when they met them especially. Derrick was nice and obliging but had family drama, Cody, Hayden, Zach and Caleb were sweet. Brittany was nice, surprisingly, Christine also. Donny was nice when asked to take a picture but then this about Donny in the next sentence: "Funny, I wanted to hug him when I was envisioning meeting him on finale night, but when I saw him, I didn't want to at all. He isn't an inviting person like I thought he'd be. He wasn't like Caleb and Hayden, all open and welcoming. Maybe that is the vibe that the other HGs got from him. Like with Amber, I felt that odd fakeness from her that the HGs had felt. What we see on TV and what they in the house feel are completely different, but I literally felt those vibes when I met these people....and without any prejudicial forethought -- I went in wanting to meet these people but felt a weird vibe in person that negated my previous impressions, and it matched what the HGs felt."
  18. Cody said he's not going back to sales, he's an investor. I don't think Derrick is threatened by women considering he seemed very proud announcing that his wife runs things. It's weird to me having read all the accusations thrown Derrick's way this season, I've seen people call him a corrupt cop, a misogynist, abusive, things about what kind of father and husband he must be and apparently every single word out of his mouth is a lie, etc and all because he chose to play a game strategically and outsmarted most of the HG's. I never saw him threaten a HG, I saw him playing a role to try to fit in with the young and immature HG's, yes, I saw him being emotionally manipulative but I also saw him be polite and courteous to most of the HG's. Did he make statements I don't agree with? Of course he did, but I don't see the evil POS a lot of people apparently see. To me, his biggest mistake was that he did not make good TV.
  19. I'm not surprised considering he wants to do Big Brother again and when he mentioned his girlfriend having been approached to do a reality show that she turned down he said he would talk to her. He's a big reality TV fan and said he's willing to go on another show. The people he partied with are "good" people so maybe he made an exception for them and stayed up while he networked in Vegas.
  20. Interesting. Thank you for that information, like I said, I was confused because it's a small town with some hotels, even a 5 star one where some celebs stay when they go there to surf. If they've managed to stick them in a little area and sequestered them then it makes sense, though.
  21. My parents don't watch much TV and are definitely not into surfing but they know who Bethany is, maybe not by name but when they saw her, they knew.
  22. I've never seen Survivor before and decided to give it a shot since a lot of people on another thread suggested it so I was pleasantly surprised to see they're in San Juan del Sur. I googled and saw they've been there before. I don't understand why they're calling it an island, though, it's a coastal town. Nicaragua is not an island, it has little islands all throughout that are pretty cool and I want one but San Juan del Sur is not one of them. There are a lot of people in that area, it's well known for surfing, fishing, being a tourist location and is close to the border of Costa Rica. I'm trying to figure out if they're in Ometepe which actually is an island. Sorry for the rant, I was excited since I'm from Nicaragua but am surprised by that location being considered "roughing" it considering I go there on vacation. I'm glad one of the twinnies is gone, they weren't as obnoxious separate but they were getting there. I want either the other twinnie or John out next. As for that guy from Florida that said there's nothing like that here, I guess he's never been to the Everglades.
  23. Cody likes to brag. A lot. Like a lot of young guys he likes flashy things, from my understanding based on how he talks, he's more into style than substance hence the cars he has. He got a business degree from a nice expensive school, a job he didn't like and isn't planning on returning to but he got because he felt he should since he has that degree. I'm not saying he won't regret his decision deep down inside but I think he's the kinda guy who's ego won't let him admit it, not to himself or anyone else. He's talking about investing his money, I hope he doesn't get swindled in some get rich quick scheme. He reminds me of those people that win the lottery and end up broke right away TBH. Even though $50k isn't a huge amount of money, it's still more than he had, may he get solid financial advice from a good investor
  24. I was raised putting cucumbers in my tuna, adds a nice little crunch IMO :), I always thought it was a Hispanic thing, nice to know Brits do it, too.
