  1. Wait, how is what Horton said inaccurate? Sun Yang did cheat by taking a performance-enhancing drug, so calling him a drug cheat wasn't inaccurate. He may have served his three-month ban, but he did cheat there; he is also a bully and a total asshole, and Horton's close victory over him felt like karmic justice.
  2. Same here. That was the best result of the day, as far as I'm concerned. I'm suspicious about Hosszu. I'll just leave it at that.
  3. The slight frontrunner at this point seems to be Paris, in part, I think, because it didn't get the 2012 Games. Rome just elected an anti-Games mayor; it's not getting the Games. It's really between Paris and LA. I feel like NBC (and its astronomical payment to the IOC for broadcasting rights) will lean very heavily on the IOC to give LA the Games, and it would be a very profitable, seamless Games. Plus, it will have been almost thirty years since the Summer Games have been in North America with Europe and Asia getting them twice each and Australia and South America once each in the interim; it might be time. As an Olympics junkie, the thought is pretty exciting; as an Angeleno, the inevitable traffic apocalypse makes me want to go on vacation for two weeks should we actually get the Games.
  4. I loved these; actually, they might be my favorite opening ceremonies. Of the recent opening ceremonies, I wasn't a fan of Beijing's desperate-to-impress largesse at all, I thought London's were very charming, but I really loved the color and energy of these; it felt very Brazilian and very Carioca to me, in a good way. I visited Rio about four months after the World Cup, and despite its problems (and there are obviously a LOT), it's an amazingly beautiful, wonderful city. And that Tongan flag bearer...looooooord have mercy...
  5. Actually, you are a crackpot, but I suspect that is heavily tied to your obvious preference for Rafael; as doram said, there's no way this article would have been written if Rafael had been in Michael's place.
  6. Ross was an emotionally abusive, possessive, jealous, hypocritical asshole who didn't wait even fifteen hours into the break/"break" to bone some other woman. He was 1973746298352% in the wrong and can go die in a fire.
  7. Kill the goddamn love triangle! Kill it now! There's just no way I can now buy Jane with Rafael; it would also apparently require her to dump Michael at the altar, and I think she would be irredeemable if she did that, exigent circumstances or not. I personally think Justin Baldoni is such a boring actor that I'd be delighted if they killed him off. He has no chemistry with anyone on the show, and I never bought his romance with Jane. I have a friend who works on the show; when I mentioned how little chemistry I thought Baldoni had with the the other actors, my friend said, "He has chemistry. With himself." So, yeah, even though it won't happen, I'd love for him to go. Jane was such a self-righteous bitch to Petra in that last scene of theirs.
  8. LOL. That's not even remotely what happened, but OK. Others have addressed why, so I won't rehash it. The end of the doorman story was one of the most heartbreaking things I've seen on this show; Meredith looked horrified, and there's a part of me that wishes she'd outed him (not a big part, just the small, petty part).
  9. Well, I personally feel like we all learned a Very Important Lesson about gun safety tonight. I'm as anti-gun as anyone, but even Gandhi watched this episode from the great beyond and was like, "Shonda, hon, WE GET IT." Team Arizona. Period. Full stop. Callie is acting, as usual, like an impulsive, selfish, thoughtless dickhead. It doesn't help that a big reason I'm so anti-Callie is that she and Penny have negative chemistry. It's like trying to force together the North poles of two very powerful magnets; it's just not happening. Normally, I would take Bailey to task for her condescension toward Callie, but it was 100% earned in this case. Speaking of Bailey, she was pretty shitty to Ben, but he's such a total jackhole that I don't care if she's awful to him. He can be the one to die in the next cataclysm to befall this group of people. I give Maggie props for immediately apologizing to the babysitter for unfairly taking her to task, and Amelia is on week four of being cool. Who'd have thought it?
  10. Jesus. Maddie, Cash, and Frankie, please go die in a fire. Girl, girl, boy, bye. Rayna, you're sucking so much. While I'm against corporal punishment, I'll make an exception just this once: you need to stop trying to plead and negotiate with your demon spawn and just whoop her ungrateful ass. If I had talked to my mother the way Maddie talks to Rayna, her reaction would have made Krakatoa's eruption look like a hiccup.#endofdays Will, I will MORE than happily date you.
  11. I vividly remember the day my mom had to put down her horse. Elizabeth with Buttercup was like my mom with her horse when it was time, and it got miiiiiiighty dusty during those scenes. Oh, and shut up, Henry.
  12. Oh lord. I guess at this point I shouldn't be surprised that anyone can get away with anything on this show, but Ben's entitled attitude and Bailey's utter hypocrisy...they can both go eat a bag of infinite dicks. Riggs may have been an asshole to Owen's sister, but Owen's and Meredith's using that as an excuse to mistrust his medical decisions? No. Owen is the fucking worst, and he's tarnishing Meredith. I'm definitely Team Arizona. It's Callie's (idiotic) decision to move and disrupt her, Arizona's, and Sofia's lives, so she needs to be the one to reach out to Arizona and discuss it with her. I don't know if I necessarily think Arizona needed to run to a lawyer about it, but Callie absolutely should have discussed it with her first. Maggie and Amelia were the only two doctors behaving professionally, so...yeah.
  13. Oh, Maddie, the call is coming from inside the house, you know what I mean? Maddie's the worst, though, so I don't care. Do your worst, Cash.
  14. What a finale! I'm so glad Clive finally knows, as I spent much of the first hour squawking at Liv/my television to tell Clive. I'm sad that his knowing led to Dale's dumping him, but he was in an impossible situation there. I was really sad that they killed Drake, as I liked him and Liv and he was hot, but I understand why it happened. I'm also a little sad Rita's gone, but at least she got revenge on her shitty father before Major took her out (in a totally bad-ass way); I don't know how she would have fit into the plot long-term, so I guess she kind of had to go. Major's "Sup?" and shit-eating grin upon seeing Ravi and Peyton were my favorite things Robert Buckley's ever done. I laughed so hard. Very, very excited for next season!!
  15. I hadn't been getting the feeling Mchael was dying until this episode. There was way too much talk of his being perfect, and I'm now starting to freak out a bit!! Jane was reallllly harsh with Xo, but Xo should not be giving that same speech multiple times and not actually changing her behavior in any way; in that sense, I think Jane was sort of justified.
  16. Kelly Rutherford is 47, not 37, so at least there is an 18-year age difference. I agree that Kevin Kilner's woeful attempt at a Southern accent was like nails on a chalkboard, though. Good lord.
  17. It seemed pretty clear to me that Penny applied for the magical grant after hearing Steph trash-talk her, so Steph brought that on herself and can sit the fuck down. Jo and her unwarranted, bitchy reaction can join. I also did not get the sense at all that Amelia machinated to get Penny the grant and be rid of her, and her "this is the attendings' lounge" response to Steph was perfect. And oh my god, Kevin McKidd, SHUT UUUUUPPPPPPP!
  18. OK, first of all, the US uses the Enhanced Fujita scale for tornadoes, so that F4 classification and the accompanying wind speeds Sly was talking about are almost ten years obsolete. Second of all, while there have been tornadoes in Vietnam before, they're not common and would never be that strong. There are very few places in the world where F4 or EF4 tornadoes occur or have occurred, and Vietnam is not among them. And making it dissipate with dry ice? No. I know this show is ridiculous, but the meteorology nerd in me just couldn't with that crap.
  19. I kiiiiind of lost it when Petra was revealed to be the house's owner. It's amazing: she's gone from the worst to the best character on this show, and I absolutely love her and Jane's friendship(?). I'm trying ignore the doomsday predictions for Michael. I love him and Jane together so much, and Brett Dier is just wonderful.
  20. Definitely, and that someone was also definitely not the valedictorian at Harvard-Westlake.
  21. I literally set up an account just so that I could post that even though there is nothing believable about this show, the possibly least believable thing is that the valedictorian of Harvard-Westlake, whose students I've tutored for over ten years, would ever, ever, EVER go to USC. I had to pause my DVR because I was laughing so hard. Like, that new character would've gone to Harvard or Stanford. USC wouldn't even be her back-up: Penn would. Also, shut up, Shelby.
