  1. His looks aren't that weird to me, but his actions have me totally scratching my head. I WANT to feel like he's just trying to be respectful and that he's a gentleman and I should respect him for not hopping into the sack straightaway. He's being so awkward and strange about it, though, that I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. Ben is kind of cute and awkward in an "aw, bless him" kind of way; Tim acts like he doesn't even want to be there.
  2. There is no "in the moment" with her. She's constantly reading into everything and trying to manipulate the situation into proposal territory. I wonder what she'd be like if someone DID propose to her? Would she actually relax a little? Feel like some of the pressure is off? (Her sister seems to be happy enough to be forever engaged.) Or would she then just morph into Bridezilla? She's a tween dreaming about a "proposal" and probably a wedding. She doesn't seem to put any thought into an actual relationship.
  3. I gave up cable and have Philo and it has everything I need. All those channels are available and you can watch everything On Demand. The only "catch" is that you don't get local channels. Between Philo and Hulu I get everyone on Network TV that I want to watch.
  4. I agree. He may have been pushed to marry her, but he's had many choices along the way: the choice to lie to Jenny about being married, the choice to lie to his family about his new "job", the choice to lie to production...He also made the choice to speak negatively on international television about the woman he's married to. It's not about who he's in love with or what cultural differences there are-it's about respect. I'm sure the arranged marriage was difficult for him. He may very well not have wanted to do it. He did, though. If he'd told Jenny at the time then maybe she could've brought him over on the K-1 THEN and saved a bunch of people a headache. Dude's a spineless wimp and I have zero sympathy for him.
  5. Pow and Roos. Boo! I was kinda hoping for Chelsea and Yamir, mostly because there's was the one wedding that I actually coveted.
  6. Then why have the women come to their country and marry them at all? The reason we went with the fiance visa and not the spousal visa is because it is cheaper and takes less time. For the Americans to go to the foreign country, marry, and then try to bring the spouse back to the US you're looking at a shit ton of money and a very long wait-the average time is around 3 years. If the ultimate goal is American citizenship then why not come over on the K-1? It's cheaper, there's less paperwork, and, in some cases, only takes 6 months.
  7. Because their priority is to entertain. Before these shows even go into production, producers are doing surveys, experimenting with control groups, and hiring folks to do in-depth research on audience stats. They then cast the participants based on the outcomes of these things. As @Yeah No said, it's a reality show first and competition second. They may not have the #1 person picked from the beginning, but the whole purpose of the show is to drive viewership. There's no way they're going to chance that outcome to great cooks. For many of us, sitting back and watching the best cooks duke it out to the end would be enough. Unfortunately, that's not what drives the largest viewership-they want drama, big personalities, conflict, etc. Production can't chance too much of that. In other shows, like Hell's Kitchen, no way is the owner of the restaurant, or Ramsay himself, going to take the chance on an unknown "running" the restaurant. (In actuality, the "winner" usually just gets offered a sous chef position.) They're going to vet the hell out of those contestants from the very beginning and have a pretty good idea of who they want before the first few episodes are even filmed.
  8. I had zero background information on Flagg or any subtext there, and was only speaking from the perspective of an audience member watching the movie for entertainment purposes due to the fact that several of my favorite actresses appear in the film. I clearly hit a nerve, and I'm sorry for that, but my intentions were not to belittle or undermine, it was simply to express a personal opinion from a causal perspective of a viewer who just enjoys the movie because I'm a fan of Jessica Tandy and Kathy Bates and I like eating at the real Whistlestop Cafe in Georgia. To be honest, I'm not real sure how to respond to the rest of your comment to me because it feels totally off from my original point and comment and I don't want to clog up the board with so much off topic stuff.
  9. My daughter takes dance and gymnastics from Kashara's mom and back over the summer she came and helped out with their show. She choreographed a few of the dances and also ran the music during their performances. The little ones love her.
  10. Me too. He was wrong to cheat, but he DID make an effort to separate and get out of the marriage once he was "caught." Everyone in this scenario had choices to make: Mark chose to cheat and then to divorce Jennair, Mistress chose to cheat on HER husband (but then did divorce him), and Wife chose to resort to murder/suicide. They all played some part in the tragedy that happened, but Jennair's part was way bigger than what the other two did. Is Mark a smarmy douchebag? Yes. I don't like him, but Jennair's choices hurt a shit ton of people (family, friends, co-workers, etc) and Mark will have to live the rest of his life knowing that even though she was responsible, she was reacting to something he did. That sucks, too. None of these folks seemed particularly likable, but that doesn't mean any of them deserved what happened.
  11. I don't think Avery ever had any intentions of living in Syria. Hell, even Omar wants to leave there and go to the US...I think Avery wanted to be on TV and considering what a hot topic Syria is at the moment, applied for the show with that being her "shocking" storyline. My guess is that she'll travel back to Lebanon to secure her place in next season's shitshow and then either Omar will be able to move to the US or they'll somehow drift apart and have the marriage annulled (or whatever they can do it it). She may genuinely like Omar and may even be a little infatuated with the culture and religion right now since she's still in the honeymoon phase of ALL of it, but once the excitement and shock to her family wears off, I don't think she'll press forward.
  12. Caesar is going to spread his storyline out as far as he can make it go...Now he's trying to cement his spot for next season by declaring that he's going to go to the Ukraine. Trust me, Caesar, you're not nearly as interesting as you think you are.
  13. I think their storyline is a big pile of dog poo. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they've pulled a Molly and Luis and are already married. I think they're doing the show for entertainment and maybe some exposure for their "bar." My guess is that on the very last episode Evil Lyn will finally have a come to Jesus moment and realize that Corey is the love of her life and proclaim her love for him and they'll get married just in the nick of time...
  14. Now that we've had some spoiler stuff about Laura, I can't watch her scenes the same way anymore. And while I get what Liam's saying, and he's not really wrong, Coltee Jr losing his shit about Mama potentially taking the attention away from him her baby boy has me both fascinated and kinda depressed.
  15. At this point, Florian and Tom have waaayyy more chemistry than Tom and Darcey or even Stacey and Florian. I could watch an entire show of Tom and Florian just reacting, together, to to the Silva twins' antics. Darcey is a needy, emotional wreck but unlike some of these crazies, however, she does seem like a nice person. She's also clearly got some issues. While the snarky side of me enjoys Tom messing with her, the human side of me feels bad. Girlfriend seems on the edge of a nervous breakdown, and yet it's still due to choices that she's made herself.
  16. Oh yeah, on the entertainment factor I can't get enough of it.
  17. Tom's either trolling Darcey or they're trolling us, and due to the number of times she's been in tears, my money is on her not being in on it. I enjoy him as entertainmrnt fodder, but as a man I think he's a prick. FWIW, my British (and fairly upperclass) husband loves "flea markets" more than me, and though he grew up vacationing on the Greek Islands and spending summers at their vacation house on the Costa del Sol, he's never once looked down his nose at Eastern European destinations. Acting like you're too good for off-touristy destinations is not a sign of high class-it's a sign of douchebaggery. We get it, Tom, Albania is not your idea of a sexy place to get laid. Considering you basically catfished a woman who's starting to look like she's had appointments with Jim Henson and not the plastic surgeon and that you look repulsed by the idea of touching her, it's not like you two are channeling the great icons of the silver screen and giving up the Monte Carlo social season for the Daytona 500 to begin with...
  18. It's not that Liam is wrong, but this whole fight seems weird. He's not a baby.
  19. Thanks. I gladly accept all forms of positive vibes!
  20. Homefrie didn't just cheat, either. He cheated with a grandmother...on television. I'm #TeamWifeSumit
  21. Believe it or not, a tumor is in my sphenoid sinus and it's grown so large that it's pressing on an artery, causing stenosis. I've had 2 strokes in the past 4 weeks and now I have fluid and an infection around my heart, causing heart failure...from what basically amounts to a sinus infection. I have surgery scheduled for Friday. They're waiting for my bp to lower. Is it wrong that the thought of catching up with these fools was an incentive? I seriously need to get out more.
  22. I've been out of the loop for a week. Why is Mrs Claus wearing a crown of broccoli?
  23. Yeah, that's what I feel. I think their relationship with each other is real enough, just can't wrap my mind around what their endgame was. Maybe Jenny thought that she'd find a job in India and would be allowed to stay there for work (not how that works, but she's not the crispiest fry in the happy meal). They may have thought that having an apartment together and him going back and forth would be worth it. His family showing up and causing the drama (assuming that really happened) is probably what rocked their boat and upset the plans.
  24. Yeah, none of it really makes sense no matter what angle it's looked at. I still think they could be heads-in-the-sand kind of people: they thought that they'd get some publicity and low level fame, perhaps make a little cash on the side, and Jenny possibly getting a free plane ticket out of it and that nobody in Sumit's life would ever know... For all we know, the "marriage" of Jenmit was never on the table. Rather than selling all her stuff or giving it away, it could be back in a storage unit in California. Maybe staying the 90 days in India was all she ever planned on doing since she knew they couldn't get married. They just didn't expect his family to find out that quickly and to come and crash the party before those 90 days were up.
  25. I know what you mean. The "real Maria" is probably some overweight, middle-aged man. What I am wondering is if the photos we've seen are the ones that "Maria" actually sent Caesar or if they're pictures that production found online after "Maria" refused to give consent.
