S04.E06: Can't Buy Me Love
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days
I think Darcy has some severe abandonment issues. It's not Tom or Jesse that she wants, it's the fact that THEY don't want HER. Despite all her "strong woman" platitudes, her whole identity is based around men and attention from them. When one stops wanting to be with her, it completely shifts her foundation. She's flighty and seems directionless in that she doesn't appear to have any real goals, interests, or plans. She wants to be a model, an influencer, a reality star, a singer, a fashion designer...By attaching herself to these guys, she gets a temporary anchor. Now she can take on THEIR life and interests and it takes the pressure off of her to do anything with her own life. She wants an engagement as soon as they meet, she pictures herself living in their country before she's even out of the cab. Her attachment to the attention also makes her highly suceptible to falling in with men with bad intentions. The men themselves are interchangeable; their jobs, country of residence, interests, etc don't matter as long as they're reasonably attractive and act into her. I don't know how she's mentally stable enough to do this show, and I don't think she should. She's gonna bottom out soon and it won't be pretty. I feel sorry for her and yet....it's a damn interesting trainwreck to watch. I can't look away. -
All Episodes Talk: Lorelai and Rory and the People They Love
mamadrama replied to solotrek's topic in Gilmore Girls
I'm doing another watch-through and I am once again struck by how frustrated I get with Sookie. There are many times when Sookie goes out of her way to do incredible things for Rory and Lorelai, and I think Lorelai takes advantage of her, but there are also times when I want to hit Sookie over the head with a frying pan. The catered birthday party, for one. Didn't she help Lorelai with Rory's birthday parties for years? They say that in an earlier episode. So I don't buy that she doesn't know what to cook for kids. -
LA is so scary and I'm so worried about my kids and I just know we're all going to be murdered! There's only ONE way to make this situation better-to have another baby! Dafuq?

Homeboy's been listening to too much Shaggy. It wasn't me!

David and Lana: The Seven-Year Ditch
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I still think he's friends with a producer, maybe via his sister Robyn, and he's either doing this as a favor (or lark) or he IS wanting to promote something that doesn't exist yet (like a vlog). Generally, though, he'd already have that out in time for his premier so that he could strike while the iron was hot. Maybe he's just really bad at it. -
Hell, if that's one of the signs then they'll have to quarantine most of us. Think anywhere has a room for 115?

David and Lana: The Seven-Year Ditch
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
So when I figured out that he and I have been FB friends for awhile (since before the 90 Day franchise was even a thing) I sent out some messages to friends in common. NONE of them had ever heard of Lana. He was supposedly "with" her for seven years and spent all that money and went to see her 3 times yet nobody knew about her? The concesus seems to be that Lana is an online friend from that dating service and he talked her into going along with this for the show. She didn't stand him up in the past and he hasn't spent money on her. It's basically a Caesar and Maria situation. (Although Maria had no idea she'd be painted as the bad guy in the fake story.) According to David's sister, even she didn't know about Lana and says she has no idea if they're engaged or not. I could see him keeping the engagement a secret for NDA reasons, but Lana's existence? Between Tim and his fake story and Corey with his and Caesar (not to mention the others) I'm feeling pissed. -
Ed and Rosemarie: The Long and the Short of It
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I think Big Ed is seeking attention from KJ and trying to hook his wagon to hers. And yeah, the more I read and watch, the more I think he and Rose were set up by production, or someone else, and it's all fake. I think her anger about the STD convo was legit because she thought he embarrassed her by taking it too far. I also think the Lana/David story is fake. -

I think Usman underestimated BellyGuhlVisa. He probably thought she was "old" and homely so it wouldn't take much on his part to make her smitten. Probably figured he could throw her some cliches, write"her" a song, give her a few rounds in the sack and he'd have one foot out the door of Nigeria. She'd be so grateful to have a young "celebrity" that she'd eat out of his hand. He probably didn't count on her being so demanding, belligerent, and rude in person. 20 minutes after meeting her at the airport he probably realized he'd bit off more than he could chew and now he's thinking OH SHIT. -
Ed and Rosemarie: The Long and the Short of It
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
Yeah, I hate it when the "dirt" is homosexuality-centered and it's meant to be all shocking and everything. Please. All these fools are fronting. There's probably not a single one in the mix who isn't hiding something or didn't get into this for ulterior motives. -
I know these people exist, but I am still shocked that people like Lisa honestly believe that a guy like Usman would be interested in her. It's not even her age, she just looks BAD. Terrible personality, not attractive, demanding, controlling, rude, and vulgar. Watching this, however, has made me grudgingly admit that Michael and Angela may have some genuine affection for each other. Of course, in Michael's case, it's probably due to Stockholm Syndrome but still...

Not nearly as interesting as it sounds, unfortunately. -

I miss blood carrying, knife yielding Angie of yesteryear. Blessing him while he dressed like a baby and hung out in Pe-Air-e's crib. -
Ed and Rosemarie: The Long and the Short of It
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
Maybe. She might have seen an opportunity in a show that had never shown a same sex couple. My kids watch a shit ton of YouTubers and someone is always pretending to be gay/bi for views. He'll, JayStation (asshole) used to pretend to buy "gay juice" from the Dark Web so that he could pretend to be gay for 24 hours. There are some sick fuckers out there who will do most anything for clout or views. That's just an idea, though. Not one I necessarily believe. What I DO believe is that their romantic relationship is fake, not their sexuality. I feel the same way about some of the straight couples. -

I have friends from the Philippines and they say they don't like living like that, either. It's not just us viewing this through an American filter: Rose herself has said she wants a better life for her and her son. I grew up slightly better than the people around me (as in we had food because of our farm) but I still strove for something better. -

And the true story, the spoilers, that hasn't been addressed on the show (yet) is way more interesting than anything they may be making up. I like the trashy stuff, don't get me wrong, but I think there's enough crazy real life stories already out there. They don't have to fake it. -

Oh, she's a total Karen. Guys like that are constantly looking for ways to play victim so that when they do lash out at their partner they feel morally justified. -

I actually like Usman and I feel sorry for him. I can't believe the number of times this season I've caught myself thinking "Well at least Angela..." -
I think it would be fun! My husband runs a pretty successful podcast and he often has half a dozen people on there at once. He videotapes the sessions and uses them on his website and You Tube. He uses Zoom. I think we're funnier than the Pillow Talk folks.

I know the bar keeps getting lowered, but I have trouble believing that there are still people as stupid as David out there. He can't believe what he's saying, I refuse to believe it. Nobody's that dumb. I think there's something else going on, and I haven't figured out what it is yet. I still think maybe this is all just fake, like with Caesar and Tim, and he's doing this as a favor to someone in production. I know all these people are fools, but David is a new low. Geoffrey and his double standards can go sit the fuck down. How many foreign women was HE talking to before settling on Varya? I can't even with this jackass. Manipulative and gaslighting asshole. Run, Varya, run! Speaking of gaslighting, Tom is once again trying to do it with Darcy...He knows what to say to push her buttons. He can also GTFO with his "I want to see where this is going" and "I love her more than she'll know." No you don't. NOTHING about your actions, off or on the show, back these things up. At best you realized that she was your golden ticket and you needed to get an extra 15 minutes of fame to get back in the game. Ed has no business crying with his double standards. So far we've seen him lie to her at least twice, yet he's upset because she may not be truthful? He can go sit in a corner with David and Geoffrey. -

mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days
As RR said above, I don't think it's "easy" at all, and that's certainly not what I meant in my post. I live in one of the poorest parts of the country. The War on Poverty was literally started here and declared on a relative's porch. Every child in our county is eligible for free lunch because 70% of the families here live below the federal poverty limit. Few people from this area are able to rise out of the poverty. It's certainly not EASY, but the possibility DOES exist. I was one of those kids. Obviously there are roadblocks and setbacks and some people struggle and try as hard as they can and they never "make it." Still, I maintain that the opportunity DOES exist, even if it's just in theory. In some countries it doesn't even exist in theory. I don't think anyone here has said or implied that everyone in the US can easily change their situation and that becoming successful is just a matter of trying. -
Funny that they were meeting up with influencers for the cross posting, yet Gaelle hasn't tagged or mentioned Whitney in any of the Insta posts that I can see..
-
I feel like the French "influencer" is looking around like who the fuck ARE you people? I've decided that the Whitney/Chase relationship IS fake, but that Whitney isn't in on the scam...

Yeah, like, "Naw girl, I'm not having one of your foreign needles stuck in me-just think of the awful diseases I could get from people like you. I'll wait while you do it, though, and if you won't then you can go back to sleeping on the floor..." Pretty sure either Pole did it there or he at least took his results with him. I can remember him having it done. -

Yeah, it wasn't that he asked her to have a test done that offended me-it's that he didn't arrive with his own results or offer to get one done along with her. If he trusted the local doc's office to test his "queen" then he should've had one done as well. I can understand his reasoning (after all, they don't really know each other) but it was the one-sidedness that bothered me-not to mention the way it was presented. He basically said that since she won't talk about her past, he doesn't trust her. Does that mean that if she'd sat there and given him a blow by blow he would have trusted her? I'm with her for getting upset (and embarrassed since this was done in a public place, on camera, instead of worked out beforehand) but if I'd been her I'd have said, "Sure! I'll get one done. And then when YOU get one done and show me the official results then I'll consider a physical relationship with you." He's a hypocrite. He's accusing her of hiding stuff and not being honest when we know he's lied about things himself.
