  1. I think the first time I personally said that was 1978.
  2. Well, since Conan was a writer and appeared once or twice on SNL and is wrapped up with many SNL folks, it should be noted his 10 year run on TBS ends tomorrow. His final guests include several SNL alum, notably Dana Carvey, Martin Short, Sara Silverman, and Bill Hader.
  3. Check out Michael Dorman in For All Mankind, the alternate-history period piece wherein the USA did not win the space race. Dorman has one of the lead astronaut roles, and deserves an Emmy for his performance in ep 7.
  4. Vulture's best-sketches-of-46 picks, in no particular order . . .
  5. I'm trying to figure out with whom they link Luther. Obama with a Jordan Peele cameo or with a castmember, or Obama himself a la the press dinner? Biden? Harris with a Maya Rudolph return? And yet another head-scratcher bubble-gummer MG who appeals to a demographic NBC must be trying super-duper hard to attract.
  6. Me three. I like that she's outrageous but agree she could dial it back a bit. Her singing reminds me of Janis Joplin (I wonder if Miley has ever covered "Summertime.") I generally liked the show and thought Musk was OK. I liked that he said he had Asperger's. Was this in part to explain his odd bobbing and weaving? He made fun of himself and was contrite about the mask dealio. I liked the alibi joke and the Space-X Chad sketch. Kyle was in an abnormally high amount. I'm not a big fan, but good for him last night. Ooli rocked.
  7. I think a lot of geeks who haven't watched SNL in forever may be tuning in.
  8. WTF? Gee, I wish MY boss let me pick and choose with whom I worked.
  9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schmigadoon! A musical comedy feat. Cecily and Keegan-Michael Key premiering later this year. Cecily also has a book out in a few months. [source: she was on Andy Richter's podcast recently]
  10. Not too familiar with Kaluuya but it's nice to have an MG who can kick a little b.
  11. This is true, but the number of those who became selfish, self-indulgent-- who became "The Man"-- is gutwrenching. One of my closest friends (since kindergarten) I could barely talk to for awhile. I don't agree generally with the knock on Boomers, but I understand where it comes from. The one that got me started was the Hitler's Fart (or whatever) sauce. And then at some point he warned her about not rubbing her eyes . . . great stuff if you're a fan.
  12. I thought the Hot Ones sketch was one of the funniest of the year. I'm a huge fan, so I'm biased. FWIW, Kenan was on it recently, so it wasn't a total surprise when they did it. WU was fine, but the rest of the show was horrid, including the utterly lame MG. TBH, I stopped watching after the start of the Harris sketch and came here to see if any of the show was worth watching. I can understand some of the disenchantment with Boomers, but to tie that in to the vaccination protocols was disingenuous. And FFS, we are not the Greatest Generation and have never claimed to be-- that was our parents, who grew up in the Depression, won WWII and the Cold War, and put men on the moon.
  13. Larraine Newman on Marc Maron WTF Direct link to the mp3 . . . This was fascinating. She has a new book,"May You Live In Interesting Times" .
  14. Bowen Yang on Andy Richter's podcast, The Three Questions.
  15. Very nice. The consensus season rank was how I ranked them, too. Holden doesn't get near enough respect. 🙃
  16. A starship just landed in Texas!!
  17. Loved Regina. Loved Pelotaunt. Loved Weed Gummies. I have loved Kate McKinnon through the years and think she'll go down as one of the all-time greats. She is ruining Weekend Update. They let her drag whatever mugging carcass she wants out there, when they should get her off until she comes up with something truly good. It's like De Niro diluting his career with Fokker movies.
  18. I liked the season and really liked the last episode. It was a little of a surprise they did the space battle at the beginning but they had to do that to set up the rest of the show, which of course set up the next season. Some watchers bemoaned the season-long split of the Roci crew but that allowed for different characters and dynamics, e.g., the Amos/Timmy-Peaches/Clarissa dealio. Drummer proves to be the bad ass of the bridge-- "'Captain' now-- 'Camilla' later"-- but with much cost. I also liked near the end where Avasarala sings the multi-cultural praises of the Roci crew and Bobbie, now her "Laison," and how that was a diversion from the real ending which centered on the new MCRN (Mars Cut-throat Rogue Navy) hooking up with Marcos to divvy up space. Teh bad: I'd wager that Keon Alexander and Jasai Chase Owens attended the William Shatner School of Acting. I missed my Anderson Dawes prediction. Bobbie spent too much time couped up in the Razorback with Alex. I always thought I'd wait til the series was over to read the rest of the books, but with just one season left who knows.
  19. Wow, so many good observations and comments. This thread is almost as good as the episode. 1. Regarding the scene where TBS tells TLS that Bad Mom has abandoned them yet again, this may have been the low point of the entire series. It was an [expletive deleted] eye-roller for sure. 2. I thought this season would be centered more on the actual asteroid attacks with more military back-and-forth, but alas, noper. 3. With these 10-episode series that essentially drop once a year, I like to parse (savor?) the episodes up to the penultimate one. Then before the season finale I will then go back and binge-watch the whole season in anticipation of the finale. Anyone else do similarly?
  20. This. Anderson Dawes is done with stuttering English kings and Soviet nuclear power scientists, so why not swing back by and do Belter "activist"? I also wondered about strings between Dawes and TBS and even if so, whether the Belt is big enough for both of them.
  21. From another forum post from about a week ago . . . FINALLY some spillage. Plus they seemed to be sucking some of their food/drink out of some pouches. That was driving me crazy.

https://expanse.fandom.com/wiki/Seung_Un According to that the ship was severely damaged, the crew dumped the core and evacuated. Re-watching, the ship is merely damaged; I thought it had been obliterated. Drummer just says it was "blown to scrap." Hmmmmm. So Clarissa not quite as bad as I thought-- a murderer as opposed to a mass-murderer (and perhaps merely luckily so). Edit: Plus, as said in the Gaugamela thread, she kinda did help save the whole solar system back on the bridge of the Behemoth. Speaking of which, what's going on with the ole girl? Still minding the ring?

It wasn't just a guy, she blew up a whole ship and tried to pin it on Holden.
