If only he'd gotten Paul and Ringo Eric Idle to accept in his place . . .

Hopefully this implies a hosting gig rather than a mere cameo.

Any Navy types care to decipher this fairly detailed debate about space battles? E.g, the shows title, CQB, is an acronym for "close quarters battle"? This is one of my favorite episodes and the space naval battles are super-duper cool.

Unfortunately, not in the USA. Amazon has it. S1 is free on Prime but S2 is still pay-fer.

SNL Outside Projects: From Animal House to Wayne's World

Leslie in a Def Leppard wife-beater 4TW! -
Well, we saw Bill Hader last week-- I'd like to see him take another run at hosting. IIRC, his first stint was fairly lukewarm and it was one of the lowest-rated episodes ever (or just of that season?) I'm a huge fan of People of Earth and it would be cool to see Wyatt Cenac, Anna Gasteyer, or Nasim Pedrad host. For a huge longshot, I'd like to see Jermaine Fowler, formerly of Friends of the People and currently of Superior Donuts.

SNL Outside Projects: From Animal House to Wayne's World

Bobby Monihan and John Larroquette will star in Me, Myself, & I this fall on CBS. Along with teen Jack Dylan Grazer, they play the same character at different ages. It's nice to see Larroquette again. The last I saw of him was his small role in the shamefully-prematurely-cancelled HBO realpolitik comedy, The Brink. -
Wild, whacky stuff. The bell-ringer for me was I'mEric and the fidget spinner. Bonus points for drawing out the tongue business.

Spicey resigns! Maybe SNL will hire him to impersonate Melissa McCarthy!

Well this here well-educated, progressive Ozarkian is dagburned disappointed to see this is just another drug-syndicate drama, firstly, and secondly, that it stars Jason Bateman, one of the most horrid actors of his generation, whose "strength" seems to be picking horrid projects. FWIW, I don't know where Ang Lee filmed Ride with the Devil, a film backdropped against the Civil War skirmishes between eastern Kansans and western Missourians, but there were a lot of outdoor scenes portrayed accurately. Depending on where they go, Georgia may be too "mountain-y" for the Ozarks.

Octoroon googled, eyebrow raised. This show went from the CO with Team Trump people in their uber-duds surrounding a grand piano to a 40's fart gag. I laughed out loud when Vanessa rumped Johnson in a standing spoon and gut-farted against his nethers. Surprisingly, looking back, I did not see that coming. Some probably did, but it's still funny either way. It was well-written with few mistakes.

I thought he said since he has kids now he's staying until they fire him. That would be hideous. He's one of the reasons I stopped watching SNL in the late 90's.

@helenamonster Yes, ScarJo got her jacket during the monologue during a bit with Kate and Kenan (and the Royals went down to the Yankees 4-2).

I was curious and my granddaughter wasn't answering her phone so I googled. I don't think Vine even exists any more, TBH.

I don't care much for Katy Perry's type of music but loved the Swish Swish performance-- and I agree that was more performance art than a song but I don't care. Backpack kid = Russell Horning. Great stuff for a short performance on his part. He's been on Vine and Youtube. Oh yeah-- the comedy show part! Great episode from top to bottom, except the three exiting castmembers should have received a proper send-off. @ Helenamonster: I thought they did give Scarlett Johansson a 5-timer jacket, but I'm not totally sure. I still have it DVR'ed. I'll try to remember to check in between innings of KC Royals games [still sulking that Fox canceled Pitch].

What black females would be top prospects if Lorne goes that way? I'd just commented after last week that Sasheer seemed to be getting more airtime. Bobby and Vanessa have been great and they'll be missed. For a while I pulled for Bobby to be a WU host. I have a little minor-league crush on Vanessa. She has a lovely voice and a kind of sexy not-quite-normalcy.

Someone was in another forum commenting on The Orville, Fox's upcoming Seth McFarlane Star Trek spoof, and the person said, too bad that it was on Fox, that's where quality shows go to die. The it occurred to me to come here and check on Pitch . . .

I'm not a huge fan of the Cathy Anne segments, but this one was priceless. If Cecily ever gets a "Best of" (and she should) this one should be on it. She hit all the high points, then reeled it back in with the little shooting star bit, and then went on for more. When Haim was on four years ago, iirc I was slightly surprised, so I watched them instead of the usual FF-through-the-MG. OMG, that first song was the most horrid excuse for music I can ever remember on SNL. Two screechy measures with hack lyrics over and over and over. I'd bet $1000 they were not playing their instruments, $5000 that the so-called bassist wasn't. To their credit, the second song had a pretty nice little guitar run in it (assuming it was really being played live) Taylor Swift can keep them as her pets or whatever. Just-- blech. Otherwise a sort of uneven but good episode. The Spicer sketch wasted the on-the-road idea, the Echo Silver and Leslie-Kyle sketches were great (esp. the Lorne deadpan part) WU keeps rolling along. And is it just me, but is Zasheer finally seeing the light of Saturday Night?

Melissa taking the Spicemobile out for a spin in NY today! http://mashable.com/2017/05/12/melissa-mccarthy-as-sean-spicer-riding-podium-through-manhattan/?utm_cid=mash-com-fb-main-link#cIAoZrQcSkqW Ahh, they're pre-taping something.

I loved her in Married. She wasn't in the second season much, iirc. She probably pretty "poor" from doing the voice acting in all those blockbuster animated movies. She's got the perfect voice for it. I didn't care for the seashell stuff she did on Youtube, but that probably helped her land some of these big-budget jobs. (I assume actors get paid well for those movies but don't really know)

Yeah there's so much wrong with that article it's hard to know where to begin or if it's worth it. tl;dw (too long, didn't write-everything): Studio 60's show almost had to inflate its own importance, unless they wanted to do a spin-off with a show-within-a-show about public reaction to the show-within-Studio 60. Also, in that article, any references to the buzz and influence of the Fey/Poehler Sarah Palin sketches in '08 are noticeably absent. And then, the fact is SNL can help heal the nation, see the post 9-11 episode (Is it all right to be funny? Why start now?)

While some of you have been thinking about Amos and taking cold showers, I've been wondering about where they could take him. It'll be interesting as he constructs his own moral compass. For now he seems content to merely dip his toe into the pool of self-responsibility and self-actualization, and the mystery with him may be whether he decides to wade in slowly or jump in head first. The portomolecule will have its hands [glowing blue bubbles o' plasma?] full if it ever gets ahold of him.
