  1. I'm not sure Robbie Thompson had a Mary Sue problem so much as he had a definite Charlie problem. He certainly lost all boundaries with making the character the uber-wonderful geek-badass-self insert. I can't really remember other characters from him because it tended to be all Charlie, all the time. So I don't know how he would do with new characters. I do not think Jensen would appreciate John bring made into some butt of the joke. And with a focus being the romance, I reckon the John-character would have to be played as a viable romantic interest. Even if you have a strong, powerful female part, the man is usually kept competent and brave in that scenario or else the audience will not want to see them together. Personally I could go for a couple like Fringe's Peter and Olivia.
  2. I guess even if someone discovers the MOL per se, depending on the info you can still get the wrong (or right) picture od them. I remember this one episode where Dorothy? the hunter from Oz was in the bunker and kept needling the brothers about being pencil-pushers etc. And there they stood in all their plaid-ed glory, looking exactly like hunters and she appeared dumber by the second for not getting it.
  3. One thing I wouldn’t have minded would be going with Gumenick and Cohen for the roles as I liked them both. However since they are going for 19year olds now and a lot of time has passed already since they played the young versions, it is no longer feasible. And at this point a new cast will give the project more of its own identity. At best it should work as its own thing without having seen SPN. I know the point of spin-offs is to build on an existing base but IMO the more successful ones I can think of became their own thing. That's tricky because I wouldn't want Mary to resemble in any way shape or form the resurrected Mary of horrors.
  4. To me still better than the Badd era and his atrocious comics shining through. He got to ruin the entire mothership, this is just a prequel so even if I didn’t care for it, I could ignore it easier. And if I like it? Win-win because I had some SPN-content to watch as I cannot bring myself to watch any SPN ep after that ending. It's like Game of Thrones-level-scorched-Earth.
  5. I actually think it has potential. I wondered what they came up with and this sounds more meaty than I envisioned. I don't mind the retcons at all. After Badd's years where he basically trampled all over canon, noone can seriously bat an eye anymore at it. Not to mention how easy it is to angel-wipe their memories again at the end.
  6. Network TV certainly lost a lot of viewers in the last few years, though older demos are still kinda faithful to it. On the other hand the most watched streamed show on Netflix 2021 was Criminal Minds, no streaming original but an older network show.
  7. The CW can't do much more at this point. They haven't even gone on their usual mass renewal spree this year since the uncertainty of the sale looms over them. Likely the respective studios also look at what could potentially go on their content-starved streamers.
  8. I don’t. The show made a point to establish that young Dean wasn't the trite "teenage angst and rebellion" kid, that that was im comparism Sam, so it's not an excuse for the woefully bad writing. Now woefully bad writing for Dean is nothing new but one of Jensen's strong suits has been to soften it somewhat and play it more nuanced. That is exactly what Brock Kelly couldn't do here. He could do some mimicry well but failed at the most important parts. With a much stronger script, maybe he could have been better but alas.
  9. It really depends, if Nextstar mainly wants cheap programming, that probably means an Influx of game shows and reality TV. Superman & Lois ain't exactly cheap but that one I could see HBO Max keeping.
  10. He has told this story many many times in the past before. And why does nothing else from the Rosey Podcast make the rounds? Other actors share way more juicy stuff. Why did they pick it up now? Those tabloids must be desperate for content.
  11. SPN seems to do well on streaming. A content-starved streamer like HBO Max might be interested in an adjacent project, even if limited run. But I do believe the possible sale will mean the end of some CW shows. And the "in development" projects mostly won't make it. IMO it was stupid to cut the Netflix deal short so soon, to hoard programming for their own new streaming services that international audiences can't see at all. And by the time they can launch there, those projects/Seasons will be super-old news and no longer a draw.
  12. The most likely deal right now seems to be for a broadcaster to buy the CW and depend on both Warner and Viacom to provide content. Still means tighter budgets and most shoes already are on shoestring budgets. Also at least some shows should be probably be worried. Both HBO Max and Paramount + also desperately need content and some actual subscriber range. They made zero headway Internationally so far. We'll see how it shakes out. I still remember way back when as the CW news was announced and the WB was kaput. Came out of nowhere.
  13. Considering if it gets picked up, both shows will likely shoot concurrently, it would be completely unfeasible to have one actor in both. No sane company, network or actor would even go for it. Maybe a cameo or something.
  14. As a director Jensen has to interact with all departments. In capacities where actors, including Jared, won't be around. And people can be sensationalist. Now maybe Jared would address crew and cast in his position as a producer beforehand as a courtesy to curtail any shenanigans. I worry about cons, too, but also about working on a set that also probably deals with firearms and all that for the episode. Just hoping Jensen doesn't push himself too much too soon.
  15. I hope the people on the Walker set won't hound him for info about Rust or anything like that.
  16. I think if you asked a 1000 people who heard about this entire thing, maybe 2 could even remember Jensen's name. Even if they saw the clip on CNN. As for Walker, this might look painfully unfunny now but it's nowhere near high profile enough to land on anyone's radar. Both Jensen and Jared aren't household names in either the entertainment buisness overall or for the general public. That's why I believe this will fade for Jensen.
  17. But that's the thing. It's just an Internet forum so if the one place he can't move on from being connected to this tragedy is here, it won't matter. And I think it truly won't interfere with him, other than obviously emotionally. Where I wish him all the best and all the support he needs to recover. Which is why I wish he wouldn't do cons now so soon. He gets hatred from the vultures on a good day after cons, as if they would show any class or empathy now.
  18. Every other actor who was present or majorly on set would be a witness as well and be called for testimony. Noone can "escape" that and if it is not doom and gloom for everyone else, why would it be for him? I don’t get this singling him out constantly for the apparent negative things that all await him.
  19. One of the biggest repercussions I see for Jensen personally is whatever show his own production company might ever make, (gun) safety will be super huge.
  20. From what I've seen I highly doubt Jensen sticks out in anyone's memory in regards to this story. Even the sensationalist headlines and reports 2 or 3? days ago are one and done. The only place I've seen him being discussed in depth (apart from maybe gleeful haters on social media who want to wish his misfortunate into existance) is here. Every other coverage moved on to bigger news when it comes to this.
  21. None of these "media" outlets have a lick of integrity. Not in many, many years.
  22. While that is true in the last few years fans have developed a sense of ownership and entitlement that is way over the top. If an actor doesn't say exactly what they want them to say or perform exactly how they want at cons, time to pull out the death threats. In the manner of "I pay you, you do as I say". People should learn that they pay to see them in real life, pay for autographs and standing next to them in a picture. There is no pay option for "validate me in exactly the way I want". How do those people get through life? Life doesn't coddle and validate you.
  23. The tell always works more on people because they often take what is harped on enough at face value. That's why lots of writers never even bother with showing a character has certain qualities but only repeat it in text or have other characters give either fawning or disparaging speeches. The only thing you can't sell about a character like this is them being "cool". Supposedly smart, competent, good, evil, saintly, whatever, it all works. But sonehow coolness can't be sold via text but only viscerally to the audience. Sam got enough ego stroking as a leader, they could have shown him randomely gettiing 20 people killed through incompetence in every single episode and most of the audience would have still gone with the tell. Especially on a CW show where the writing quality has taken shocking nosedives in the last 5 or so years. I know they were always kind of belittled as a network but seriously the shows weren't as badly written as they are now. SPN fit right in, they even kind of pioneered this trend in terms of established shows.
  24. Maybe current Jared stuff gets posted in the Walker forum? I have no idea, haven't checked it. But show-stuff, either praise or criticism would surely be there mainly. Can't say either way, the only place I get any news on (loosely) SPN-related things is by checking here. I'm way into a different fandom now for anything more.
  25. His facial bone structure looks slightly out of whack in the pic. Neither weight loss nor tiredness would account for that so IMO it is the angle of the pic.
