  1. That adage "the sum > parts" has never been as fitting: the stretch from the Incarceration at Tanganyika to the Subterfuge in the Spanish East Indies was doomed to lose its momentum once the Cousins from Hayastan were robbed of a well-deserved F6 NEL, yet even after the Matronly Bowlers' martyrdom, the Baby Boomers were there to pick up the pieces and assemble them into triumph against fellow rival Lone Staters.
  2. Ah, this season basically jinxed all future Europe-overload, cold-weather routes/courses into the void of "no-fun". At least both F/F teams made it to Asia, yet those India legs were so harrowing as to feel more like endgame episodes, and vice versa for the anticlimactic penultimate destination of Australia that probably should've preceded Borneo and Korea.
  3. Acting legend Michael Madsen and those blonde American twin starlets on the celebrity edition segued seamlessly into a civilian's awakening as the reincarnation of warrior queen Jhansi Rani * as she rallied her forces against a granfalloon # of Dickensian chavs, the perfect two-step antidote to the program(me)'s half-decade of decay. * An ally of the Sepoy Mutiny - holy symbolism, Lakshmi-"bae"! # Both as Vonnegut intended it as well as in the sense of Castlevania, Symphony of the Night.
  4. Rumour's got it that VH1 icon Tiffany Pollard a.k.a. "New York" * will be spending the first third of her threefold 2016-RTV appearance # across the pond: * For the uninitiated, this gal's the biggest thing to happen to Upstate since *insert-Bills-reference* and much to the chagrin of NYCers as someone unable to be claimed as one of their own. # The others being a show tentatively titled "15 Minutes" and "Family Therapy (by/with Dr. Jen)".
  5. Anyone else secretly enjoy the fact that Tunisia is now the only country from Classic yet to be revisited?
  6. Dark humour aside - especially the payoff to the otherwise tedious season-long cuckolding storyline - the brisk pace of the route's first half comes at the price of an anticlimactic, culturally-familiar Oceania overload in the endgame (c.f. the language/HDI barriers in Asia during Classic and Season 3).
  7. It ultimately amounted to nothing since there were no NEL penalties back then.
  8. Incorrect, the lettering was Georgian since the footage came from a Tbilisi-based news station.
  9. Quite a timely coincidence: she's several months pregnant, two TAR losses and all.
  10. Eh, perhaps she suffers in comparison to the Duphiney brothers and the Pollack spouses, though Pesenti arguably shows more redeemable qualities than the more genuinely mean-spirited finalists from the two seasons flanking hers (except perhaps Jon & Kelly in an "ironic appeal" sense).
  11. This gem was the first true light-hearted season, no? Like, the Twelfth Night to Classic's Richard III and 2's Romeo and Juliet?
  12. So true: who needs mactors when the hoi polloi can do it better?
  13. You're welcome, though it'll be a while 'til she gets dry. ^_^
  14. It's hard to believe, but the one that you just skipped: Season 2. ;)
  15. Eh, Shola & Doyin, Mary & Peach, and Chris & Alex are no slouches in that department.
  16. Um, even Unfinished Business, which some informally count as the second of three All-Star editions? (Let's see whether Tyler Oakley's effect on this season will become the analogue of Frankie Grande's on BB16.)
  17. The goddamned Sideshow will be back along with the same three incompetent hosts - like, shouldn't two of Sarah H, Godfrey, Brittnee, and/or Sindy have replaced what should've been Jon's/Neda's/Heather's/Adel's spots?
  18. Michael "Papa Jumba" Wu and Meghan "Strawburry17" Camarena, no?
  19. That season later featured an overnight ferry from the Norwegian wilderness to the country's third largest city before flying on to the Polish Baltic coast, albeit during a TBC. The same form of transport with similar staggered times also occurred during Seasons 21 (Barcelona to Mallorca) and 25 (Aberdeen to Shetland).
  20. Come to think of it, there was no two-week interruption for "The Hollywood Awards" as Season 25 might have led Friday-viewers to believe. (May March Madness wreak havoc upon the schedule of another gimmick!)
  21. Without sounding Teutonophobic, this will be the first autumn-filmed, spring-broadcasted season to visit zero German-speaking areas/regions since the first All-Stars nine years and seventeen seasons ago.
  22. This season's NEL/TBC sequence is one away from being a replica of 18/UB (just like 23 copied 16): otherwise, it's 11-7-6 with the second one occurring in the middle of the two Caucasus nations. If the new SB template continues in the style of TAR: Norway - incidentally Tanner's ancestral homeland - then perhaps the saved budget went into funding the first half of this route/course.
  23. Among the more recent seasons, competitive/exciting final legs include 15, 21, and 25.
  24. Nope, you're correct - it'll be just like Big Brother premieres when all the contestants each find a key to the BB House delivered to their own home.
  25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvDcEXq1zSc At ~ 0:41, Marty tells Hagan, "I'm so proud of you" inside a cab with a tropical setting outside the window: this location would be the Totumo Volcano by the Northern Colombian coast just outside Cartagena rather than the Central Mexican interior, i.e. it'll be the first premiere (F11) NEL in nine seasons and only the fourth of its kind. At ~ 0:32, Cole has just performed a mud-bathing RB In the same location.
