I agree in principle, but in her (and Rebecca's) defence, that RB involved a rare "enforced HoO", i.e. an actual closing time, like the synchronized Russian swimming Detour fifteen seasons later on the very same leg that the KeyBlock makes an unofficial Switchback.

Gosh, a finale wiith them, Mary & Peach, and any of the other eliminees besides Hope & Norm would've improved this season.

Yea, as it was airing, several TwoPers noted how the teams themselves seemed to be having anything but fun, e.g. the entire F5 in the Kolkata leg. What distinguishes its morbidity from Season 4's is a higher proportion of rootable teams in the endgame in an non-ironic sense (JoKe love aside).

Perhaps it was World Race Production's safeguard against the "cult of personality" that some hosts tend to amass. (Ahem.)
