  1. It's because everything is about this group. Holy moly. Would anyone want a crowd, even if they're close, present at a medical appointment that could bring bad news? I'd just share afterward.
  2. The segment on being child-free couldn't have resonated so much or maybe even happened if there weren't a woman in the chair, so that has been a good thing about having this transitional phase of rotating hosts. That being said, I could do without the mentions of drugs. It's really not interesting and just seems like trying too hard.
  3. OK, I think we all know that baby's going to be named Jon.
  4. I'm hoping that Jessica Williams guest hosts sometime. She was my pick to replace Jon, but Trevor did turn out to be a fantastic host. I'd still like to see the what-if.
  5. I think it's going to be fun to have different hosts for a while, like 2 years ago on Jeopardy! Most of those guest hosts weren't really auditioning but probably were there because they were fans of the show and wanted to have the experience of being on the other side of the desk, and they clearly seemed to enjoy it. (My favorite was Robin Roberts, but I knew she wasn't going to give up her ABC gig.)
  6. To be honest, I think I preferred the early-'80s TV movie Stand By Your Man, which was probably made to cash in on the success of Coal Miner's Daughter. It's not exactly the same because it's about Tammy's life and career to that point, including her marriage to George but also about her previous marriages and how she got started, but of course it doesn't show the terrible decline. Annette O'Toole did her own singing, too, and she did a great job with it.
  7. I did rewatch for the part about Pocahontas and was amused that he didn't believe the family lore about it, since it seems so common for people to believe the untrue stories passed down in their families. I don't consider the current-day people to be liars, though. A lot of the guests on genealogy shows seem to know little beyond their grandparents, and genealogy isn't easy and can be time consuming.
  8. I kept dozing off during the show--nothing against it; I'm adapting to getting up early for work again--but I don't recall seeing anything about Edward Norton being a direct descendant of John Rolfe and Pocahontas, which Dr. Gates tweeted about earlier yesterday. Now that he's had two of Brad Pitt's costars on, time to get him as a guest if he agrees. I've seen a tree online that shows we have a common ancestor (my great x 7 grandfather, so not a close one), and he's been on my wish list.
  9. Portia did say to Albie at the airport that Tanya wasn't answering her phone, but yes, it's weird that she wouldn't try to get hold of her somehow before getting to the airport. Couldn't she have called the hotel itself? But I also disliked that Tanya took off on the boat without Portia.
  10. I wouldn't have minded if any of the teams from the whole season won (though I think a couple of people eliminated fairly early might have grated over time if their stays were longer), but the quick recap of the season at the beginning of the finale made me feel glad for Claire that the ordeal of that tightrope walk in Ronda paid off. I have terrible fear of heights, too, so no way could I have ever done that. Now she should feel like she could do anything with that under her belt.
  11. Alessio could even be Lucia's brother. There's a reason we didn't get a translation of their exchange.
  12. After reading talk online about Portia's unattractive wardrobe, I had to laugh when Tanya double-checked whether she had cute things to take to Palermo: "Are you sure?"
  13. In the early days of the pandemic, my home computer had a picture of an ancient bridge or aqueduct on the login screen. I couldn't figure out where it was, and it cycled out and never reappeared. Now I know. Thanks, Amazing Race.
  14. Totally in agreement. I thought that, at least in her first season, Olivia Colman's queen seemed much colder than Claire Foy's. Not a comment on OC, of course, but the writing. That was when there were the episodes about her reluctance to go to Aberfan and her treatment of Charles around the time of his investiture as Prince of Wales.
  15. I know this was shot well before September, but I admire that the show went with an episode so critical of the Queen. Takes some nerve to think that that huge yacht was a benefit to the country and not the royals personally.
  16. All this Wendy angst about losing her children--it seems like the writers forgot that she was considering having Jonah arrested to prevent his causing problems with their work. There was even a moment when it seemed to me that she was willing to have him killed, or am I imagining that?
  17. I'm trying to remember what happened last time someone was interested in getting Vi's pies into supermarkets. A little directing slip-up: that guy only had about one bite and then left practically a whole slice. Well, he can still have all the ones he took with him.
  18. A place to discuss new host possibilities, suggestions for changes to the show, etc. I'll start off by saying--in what may be an unpopular opinion--that I preferred when the show was only a half-hour long. They still managed to get enough in.
  19. Was I the only person appreciating that photo of younger Linton?
  20. People using Micah because his father is famous is such a good storyline that I'm surprised that it hasn't already happened.
  21. I hate talk about crypto and NFTs and hope that the NFT storyline results in Micah getting scammed, not because I dislike him (he's a good kid) but to serve as a warning to viewers of the show.
  22. I'm pretty sure that the Atlantic City episode was different, too. I need to go back and watch that one again, because it was pretty darn good.
  23. It's the best vampire movie, too. I also really like Sofia Coppola's films, so I'd love to see what she would do with one. I was coveting that pink coat.
  24. I guess I'm talking to myself, but in case anyone else is reading: No fallout at all in this episode about the break-in at the funeral home in the prior episode? Even if Cade and Ruth didn't find anything, realistically the Byrdes should have been alarmed and maybe would have developed some theories about the culprits.
  25. So many good lines, especially after the big twist, but I especially had to laugh at the one about Go Flip Yourself only being watched in airports and hospital waiting rooms because I've only ever seen Property Brothers while I was in a hosptial waiting room.
