  1. It's the ottoman Dick van Dyke stumbled over, much like our boy did on this question!
  2. You may encounter a paywall, but there's an article about this show in today's NYTimes https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/06/magazine/young-rock-president.html
  3. wonder if the bad ratings are a knock-on effect from the streaming service? People can watch whatever on demand, so the network airings are less compelling
  4. Ha, my first non-Monkees album was Led Zeppelin II when my dad got a Columbia House membership. He let us each pick an album for ourselves. IIRC, though, I had Rumours on cassette :) and played the crap out of it. FJ was an Instaget for me; 1977 is right in my music wheelhouse
  5. so now we've gotten Regular Size Rudy, what about Pocket Size Rudy? Is he just so short that he's below the sight line of other characters?
  6. I just started a rewatch of Mad Men and finally realized who Paige reminds me of--Kiernan Shipka.
  7. What is Tammy's Happily Ever After? Her business? Not that there's anything wrong with that
  8. Also re: Mary's hair. I have straight hair. in the 80s, I had a Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction perm. I'm betting Mary will have something like that
  9. I'm reminded of Frasier. In Cheers, Frasier said his father was dead. They did do some retconning to make that work but of course the timeline here makes that difficult
  10. Ha. I'm old. When I think Hot Priest in a TV show, I think Richard Chamberlain in Thorn Birds
  11. Reminds me of Cat's in the Cradle, where it was the father who didn't have time for his son, and then when Dad wanted more of a relationship, the son wasn't interested. Maybe Kemi distanced herself first and the daughter is reacting to that.
  12. I had a colonoscopy a few years ago, just maintenance :) Fortunately for me, my doctor said to prep by taking some Miralax pills and then drink a crapton of Gatorade with Metamucil dissolved in it. It was very easy to do, except at the end when you are basically sloshing from all the liquid, and of course going to the bathroom a LOT. At the end, though, you get the best nap you ever had.
  13. I feel like they are laying the groundwork for some big issues between George and Mary. Both of them seemed unhappy at a profound level.
  14. In theoretical Roseanneland, the Conners would have been poor enough for Becky to have gotten a lot of financial aid. Am I forgetting some reason that wasn't an option? In the 80s, tuition wasn't as insane as it is now, and you could go to school on financial aid and a part time job.
  15. AKA the Under-Achieva, LOL FJ was a total instaget, considering where I live and what I do for a living :), and so far so good with Anderson Cooper. The pauses are a bit annoying and he seems to feel obliged to add some info to every answer, but otherwise I think he's doing a decent job.
  16. It there is a third season, I'd like a little more diversity in the contestant pool, meaning some chefs that we don't see frequently on FN. And especially no Christian Jabroni Hamboni, please.
  17. I missed that line...although of course that is totally off the table now, plus there are three casinos in actual Detroit and one in Windsor ON
  18. There was a recent story on The Driveof someone who towed a brand new Jeep at highway speed, while 4WD was engaged. Baked the engine. Even a new vehicle can't deal with that, and it sounds like the process to engage 4WD on this old Jeep is different than what you would do now.
  19. I visited West Berlin a couple of times when I lived in West (!) Germany and the Olympic Stadium was in West Berlin. Not sure about other venues though. I did get Germany quickly for FJ as I do remember being broken hearted about the Munich Olympics for a couple of reasons: one being the obvious, but the second was that we had only been back in the States for two months when those Olympics happened. The coverage made us miss Germany desperately.
  20. When has futuristic fashion ever looked realistic? So far, we're not all wearing jumpsuits or shirts with pointy shoulders 🙂
  21. Someone on the writing staff must looove Dee-lite! Not objecting, I like that song myself.
  22. I'm actually sad she lost because it seemed to me that Darnell was not doing anything at all that was really Greek. Tiffani did do a couple of things that made sense for Greek food--a tomato sauce, the spinach puree, a Greek salad (should have put some olives and feta in that, just sayin'), whereas Darnell decided to do what he wanted and call it Greek. It's what killed Marc Murphy and I don't understand why it wasn't really held against Darnell. I did worry that Maneet would get penalized for doing a more Eastern European dish when the rules were quite specific that it should be Western European. Austria kind of straddles the line, I guess, but the borscht...no. But I am very glad she won.
  23. It's supposed to be Ein Biergarten. LOL, I majored in German so it struck me as nicht so gut as well 🙂
  24. Too much Crazy Bonnie. My husband is getting to the point of leaving the room rather than watching this show. For me, I feel I have to see it to the end, and I still like everyone else, especially Tammy.
