  1. OG Uhura was such a strong, iconic image that became part of our culture: A beautiful black women in a red minidress on the bridge of a starship.
  2. I actually felt sorry for Ed. Which is worse: Suffocating and bleeding out while burried under ground or having to listen to Danny's whining? I give Ed credit for surviving both.
  3. Six dead so far! Out of hpw many? Space (or Mars) is dangerous and trying to kill us!
  4. Dev makes a decision without the performance of a vote! With a thirty minute time delay getting messages to Mars how useful are instructions?
  5. It just occurred to me that although Danny is objectively more financially successful than Johnny due to his car dealership, Johnny, like Miyagi when he was first introduced in the original KK, is a maintenance / handyperson. I think that’s a nice, subtle touch.
  6. RIP David Warner: https://gizmodo.com/rip-david-warner-star-trek-tron-twin-peaks-the-omen-1849326425
  7. Does the Defence Production Act apply to American Companies which happen to be on Mars? Asking for a friend
  8. What does President Ellen think she can accomplish by seeing Pam? Pam is living her own life and is not going to have an affair with the POTUS becuase Pam is not stupid. Ellen is an example of what happens with absolute power corrupting. See also: Margo.
  9. So excited for season 4 already! The further in time we go, the more the FAM verse veres away from are own timeline. Will the "War on Terror" not happen because the Cold War never ended? Will 9/11 not happen? I have questions!
  10. Eleanor was also 5'10" and Gillian is...shorter than that. And much slimmer. IIRC Gillian may have worn some sort of padding when she portrayed Mageratert Thatcher in "The Crown" (I still can't decide whether that performance was great or horrible) but here she wore looser clothes, which was the style at the time anyway.
  11. I sorta kinda felt sorry for Margo. Sergei may be the only man she ever loved. Danny is officially the Worst Person in Space (or not on Earth) since Inaro Marcos. Isn't anybody keeping track of the drug supply? Dude with the Robot Dog (He should have ben called Muffit) seems to be the most competent person on the Helios Crew.
  12. I recently caught the last half of "A Taste of Armageddon" an CTV-SciFi. Kirks violation of the Prime DIrective is pretty bad, but I have always loved the "I will not kill today." Speech: “We're human beings with the blood of a million savage years on our hands, but we can stop it! We can admit that we're killers, but we're not going to kill today. That's all it takes… knowing that we're not going to kill today.”
  13. My math was off! Thanks for the clarifacation.
  14. It wasn't specified wheather the kid was biological or adopted. Given Ellen's age (40 at the start of Season Two, IIRC) I'm assumeing the later. Poor kid, but it looks like he is genuinely loved as opposed to being adopted to present a image of hetro normality. That would be cynical even for those two.
  15. So where did the vodka come from if the Russians had to abandon thier ship? And do the Russians have thier own HAB somewhere or was thier original landing site on the other side of Mars?
  16. There seemed to be a LOT of sweat and condensation in the HAB. Surely there must be a way to gather and use that moisture. I have a heat pump that collects a lot of moisture, Maybe the HAB's heat pump is part of their "Thermal Controls?"
  17. In "Ethics", Worf enlists Riker to help in end his life, but Riker talks him out of it. So the Klingons allow it, which isn't surpriseing.
  18. My conclusion as well. I'm also thinking of the person on Discovery who ended up getting Robocopped. I understand this is a sensitive topic which is difficult to discuss in depth without coming across as ableist. There is fanfic somewhere wherein a post-accident Pike goes back to work with a Betazoid intrerpretor reading his mind and saying his thoughts out loud.
  19. My favourite Trek series returns!
  20. That was reminceint of McCoy's attitude towards Spock.Other than that, I for one liked Pulaski. She was fun, an extremly capable doctor, and a little snarky. Her flirting with Worf was odd but delighfull. I did love how in "Samaritan Snare" she came chargeing to Picard's rescue, and Picard recation was annoyance.
  21. Another reason I keep comparing FAM to The Expanse is that it demonstrates that putting women in charge will not necessarily result in a Feminest Utopia, whatever that could look like.
  22. Great episode. 👍 I loved the humour of the final shot. Danny needs to go he is dragging down the show with his Karen Creepiness. I still can't get over how luxurious Phoenix is. Maybe Ed can give the other crew a ride home? 🤔 Poor Sergei. That is all. Kelly is turning out to be a bit of a Mary Sue.
  23. I predict Ed will find out about Danny and Karen at the worst possible moment.
  24. A medicore episode, but I always liked the way Picard said "You are free to fraternize with the crew". Picard treats his crew like adults who can make their own decisions. I can see a remake of "The Perfect Mate" where the Metamorph can change gender according to whom they are near. IIRC, this was in an earlier draft of that episode.
