I'd pick the Hathaways, which I find the stronger series. The last book totally caught me by surprises. Never had I expected the precocious kid to get a love story that would pull me in as much as that did. I really loved Devil in Winter and will be the first to admit it portraits the hero's previous actions as something not too difficult to overcome. I say this because I quit the first two books pretty early on and never got to that part, and wouldn't have guessed the magnitude based on Devil in Winter slome without reading online comments that I did later on.

But it's unsurprising after Marina found it odd to marry her dead guy's lover. It really wasn't.

I'm not really sure what happens in this and what in the next episode regarding this plot, so I'd suggest watching episode 7 for any clarification.

The Queen's servant was keeping track of all their suspects during the wedding and came to the Queen with 'good news' at the end of the episode, meaning one suspect was caught. Eloise was the only one from the list, which also included Pen and Cressida Cowper, to slip out during it.

Can you imagine a family dinner with Colin 'This one time in Greece', Eloise 'My inner life is so much more meaningful than yours' and Edwina 'I am finding myself'? I can just see Hyacinth demanding that her and Gregory be sent to the nursery but the adults are like no, if we suffer, you suffer. Also, I just realized poor Hyacinth didn't get to play Pall Mall after asking for it at the end of last season. Le gasp. Hopefully she opted out herself because playing with Newton seemed more entertaining.

I think it's always the eldest unmarried daughter who's Miss Last Name. So with Kate marrying Anthony Edwina gets promoted to Miss Sharma.

Sophie is Benedict's love interest and Posy one of her step-sisters. Or half-sisters? What I've read about the book wasn't incentive to read it so I don't know about the dowries.

It really is a shame photographs didn't exist then so Kate can't make fun of him for this. Although the family paintings are incredibly realistic so she'd have some Material.

It's any Kate and Anthony scene if I'm being honest, really. But just because I thought of it first now the hunt scene in which they bicker who is (more) into whom. But if we're talking outside of them as a couple: - Anthony's scene with Gregory - Mary totally being there for Kate and not judging when she could have - the families with Lady D as an honorary member dancing and we've never seen them happier - Violet and Lady Danburry losing their shit at the failed wedding - Penelope losing her shit when Colin takes her hand (I'm not a fan of them on the show, but that was hilarious) Completely this vibe: - Benedict 'accepting (the academy's) acceptance of him'
-
Both Hyacinth and Francesca were there for Colin's return from Greece to interrupt Penelope from staring at him like a lovelorn puppy.

They Had Condoms Back Then? The Questions and Answers Thread
bijoux replied to Door County Cherry's topic in Bridgerton
Francesca was visiting an aunt in Bath on the first season, they said so on the show, it was either episode 7 or 8 od the first season. -
Baron, as lowest on the peerage totem pole, would make sense for the Featheringtons.
-
Mary came to the defense of her daughters, plural, saying how she was glad that her parents cast her out because she could raise her children not to focus merely on titles and money. That's when the shoe about the dowry dropped. But it's true, she was a prickly snide witch the entire time.
-
The Featheringtons are definitely titled in the show version but they have been worse off financially since they were introduced in S1.

Yes, and when Anthony refers to that Violet asks if he's going to rely on his brothers to bail him out. So it obviously was very much seen as part of his duties.

I'm still rewatching. And I find something new every time. Like, I love to see how these families are healing from old traumas, mothers recognizing how their actions when facing a loss affected their children. I can't really blame either Mary or Violet but neither can I ignores how their kids were impacted. I'm not talking only about Kate and Anthony who obviously got the most attention im this regard. The weird dynamics of sibling/parent impacted their younger siblings as well, right down to Gregory. It feels like people recognizing their mistakes really opens them all to moving forward.
-
I think Kate was a virgin simply because she dedicated herself to raising Edwina and thus repaying Mary for her love and sacrifice since the age of 18 onwards. It's not a matter of anything but practicality. But then again, I'm pretty simple so I heard How Deep Is Your Love playing during the sex scene and never doubted that Kate and Anthony sealed the deal.

Just here to add this great reaction to the Napoleon mention.

So the Harmony ball was set to take place on July 27th. And now I'm shook. I thought it was June. Anthony wasn't kidding when he said he and Kate were denying themselves for months. When was Lady Danburry's ball, does anyone remember? Late March, early April? I love that they expanded the timeline, it's usually much shorter than that in romances constructed like this one.
-
George died in the Napoleonic Wars, didn't he? I think that's the biggest mention in either the books or the show so far. There may have been some small references like Anthony telling Violet that one of her recommendations thought Napoleon was fighting for Spain and does she really not expect more from the mother of her prospective grandchildren. To with Ruth Gemmell responded with one of her awesome blinks. Well, shit.

Netflix went and got Alanis Morisette to record her song accompanied by orchestra to produce a Kate/Anthony fanvid. Just shoot me.

Phillipa is the married sister. Prudence is the one Portia set up with the new lord Featherington. So yes, the plan was for Prudence to save the family.

Kate Sharma, biggest secret romantic out there, to her sister on the eve of her wedding, 'True love is something else entirely. It is when the rest of the world goes quiet. It is not eyes that meet, but souls that dance. Settle into each other. Make room for each other, until there is nowhere else to hide.' Cue Anthony imagining himself and Kate at the altar, everything and everyone else disappearing. I think they may have been too subtle there.
-
Well, she can actually. It wasn't really unheard of. Spinsters most often would live with their married siblings and take care of their children. Eloise, the natural caretaker that she is, is an obvious choice for that. You lost little Judy in the park?! -Oh, I cannot tell her and the other one apart. -The other one is a boy!
-
It's also possible that show Francesca is younger. In the books there's a bigger age gap between Daphne and Eloise, and on the show they're just a year apart.
