I was apparently so bored at this ponit of the episode because I've basically missed everything aside from the part that one of the women in the menage was Mrs. Grenville. I had no idea that Benedict saw Grenville with his lover or that Delacrois was the third party in the menage.

Eloise is still not out in society at this point, so 16 going on 17 is right or roughly right. I love how Daphne is so unremarkable that you rechristened her. LOL
-
The leering alone I interpreted as a reaction to Marina's attractiveness. However, paired with the later lack of surprise I read it as part of her attraction being her quote unquote experience.

I find it hard to believe that Anthony wouldn't have artanged for a separate household for Colin if Colin was too young to access the funds left to him by their father. Anthony could and at times was a major prick, but I don't think he wouldn't help his brother. One, I feel certain Phillip does know about Marina's pregnancy. He proposed to her because George had compromised her. He clearly learned that from her letters which would also include information about her pregnancy. Two, which I find more interesting, is that there was a thread of it's damned awful to keep women clueless about their bodies and sexualities. There's Marina finding herself in a desperate situation, Daphne having no clue whatsoever for days or weeks after her wedding, Eloise wanting desperately to find out in order to protect herself and Penelope, Phillipa forgetting that Marina's child wasn't Colin's. Yes, half of these were played for laughs and I certainly laughed along, but when you lay it all out together, it's damn tragic and consequences vary greatly. And I think this was intentional and applaud it.

Gasp! But it just wasn't done, skipping one daughter to present another to society. That why Kate amd Edwina debut simultaneously since they can't afford to do it twice. Just finished re-reading The Viscount and they better not mess with Mary. Her relationship with Kate was such a refreshing step away from the evil stepmother trope. I think at this point Eloise doesn't know what she wants. She's trashing about like a fish on dry land in her frustration to get something else than what society is telling her is her only option. I don't really believe she has any clue what precisely that something else is. I love the bolded part and hold out hope for some other characters as well. There is still the heartbreaking option of not understood and untreated post partum. I honestly hope it won't be suicide, but I doubt Marina will be alive when and if Eloise's story comes along. I know you weren't asking me and I have no clue to offer, but I assumed the same thing as well. I think Mr. Featherington was part of it. There were his uncomfortable, leering looks in episode 1 I believe, and his complete lack of reaction to the news of her pregnancy.

I don't think there is such a character in the books. Mr. Featherington was dead before the book series started as I recall and there was no one mentioned in such capacity. I think this is a show development. They may introduce a new character or repurpose an existing one.

One thing I'm hoping for is that this mess pushes Penelope towards being a Lady Whistledown more similar to the books. Insightful, funny and scathing but not malicious. What do you mean about the dukedom? The fact that the previous Duke of Hastings was obsessed with it? That's very much true in the book as well as far as I recall, and certainly a regular feature in literature. She syphoned it as an inheritance from a deceased aunt with the help of the family solicitor who helped her set up the Lady Whistledown operation in the first place.

I don't think Simon was using the pull put method with everyone else but actual birth control available at the time.

She reminded me of the latest adaptation Jo as well. One of her outbursts was very similar to Jo's speech about women having minds and not just hearts. https://images.app.goo.gl/WKrtjbpCcE5R2aMt7

Marina thought she wasn't pregnant anymore when she turned down Phillip. She thought her abortion attempt had worked and had no pressing to get married.

Except for Violet, the matriarch, everyone whose names begin with letter from A through H is more likely than not a Bridgerton. The women woth P names (Portia, Penelope, Phillipa, Prudence) are the Featheringtons.

Isn't Francesca's story removed from the ton as well? I can't tell because I haven't actually read it but for some reason I always thought so. Don't all these stories happen somewhat simultaneously or in close succession? At least two of the three if not all could be compressed into a single season.
-
I don't have a copy of The Viscount Who Loved Me to check, but I think you're right about that book holding up a season more easily. As for down the road, they'd probably do well to include two books' plots into one season. I certainly hope they get a good Kate for next season.

I spend nearly the entire season learning to tell Anthony, Benedict and Colin apart and then they cast Phillip as a long lost Bridgerton? You're killing me, show. I think they blew their load prematurely with unmasking Whistledown so soon. One of the small things I liked was the scene about marriage in the beginning, showing different sides and aches of it. And the small focus the king and queen got was really heart breaking. I really hope they get a grip on Anthony for the next season. Like, I couldn't believe how chill he was when he learned that Benedict introduced Eloise to his mistress. What? I'm sorry, WHAT??? And that inanity about bringing Sienna to the ball. Christ above. Sienna, I wish you many happy trails far, far off screen. Dude, Featheringtons are fuuuu... Well, at least that Whistledown money should tie them over if Penelope finds a way to actually use it. I doubt Mr. Finch is that well heeled and certainly hope he and Phillipa will marry regardless of her dowry. Have I lost it at some point? Hee. I hope Will and his family will be fine and not targeted by the bookies.

I'd have applauded Daphne if she smashed him over the head with one of the family portraits. This is beyond the pale. This is not to say Simon is blameless. As one poster aptly stated, they both win in the game of who's the bigger asshole.

Colin, why do you insist on being this dull? He's not a bad egg, but he's basically an egg white omelette. Pale and shapeless. Eloise has been visited by the dreaded parted short bangs! Well, I guess Portia isn't the only one forcing unflattering styles on her daughters. Points to her for moxie going to the queen's brunch. It's good that Daphne tried to help Marina, but her equating their situations in her mind is astoundingly unaware. Just, shut up, Daphne. Oh, and I felt more heat from Simon and Anthony's fight than I did from all of the rutting across various hard, uncomfortable surfaces. Poor, poor Marina. 😞

I don't remember, was Will a book character? A jaded duke having a sparring partner to pound the pain out of him certainly seems par for course. He and Alice are maybe the only characters not to get on my nerves.

It’s a good article. I forgot how awful it was in the book.
-
I imagine he did, but he was th only one of the three not in the know. On the topic, 1) that’s Julian Ovenden playing the painter, why age him up, Netflix?, 2) Lucy Grenville sounded so familiar that I thought this was another character that was shifted like Marina. But I think it just may be the name being similar to Loretta Chase’s Lydia Grenville that’s throwing me off.

The sex was boring as hell. Although I am greatful for Simon taking his clothes off regularly, it came as a relief once he got down to estate business. It was a boring episode overall with Marina being the only symapthetic and understandable character. That was a very real moment when she told Penelope that George’s letter being forged didn’t change anything. It really didn’t. I’ve decided that the actor playing Colin is just badly miscast. There were actually a few good-on-paper lines for him in this episode, but the delivery fell so flat. And so glad that Penelope and Eloise made up at the end. Maybe Eloise will unclench a bit. I know I said that she was my favorite, but she’s getting to be a bit much, even for me.

Their hero status offers them protection. It's the villain of the piece or the odius side player like Berbrooke who'll get himself into that mess.
-
Francesca wasn't there. It's even more noticeable when Daphne is saying goodbye to her family as she departs with Simon. She's off somewhere with someone... practicing her piano playing or something. It was mentioned earlier in an episode but I forget what it was exactly. And since Simon and Daphne's wedding was arranged in three days, I suppose she didn't have the time to show up.
-
Poor Phillipa. She and Mr Finch were having such good fun flirting about cheese. 😁 I do hope her mother manages to squeeze out some money for her dowry somewhere. It's hard to feel very sorry for Penelope since I'm perplexed as to what she sees in Colin. But what a bad and hilarious night Eloise had. First the housekeeper, then Penelope losing it at her. The scene with the housekeeper was chef's kiss. The way the housekeeper was having none of it, how Eloise was trying for haughty with less than zero success, just all of it. I am so torn about Anthony, he seems to be growing by leaps and bounds as a brother, telling Daphne he'd give the prince the chance to call on her when she was good and ready was light years away from him showing up with a batzered Berbrooke and wedding arrangements. And then there's this other fool throwing himself at Sienna that makes me want to gag. Maybe the reason Colin has no personality is that Anthony's been given two.
-
Yes, they could have at least given him sandwiches to munch on if he's completely silent anyhow!

Which is a damn shame because book Colin is such a charmer, he's witty and sharp but also kind, and someone you'd wish to be sat next to at a dinner party. And he's so verbal in the books so he should be pretty easy to translate well to screen. Instead, from what I've seen so far, he's filling out the background on the show.
