  1. The Twin Peaks line I use most is "the owls are not what they seem". Even though no one gets it anymore. It's not a Log Lady line, but I'm sorry to learn of her death.
  2. A student just thanked me for helping her, I said "no problem" out of reflex, and then immediately cringed inwardly as I thought of your collective reaction.
  3. I'd summon Robert (Call me Bob) Barnard just for the fun of it. Him and Reginald Hill.
  4. If I am ever at a seance, I want to summon Agatha Christie and ask her to explain cream cake.
  5. I wasn't watching the screen and I jumped the first time he barked out an answer. Dial it back, pal.
  6. It's a bit of a relief that I'm not the only one confused by cream cake.
  7. Thanks, you guys, for explaining the daring comment. I know nothing of the church's finances, futurechemist, but imo "liquidating" the Sistine Chapel would be a crime against the human spirit. I also don't know how much, if any, say an individual pope has in the merch. Did JP2 really personally approve the fabulous Pope Decanter I bought in the '80s? Probably not. I hope some of the $$$ gathered does at least go toward various charities and what not. Fun fact: If you shop at one of the stores in Vatican City, they'll hold your purchases, have them blessed by the pope, and deliver them to your hotel (I bought St. Francis medals for me and my cat-owning friends). I picture the pontiff pausing in the open door of a warehouse stacked with kitsch, flicking some holy water in the general direction of the pile, doing the cross thing, and moving along to his next mundane papal chore.
  8. I guessed Cordon Bleu but assumed it was wrong.
  9. What was daring about last night's show? I'm missing something. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Pope saw the show and sent Stephen a message about the chair?
  10. Thank you for explaining fairy cake! Now, what is a cream cake and how does it differ from other cakes? I've always wondered when reading British mysteries and someone serves a cream cake.
  11. I was sorry Stephen wasn't there to congratulate him, but I'm glad John Oliver was.
  12. Adrien Brody's looking like Severus Snape: The Early Years.
  13. Kerry Washington is auditioning for a job in a 1970s disco. Or the DWTS trophy.
  14. Keegan-Michael Key is fantastic. I hope he's on another TV series soon. Morena Baccarin. when ugly dresses happen to beautiful women. Elizabeth Moss is becoming Gillian Anderson.
  15. Damn, Alison Janney, are those cut-outs? Yowza. Julie Bowen looks good! It's always a crap shoot with her. I like the white tuxedo on Tatiana Maslany, too.
  16. Not loving Amy Poehler's dress. Or hair. Like her, though.
  17. Ariel Winter is starting to look like a younger Sofia Vergara.
  18. Joanna Frogett forgot to take a curler out of her hair. Trevor Noah...I want to like him but seeing him just reminds me how much I miss Jon.
  19. Hey, folks. I'm not sure, but I think it might be warm in LA. It's just a gut feeling.
  20. Jaimie Alexander is wearing the rainbow bridge! Alert Heimdall!
  21. I think I like Taraji P. Henson's dress. Oh, come on, Heidi Klum! That looks like someone stuck together pieces of 3 different garments that all happpen to be the same color.
  22. Looks like Amy Schumer was attacked by birds looking for a nest.
