  1. I was soundly clapping at Teddy for that end monologue to owen, I'm glad they mentioned Beth because man owen is such a self absorbed prick and a womaniser that he has been on my last nerve since season 6. bummer he's not being sailed of to Germany permanently though. I wanted to hit me so bad when he brought up Henry ugh. anyways teddy laying owen off was as satisfying as watching Cristina throw a cereal bowl on his face. I just teddy doesn't retracts herself. Sarah Drew did some great acting of her entire career in this episode. the actress is such an great treat when her scenes are beyond April's relationship. I always feel that most of japril relationship and jesse Williams himself benefit a lot from Drew's acting calibre. I agree with above comments about the lack of apology on April's part to Bailey being a needle that sticked out but the way April's been struggling, I won't judge her for the same. Meredith and Scott speedman were I don't know okayish? Maybe I didn't see that much of spark because I always cringe when they try romanticise a doctor patient relationship(but that's just me). This season's format of having 3 or 2 extended stories instead of 6-7 short ones is absolutely refreshing. So while I did missed other essential characters, I wasn't that bothered to worry/complain about the same.
  2. I pretty much remember that Eric's departure was also because of budget cuts. Plus his personal life was a mess back then with multiple affairs, checking into rehab for addiction etc. I remember there was a interview where he said that he want better story for Mark that doesn't involve third wheeling a power couple (calzona) but with Chyler's exit (because of her son) the same couldn't be done. The lame line that Mark can't live without sofia ( a man who probably have a kid running around in each state attributing to his manwhore nature) was just a poor cover up by Shondaland (same as lack of creativity for Jessica n Sarah)
  3. I agree with the Callie part. Her character was so OOC that I have to double check whether it's the same character I fell in love with. She became so self absorbed and thought-less, along with that custody sl, and chasing tails a useless resident that somewhere I wished that Shondaland should just kill her off instead of such severe character assassination. Coming to the current sls, I think the way Jackson is acting, it would be just great for April to skip country with Harriet but then again I also know that Shondaland loves portraying the guys as 'super dads'. They pretty much have great characters after characters servicing at Owen's foot, only to show his 'aching womb' So, I think to prop Jackson's character over the current incest-y hook up, they'll show him as some super single dad extraordinaire. And for that to happen, April has to be killed off. Or do something equally damaging for Jackson to seek and win sole custody. While I'm not a fan of Arizona chasing Callie yet again, but I guess that's the only way she can be written off. The writers could do something respectful for her and allow her to get a more pristine job at, let's say John Hopkins, and thus be nearer to Sofia all the time, but I don't trust these writers so that's that.
  4. oh boy. well when he first showed up i thought maybe they will explore mapril again. he might be the best person right now to help april in her crisis of faith.
  5. I like japril but the corresponding fandom is a bit all over the places when they craft stories after stories insinuating that GA TPTB/Ellen were afraid of couple's popularity. Japril pretty much ended with the divorce imho and GA has been doing great. It's the same as Calzona fandom who in season 11 were at same conclusion that Calzona became bigger than Merder and were therefore ill-treated as an couple. Popularity wise, I do think that Merder, Slexie and Calzona were iconic but Japril, not that much (YouTube views on certain videos doesn't equate power couple status). Japril has been more like Crowen, they do have a supportive and loud fanbase but logically the pair doesn't suit each other. Sarah as an actress has always been an powerhouse and so are the actors and actresses on the show. The notion that someone feels threatened and that's why someone is slacked is childish at its best. I think this much stronger backlash (bigger than what happened when Patrick, Sandra & Sara left) on Jessica & Sarah's departure has more to do with the characters being unique, underrepresented and irreplaceable then anything else. The departure sucks. But if you have been fan of this show since long and an avid viewer of what happened during season 8 finale (Eric Dane's sacking fiasco), you would know clearly that the departures were more from budgetary angle. Jessica and Sarah were tire 2 actresses and are probably paid the highest after tire 1 (which IMO compromises of the OGs), now fans may think that why not fire the newbies or interns but again firing those won't make much change in the budget. Somewhere I do feel that these budget changes were made to accommodate Ellen's whooping raise which is unjustified to others of course but this is how this business runs. I wish GA TPTB could actually reevaluate their decision here solely for the fact that Arizona and April bring so much versatility to the table but then again, who would want to go back to a show from which they were fired from. Coming to Krista, I do feel that Shonda messed up here. Stacy McKee has also been there from the start and she also headlined S11 and would have done a better job has she not been packed off to Station 19. The same goes for other essential writers & TPTB of GA who were transferred to Scandal/HTGAWM/Station 19 viz David Greenspan, Tony and Joan, Zoanne Clack, Stacey and Bill, Tia Lucia, Karin Gleason, Tom Verica et al.
  6. A friggin' plane over prospect studio for 30 minutes with a banner saying we love Sarah drew and Jessica Capshaw. I can't remember any other major cast departure bringing in this kind of reaction from fans. Should Greys TPTB reevaluate their decision? People : Grey's Anatomy Fans Raise Over $1K to Fly Banner in Support of Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw
  7. I literally missed Arizona in this episode. Whenever Alex hits a roadblock I always feed Arizona would be a better person to go to but of course Meredith is the sun. I still don't get the whole point of Maggie's backstory. Didn't we had am episode in season 11 when Maggie had 92 minutes monologue on her awkwardness and how she was bullied yada yada. Alex and Jo's back story add some layers to their characters but with Maggie it's essentially showing zero character development. Because she's still the same. I have never been a Japril fan but I do like April's character and wished Jackson would have batted an eyelash on seeing a half naked man at his ex's house. I saw on social media how japril fans were fawning over his concern over April in last episode. Where did that concern went? I don't understand Greys obsession with Owen's sex drive and propping women after women to satisfy the same. What was the whole purpose of Amelia's tumour story line if she was to go back to man pain Owen again. The jolex proposal was cute. And I liked that Jo proposed him (Camilla still needs to brush up her acting skills though) Overall I wouldn't have mind if this would have been an Alex-standalone episode with voiceovers and all.
  8. geez there's a petition against Sarah and Jessica's departure with more than 30k signatures and now a gofundme project with $600 already raised to fly some banner over prospect studio. the fans are literally out of hands here.
  9. Shonda and co do tend to get at 'reverse racism' to push their agenda. When Maggie was introduced, Shonda herself said that she wanted to introduce Richard and Ellis's black daughter since season 4. So obviously there are a lot of paths cleared for her, sls in which she's included and what not. now I'm not saying there's anything wrong in pushing a black character front and centre, nope, but i wish it didn't seem this forced. Maybe if she had actually been introduced from s4 then it all would have been different.
  10. Eric Dane didn't wanted to leave, Chyler wanted to exit (because of her son's condition) but Dane was also essentially let go because of budgetary cuts + his drug addiction and multiple affairs that were causing some defamation for ABC. They wanted to kept his exit under wraps at the end of season 8/onset of season 9 along with Jessica's status on the show. But the cast (especially Patrick, Kevin, Sara) indirectly and directly spilled the beans on the suspense that ABC wanted to cash on on. Under any circumstances, I don't think Dane's exit was in any terms mutual. There were also interviews by him saying that he wanted better storylines for Mark & Slexie instead of just third wheeling with Calzona. The latest scoop says that Kim Raver's entry is plotted around 'april's crisis of faith's episode...so I'm pretty much guessing that April decides to join Army again, which they can stretch for as long as they want while keeping the Japril fandom alive with an hope of possible return.
  11. Arizona and April bring in 'targeted' audience, Shonda's statement shows that even she knows that Arizona and April represent two underrepresented communities. So yeah, I think it is pathetic that even after knowing all this, they choose these two actresses to got rid of. The backlash on social media is justified. One of my friends told me that the backlash this time is bigger than what they received when Derek or Callie left. Maybe it has more to do with that Patrick and Sara got exit that was a mutual decision. But this? Jessica and Sarah's statement shows that they have been pretty much fired. Now the heat Ellen is receiving may or may not be completely justified but then again you have Ellen showcasing herself as a token of feminism and yet we didn't see something Jessica Chastain~Octivia Spencer ish here. Anyways, as network ABC probably welcomes all this beef up and attention. I will probably never understand why they choose two underrepresented characters when you have fossils like Webber, Hunt etc on the show or the useless characters like Maggie, the delucas etc. Maybe it has more to do with the fact that ABC or Greys getting rid of Maggie or Amelia or Owen or Webber or Delucas and interns wouldn't have caused such shit storms. It would have been an luke warm like Stephanie's exit.
  12. I didn't liked Jackson at all in this episode. This is just Greys style of brushing of its male characters behaviour as being worried and all but it never comes across as such. I feel for the most part, Arizona associated April's partying & one wine bottle a night situation to her owns when she Callie moved on to downgrade Penny. I remember Arizona was also going to trivia night every night at that time and she even asked April to accompany her but April politely declined and Arizona had to settle with Webber (which was an fun arc btw). Also Meredith's dinner party when Callie introduced downgrade Penny to everyone had Arizona drinking herself to oblivion. What I didn't liked is they never had Callie give two cents about her ex-wife being OOC but obviously they have Jackson doing the same. But I wish it seemed genuine. For the most part it came out nosey. April's arc right now is a promising one and I hope the writers don't push it to once again to service Jackson's story line (or his ego). I will never understand why Greys, which supposedly a female oriented show, mostly have its male characters as some kind of god's (except Alex, ofc, Alex is the only gentleman) I wish April could have a big medical story line (maybe with Tom?) or just a solo story line) Also, I will never understand why the women on this show when seen partying or dancing or drinking or having casual sex or considered to be having a downfall when the male counterparts are praised as being free sprit or smiling or happy or cool (viz Mark, Jackson, Derek etc)
  13. I find it funny, the great Meredith Grey, Harper Avery extraordinaire didn't know what patent rights are and how they exist. And April and her 'co-team', whoever those were, didn't cross verified the same before seeding them. for me, with Alex and Arizona being most underused character, I would have route for either but with Alex facing rejection, I'm all for Arizona finding an innovative & cost effective way to curb Maternal mortality, which IMO is a serious issue in US. She's looking for a way around the same, not the statistics (can't believe how some above poster came up with that lol)
  14. I'm glad that Alex and Amelia & Arizona's theme of innovation was something that was need of hour and not just for the purpose of winning the grant. Still not sure why Alex & Amelia got rejection. The way April's eyes lit up when Arizona told her that it was not their fault that Karen died, it was like a weight got lifted off of April. I'm all for dark April the little moments she have with Arizona are always quite pure. Can't believe that Greys went there where it will challenge America's healthcare system (maternal mortality is a touchy subject, one USA wants to overlook). I liked Meredith's point of innovation also but she just won Harper Avery, it's time for other doctors to get their recognition, especially Alex and Arizona. Still not sure whether I would like to see more Carina or not. Her accent is really heavy. Jo and Meredith together are just too much for me to digest, I would have preferred those Jo scenes with Alex but yeah yeah yeah Meredith is the sun. Catherine Avery will always be annoying to me. Bailey was magical for me in last episode, but again in this episode she's impractical. The new set of interns are.... acceptable. But I'm tired of seeing season after season having someone fawning over Jackson like please. Give the 'he's charming' sl a break, we have been seeing that since season 6. Overall it was a built up episode, wish we could skip the crissover and jump straight to competition.
  15. Arizona maintained an long-arc, non romantic Sl throughout S11, viz. Herman sl which was good and powerful sl for her. Her dating arc didn't even started until late S12 when she saw Callie moving on with Penny and even at that time she was mostly without a love interest per se. I always she feel she's more of a independent character (unlike Callie, who's SLs are a always 'her sexuality and romantic interest' oriented. She was kissing and dating immediately post her divorce) and that's why hate it when people say that Arizona needs 'Eliza' to be happy like? Are we watching the same show? i would love to see April and Arizona be the independent character they are sans their love interest. As its more logical and organic. And count me in those who don't want any respectable women to be paired with Jackson as that character is total shit if anything else. If we want a romantic interest for Maggie, let's just dial back to Maluca. That'll save us the trouble of going into another unneccsary love triangle with Jo-Deluca-Alex...
  16. Penny did had an redemption arc. Which was all about finding her 'voice'. She couldn't use her voice when Derek was dying but Meredith taught her how to. In 'sound of silence' penny shouted at Jackson and viola she found her voice. It was as poorly executed as it sounds. I think her character ended there only, the rest of part she played in season was just for first probably for a potential CALZONA reunion and her exit but later it became an leeway for Sara's exit. And what a poor exit Sara got. Even with the redemption arc , penny's character was just bland and unlikeable. I still don't understand how they wrote callie chasing tails of someone who doesn't even knows what standard her daughter studies in.... Not to mention the multiple ongoing projects, the position of chief of ortho...her village and other important things Callie dropped...it was a utter mess.
  17. I'm kind of tired GA doing this thing where it creates an unlike able character than uses our seasoned characters to prop them up for entire season and then in the end realizes that the character is still unlikeable and drops them. Season 11 - The cop guy for Callie, Derek's Washington nurse... S12 - Penny S13 - Minnick. while s11 was still okay as those characters didn't engulfed 80% of screen time and half of season. S12 and 13 are worse. These characters don't add any thing to our seasoned characters if only they bring the seasoned characters down. Look what no-body and mere decimal Callie became at the end. No one even mentions her. At least Cristina gets mentioned here and there. And for having a beef with the creators, Katie's characters Izzie gets mentioned well as well but none for Callie. I feel bad for Ramirez. What a disservice
  18. I'm not sure if Minnick is entirely gone as Marika was hella enthusiastic on Twitter for someone's last day on a show. She also said that playing Eliza is the best thing that has happened to her. obviously she's enjoying the attention one would easily get if they're paired opposite with Arizona (or Callie). As much I don't like the character, I won't mind if GA kept her off screw vile as Arizona's partner (she can show up once a season like Adele or like Ben used to be in earlier season) as long as the series runs or Sara returns.... My problem with Jackson and Maggie is that when I know that japril are endgame I just don't want another black woman to be dragged though a love triangle and then dropped off like next day garbage (like they did with Steph. Sometimes I don't even understand how people like Jackson smh). and also this season is out of places. Every story is right where it started from. Accept now we have added Owen's man pain. the promo pics had an Alex Arizona scene (probably regarding Alex's decision) which got cut. How we are even supposed to root for Jolex when that ship is just baseless now. im glad Steph is leaving, never liked any intern from S9 batch anyway. can shonda bring Teddy back though? Now that they have mentioned her.
  19. I think it's unfair to blame Camilla's pregnancy on lack of Jolex story line. Jessica got the major sl of Calzona court room fight while Jessica was gloriously pregnant last season. If I remember, she was pregnant during Herman arc as well? Arizona fans complain that she doesn't get sl but if look closely she has some major arcs over season. Her character has got a central focus this past season. Just this season only, how many fetal cases have been there...so I feel that the only thing is that the writers don't know what to do with Jolex. They want Alex as Meredith's pet and Jolex sl just doesn't fits with that. And it won't until Alex's first priority isn't Jo. So it's like they have hit a rock. They throw some cheap drama and thrills here and there in their sl but that relationship lacks depth.
  20. 12x23 synopsis: Amelia and Owen deepen their relationship; Alex has a clearer view of his future with Jo; Callie and Arizona struggle with custody arrangements. So safe to say that only one of them gets custody. and that's the cue for this storyline being not about any calzona reconciliation at all. shonda probably just wanted to this storyline so she could show the shaming a lgbtq single parent gets if they're not biological parent.
  21. The new promo. How in heaven's face is Callie asking Alex Karev of all people to take her side?? Arizona told Herman once that Callie got all the friends in divorce and that's true. Alex and April are probably the only two peeps Arizona have and Callie wants Alex??? Will greys writer ever draw a line on how much they will ruin Callie's character?? If this is what takes her out of GSMH than I'm all in I liked the musical, white wedding and the callie episode but didn't like the cristina one. rest she has moved on from giving good stories to calzona to Owen and amelia. since this episode immediately follows the custody battle episode, I'm curious what this will be about.
  22. Few more points - If penny's grant is for a year, why callie isn't just taking a leave of absence instead. Callie said they will move Sofia after the school year, when is that? After 6 months? And if six months are already over then what's the point of leaving? If she's planning on settling in NY, has she discussed it with penny who might want to complete her residency? If the school called Arizona, that means she must have been stated as Sofia's mom in Sofia's certificates and boy if that's the case, god she's much calmer than anyone else would have been because callie has already done something illegal. And why isn't penny her girlfriend making her understand that it's okay if callie stays back in Seattle? It's just a year. Long distance work. Look at Catherine and Richard.
  23. I liked this episode. It reminded me why I rooted for Calzona once because boy sara and jcap are literal fire. even when they're disagreeing, there's so much intensity, depth and feelings their that it puts even the supposed to be affectionate callie penny scenes to shame. I always thought sara ramirez can strike a chemistry with anyone but then they gave her a penny and it has been downhill ever since. im glad sara finally have something meaty to sink her teeths in this season. jessica on other hand was so genuinely beautiful. that scene with Webber when she told him 'Callie's moving to ny", you can really see the anger on her face but also the pain in her eyes. brava. i was glad bailey called callie out. because for ffs I can't understand callie at all. really she compared arizona being from a military family and moving with BOTH her parents and a sibling to her taking Sofia away from her?? she found an apartment, she enlisted sofia but nope she isn't planning on taking sofia away from arizona. does Callie thinks everyone is as shallow and thoughtless like her? ugh I can't with her. I'm glad Arizona got a lawyer because Callie is just going round and round with 'I'm not making a decision' when she sure as hell have. i know arizona won't win but I'm all for her fighting for the thing she loves. sofia is all she is left with. I would have been damned if she hasn't fought. the last scene though, i got chills with the way they stare each other down. i would be damned if this chemistry goes wasted for some loose change. Ben and Bailey- meh. Forced drama. I don't know why Bailey isn't supportive of Ben. Japril - I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Sisterhood- glad we got see the kids. they're trying to make Meredith Maggie what Mer & Lexie were and I'm not buying it. I found it odd that Meredith pushes everyone to date and love, except jolex and Calzona. is it because she wants alex and Callie to be forever at her disposal? Owen Riggs - yaaawwwnnn every episode it's a different revelation. It's so dragging it's annoying ugh. Jolex - shouldn't Jo having a gun convo should have happened eons ago and the loft was bought by Jo, why the fuck Alex was all 'not in my house'. He never treats Jo respectfully. Gun control - poorly handed story line. A show that's so diversed, of course the family keeping guns and kids playing with it are all white. thank you shonda, i really needed that to be told to my face.
  24. Please tell me it's alien invasion! I'm dying for Greys to go supernatural. Maybe Meredith is a vampire and that's how she survives everything.
  25. That and Meredith had Zola taken away from her and Derek after she screwed up his trial so she knows that pain and technically she should side with arizona but she's more of Callie's friend so I think she'll be on Callie's side.
