  1. I was so effing mad at Monte for "jacking up" (hate that term) the granddaughter in the nearly $3000 over budget dress! Why couldn't he put the magic veil on with the more flattering, imo, ball gown dress that was in budget? These entitled brides who can't cough up a couple of thousand dollars for their dream dress drive me insane. Five K was a very generous budget to begin with, but no, that wasn't good enough for his baby girl, he had to kick common sense to the curb and go WAY over budget for a dress the granddaughter will wear for a few hours and put into storage after. Hope he was able to pay the gas bills this winter - oh well, I guess it doesn't matter, as long as his baby girl got her dream gown. (Insert annoyed noise here, my kindle insists on making it into a real word.) Sheesh!
  2. For Adam and Jaime, gathering all the equipment did slow them down, just about doubling their original times. Well, duh - who expected a thing different? Of course it would. But then they recruited some super in shape mixed martial arts guy (similar to the guy in the game) and he wasn't slowed down at all. He might have even improved his time a little bit. Color me very surprised - I expected the extra weight to slow anybody down, but that didn't turn out to be the case.
  3. Random thoughts: Brittany is indeed quite masculine in her demeanor, but she and her bride seem to care for each other deeply and make a lovely couple. Brittanys bride's sisters need to be told it is indeed possible to have too much hair. You couldn't find their faces through all that hair. Perhaps I have no business saying so, not being of color myself, but I thought The sister of the long distance bride looked gorgeous with her natural hair. You don't see much of that anymore, and I appreciate d her bucking the trend. I wouldn't know, but I imagine it would be easier to take care of as well. I thought The long distance bride looked best in the first, fitted gown. The ballgown style did indeed swallow her. Her bff has seen Coming to America too many times. Forty year old bride was in fantastic shape and looked marvelous in the gown her fiance picked. He really nailed that one. I'm glad she chose that dress even though her fiance had already seen it - that was definitely the right dress for her. Forgive errors, I am posting on my kindle and sometimes it has a mind of its own.
  4. Ah, I see I am not alone in my Michael love. Yay, Michael! Favorite PR contestant ever, and I was delighted to see him pop up here. Also glad he didn't get paired with Kimanni, who I found a leetle too full of herself for my liking. Look, I was a 13 year old girl once, and I remember quite well how self-centered one can get and how easily one can get carried away and go over the top. I'm glad she got a little comeuppance - what is cute and forgivable in a 13 year old adolescent becomes less cute and acceptable with each passing year. Self confidence in one thing, but playing queen over all one surveys is something else. I liked Tieler (but hated his name - really, don't parents realize they are dooming their child to having to say "My name is Tieler - T-I-E-L-E-R" for the rest of their lives? What an awful thing to do to an innocent child - it's pronounced the same, after all.) Anyway, liked Tieler, liked his clothes, particularly the flower dress, and am glad he won. I would have been okay with Bella winning as well - she seemed a nice girl, and did good work. Interesting how Christian manages to point out how some garment or design could be improved every week, and always seems to be right. I imagine the dress the way he described it and realize, yes, that would have been much better. He's always kind to the kids and has good advice - a good choice for a judge on this show.
  5. When Alfonso was flat on the floor after he hurt his back, I half expected Witney to ask him if he wanted a snack. Maybe I'm just in a good mood, but I enjoyed the entire show. I want Alfonso to win, but couldn't really complain if any of the others took home the Coveted Mirror Ball Trophy - they are all good, and an argument could be made that they all deserve to win. I admit Alfonso is somewhat of a ringer, but I thing a ringer's ringeriness depends somewhat on how much one likes him or her. I like Alfonso, and hope he can hang on to take it all.
  6. This episode had me guessing start to finish, but I don't think anybody saw that ending coming! Absolute genius. In a way, it would have been a good final episode, revealing the whole series with its primitive graphics had all taken place in virtual reality. But I love South Park, so I'm glad this wasn't the finale, no matter how appropriate it might have been. I've been over the Simpsons for a quite few years now, but SP after so long still remains fresh and funny, IMO. Not every episode is a winner, but enough of them are. Long live Matt and Trey, and long live South Park!
  7. Maybe Stan had better buy that Rehab Hero game this time, instead of a driving game.
  8. Well, if all the eliminated contestants got to go to Korea, then I'm glad for them. What a great experience, even if they are no longer in contention of winning all those fabulous prizes, such as the opportunity to be signed with Next Agency (no guarantee of being signed, mind you, just the opportunity). Speaking as someone who has never been outside of the United States, or even west of the Mississippi River, I am glad they all got to travel overseas even if they gain nothing more than the memories. It is somewhat confusing, though, I'll admit. Check out Matthew's photo - it's to die for, perfection. It looks as though he is photoshopped in - just suspended, floating in the air.
  9. I was married in 1988, and thank goodness, I actually BORROWED my mother's wedding dress from 1959. I say borrowed, since I "returned" it in its original, unaltered condition. Tightish, lightly beaded bodice with a boat-neck, long fitted sleeves with pointed ends, tea length (mid-calf) with a little petticoat underneath to give the skirt a slight flare. It was perfect for my outdoor, afternoon ceremony and, if I say so as shouldn't, I look wonderful in my photos - simple, classic and timeless. (Fortunately for me, the ONE day I was photogenic happened to by my wedding day.) Looking back, I am more grateful than ever that I didn't buy a new dress - undoubtedly, it would have been one of those Princess Di horrors that were popular at the time. Mom didn't actually care if I chose to wear her dress or not, but she did insist I at least try it on - on the hanger it looked a mess, which is why I get so annoyed with some of the brides on SYTTD etc who reject a gown without even trying it on. It looked fine on, however, and Mom was pleased I chose to wear her dress. Needless to say, so was my dad - it didn't cost him a cent! In fact, my entire wedding came in at under $500. (Mom says our dress originally cost about $60, and it was a size 14 while I wore a size 7, yet it fit well enough that it didn't need to be altered. Times sure have changed, haven't they?)
  10. I couldn't stop thinking that, if I walked into a salon and was greeted by an overly tanned, obviously bleached blonde with no eyebrows and pale pink lipstick, who was over the age of 18 or so, I would walk right back out. Such an unflattering look, and I thought a poor advertisement for their services. But what do I know; that could be the latest "in" look and I wouldn't have a clue - it seems to be working for her, anyway. I too was wondering what made the house shampoo so special and worth $18, much less $22. That's a lot of money for a single bottle of shampoo in my household. Ha - I wrote this before I read the recap (great job, btw - thanks very much, as always) but I see Sarah shared my alarm at the one employee's look. Great minds, and all that, I suppose.
  11. Chris! Yay! I love me some Chris March, and I think the above idea is a fantastic one. I totally get the crushes on Dmitry (and he is indeed fab - thrilled to have him back too) but I just want to be Chris's bestie and listen to him tell stories and laugh his big, booming laugh all day long. He just seems like he would be so much fun to hang out with. I hope he sticks around a long time and would love to see him win it all.
  12. I, too, was one screaming "Run! Run as fast as you can!" to Ricardo Silva when Miss Thang announced she needed two dresses, but I knew he wouldn't listen. Who knows why someone is drawn to someone else? She wasn't even that cute; not nearly as cute as she thought she was, anyway. Though it seems he is happy being a teacher now and is making a success of it. Good on him! I wonder how Miss Thang feels about being the wife of a lowly $51K teacher at a disadvantaged school rather than a glamorous football player?
  13. ^^^ Yeah, that was great. So funny. Also loved Derek Waters casting himself as the most handsomest American von Steuben had ever seen. Can't get enough of Drunk Historty overall (though I do question some points of historical accuracy). I remember being dubious of the whole idea when it was first being promoted, but it won me over in the first segment. I find myself laughing throughout the half-hour, and have to watch it again to catch all the parts I missed the first time around. Long Live Drunk History, is what I say.
  14. I had promised myself that I would spoiler the win, and if Asha won, I would delete the episode unwatched. So glad I was able to watch it after all, and a bonus that Asha was not a contender for the win. Oscar was my favorite from the beginning and for once it seems my instincts were correct. What a genuinely nice guy, absolutely drama free. "I hope Shan wins." "It is wonderful that all four of us will compete in the finale." "You will help me a lot and I want you to see what you can do, too." All in a charming accent. I didn't mind that he repeated some looks - I thought maybe he'd want the audience of presumably influential people to see some of his best work. Who cares that a couple of judges had seen it before? I'm so glad he won, and hope he goes far. Nick was over the moon, but of course he is an emotional guy and this is his first win, too. Shan's family was adorable. The little girl was so excited during the show, while the little boys were conked out... too cute. I rather liked his collection, so he was of course the first eliminated. Normally the winning collection is one that I wouldn't be caught dead in on my best day, though I will admit I am not what you would call fashion-forward. I wish Shan well in his future career. I liked elements of Sam's collection as well, and was pleased he came in second, if Shan couldn't. I wish him well, too. Ha. I had the same thought - the mentors pretty much said they'd let the designers do what they do. I can do that from my recliner. Come to think of it, I've been mentoring all the designers from the first show. As someone else said, the line of the night: "I got 1920's carny couture." in response to Asha's collection As soon as Neil Patrick Harris said that, I was like, "Exactly!" I couldn't put my finger on the right description for Asha's looks, but NPH got it right, absolutely on the nose. The rest of his crititques were spot on as well. He was certainly one of the better celebrity judges, which I didn't necessarily expect. So-so show, satisfying ending.
  15. Oscar was my favorite from the beginning, and the more time goes by, the more I feel my intuition was correct. He's a nice guy, fairly drama-free, and makes pretty clothes with good construction. I am (obviously) hoping he wins but am getting more and more afraid of a set=up for an Asha win. It is amusing that when Asha has great ideas but has trouble with construction, she gets to hang around even though she has created several absolute atrocities, but when Natalia has great ideas but has trouble with construction, she is a pariah and must be sent home. Granted, Natalia sent herself home, but I couldn't blame her. Who would want to hang around and be shunned by everyone? I was appalled by the rudeness displayed by last week's episode. Dollars to doughnuts that Sam gets sent home next week, so that each mentor has a finalist. I will spoiler myself for the finale, and if Asha wins, I swear the show will get deleted unwatched. I just can't stand the sight of her anymore (and Mondo and Anya are pretty close behind). I can live with a Shan win, but here's to Oscar going all the way. I am ready for this season to be over. Disappointing show overall.
