Everyone's mileage will vary on legacy status, of course, but the way I see it... Being a legacy might help you get noticed or past a first hurdle, but you'll still have to prove yourself once you're in the door. It was that way during sorority rush, too. We might have given a pass first day and almost always would keep a legacy that made it to pref night, but if she wasn't fitting in on day two or three she'd be cut. Being Jerry Jones' daughter might have gotten Charlotte through some doors, but she's always seemed extremely savvy to me and likely kicks ass at her job. I like that her daughter also appears to be carving her own path, perhaps before she comes back into the family fold. Families who are wealthy because of their businesses don't usually maintain their wealth by only hiring slackers. I don't personally care for Jerry Jones, but I don't think he'd keep Charlotte in position if she wasn't earning her keep. I feel the same about Cassie, VK, Dayton, etc...they might get a little bit of a pass on early stages, but they wouldn't end up in camp (or in Cassie's case) on the squad for five years if they tripped over their own feet constantly or had nothing to offer. Cassie's audtion looked rough her rookie year, but she had her tumbling and a desire to learn. She had potential and heaven knows we've seen potential in camp and on the squad just about every year that didn't necessarily "deserve" it in our eyes.

Tasha’s Instagram is delightfully extra if you want to take a joyful look, but I assume it’s in reference to these. Tasha’s Instagram is delightfully extra if you want to take a joyful look, but I assume it’s in reference to these.

Thanks! I have a very good friend who also went to a DO school and is a surgeon...just couldn’t remember at what point they’re officially doctors as we more commonly know it. Once they pass boards? As soon as an internship starts? Residency? Can they just open private practice. I gotta go google some stuff. Grey’s Anatomy just hasn’t properly schooled me over the years, I guess. Good on Cersten for pursuing the dream, even if it’s a little different than the norm.

So when Carsten graduates from med school, what title would she have, if any? Can she use the term MD? Her history says she’d use it even if she didn’t technically earn it, but still. Even if for whatever reason she doesn’t find a residency in the US (which I doubt since she’s very well connected) can she still use that degree? There are a zillion jobs out there that require the medical knowledge earned in med school but wouldn’t require a residency. So she could still make bank, call herself a doctor but not actually be a doctor in the sense that we’re thinking. And certainly couldn’t be a surgeon. That said, last one in the class at the very worst ranked school that still manages to graduate is still a doctor ?♀️ Always things to think about when we’re getting our very expensive health care!!

I like VK’s Instagram post. She seemed thankful for the opportunity, supportive of the women she met along the way and excited to come back next year. Everything a positive, sparkly cut TCC should say if she’s planning to return. Or even if she wasn’t ?♀️ Maybe I give too much grace for her being 18. I think she just ran away with what were probably throwaway comments like “of course you have what it takes to make the team” and “you’re such a fabulous dancer” and “it’s so exciting to see a legacy on the field.” Immaturity and well intentioned compliments might have just made her cocky, and she got a solid reality check. I personally like her response and wish her well this next year.

Seems like Keyra was probably on the bubble because of her sass and punctuality...and then they got enough solid dancers out of the rookies that they didn’t need to keep her. I absolutely hate seeing any WOC dropped from the squad bc I think that bouquet needs more diversity (and even if it doesn’t match DFW demographics it just makes for a more interesting picture to have varied skin tones and hair textures/colors), but both cuts seemed justified this year. I would like to say varied hair styles, too, but lord knows that isn’t happening. I know long, flowy hair dances well, but I still think there’s room for natural hair on the squad.

That’s the team Breelan ended up dancing on after she was cut, right? I always liked her, and wish she had done college first then DCC. Talented and beautiful, just needed some seasoning! I think some of these gals try out right out of high school for the experience and then shock themselves by making it to camp. KD her first time for sure, but I imagine it happens almost every year. I figured they would be first and last, tho Maddie always does an upbeat number. Lyrical is so lovely but can be snoozy or overly emotional (see VK.) Seems like all of the fun, power dancers are just missing ?♀️ And poor Kash. She’s had some solid abs and been very fit (two years ago calendar, maybe?) but I just don’t think that’s her normal. I feel like they stole her sparkle this episode.

I agree with you and am now also curious if you're from Utah. The r/antimlm board on Reddit makes it sound like Utah is the source and hot spot for any and all MLM activity! I do think there are some awesome and amazing business plans on Kickstarter, which is crowd funding. I think you know exactly what you're signing up for on there, though, at least from the few things I've seen.

I feel like the Tara trashing VK thing got ponied up as a joke 15 pages ago and is now being treated as gold ?? Of all the people to call out for talking smack, she wouldn’t have made my short list. It was probably being outdanced/weight gain plain and simple.

I could be crazy, but wouldn't that be pretty standard for any type of athlete/dancer/sportsball person and their coachs/team owners? Especially if they're using team doctors, trainers, nutritionists and such. Their bodies are their job. I mean, I'd still go off site for my yearly, but if my ACL is wonky and my nutrition needs a boost I'd be thrilled to have professionals at the top of their game. Except that carbonation causes cellulite person.

It is, but honestly, if you keep a pretty clean diet the majority of the time, a few hundred calories of dessert won’t do much of anything but give you a belly ache. When I was 18 I was having a cookie for lunch and tater tots for dinner. Maybe most dancers keep a better diet than most teens, but I think back to Taylor’s grocery store run (season 6?) and think that’s probably a little closer to reality. As for cuts, I seriously hope it’s not Malena. She’s so, so pretty and this team is light on diversity. Or just light is probably right enough.

Great, now I want a pumpkin spice latte. #sobasic I don’t mind the VK dessert pic one bit. She’s cute in the photo, just smiling in it, not some random face first head dive into some pie. If she was cut for weight, having a treat then getting her shit together for next year seems about right.

I think VK looks super cute in both of those instagram posts. She's a little heavy on the makeup but honestly that's just standard procedure for a lot of Dallasites! Hopefully it's just a case of her needing to just get a little seasoning. A couple years of maturity never hurt anyone.

I get this, but sheesh, she should have shown up. Take the advice with a grain of salt but show up! VK might know more about nutrition than the average 18 year old, but probably not enough to disregard a job sanctioned professional. Even if they are using whackadoo science. As for Jinelle, she’s never been overweight, but I’m willing to bet she had some terrible years of being bullied for being so thin. (And I say this as someone on the flip side.) She’s probably someone who has to work hard to keep a figure aside from her bustline. I’ve heard from multiple sources that she’s one of the healthiest eaters on the squad, tons of fresh fruit and veggies always. Wouldn’t surprised me if she’d visited with a credible nutritionist in her younger days. I agree. Adding in tho...IIRC, she hadn’t made camp in prior years because of her weight. Last year they didn’t like her figure, but her dancing was strong. And they desperately needed strong dancers. This year, after a year of working with her strong personality (I’ve heard mixed reviews) they found dancers who were just as strong and had the preferred figure too. I think last year’s bottom tier girls tried out at the exact right time!

I used to do a lot of demographic research in my former job, so wanted to weigh in. IIRC, Houston is indeed more diverse than Dallas overall, but more pronounced was the spread of household income across minority groups. Houston has more affluent minority groups than Dallas (especially amongst black and Hispanic households,) which lends itself to the kind of money needed for 16+ years of dance classes and such. I would also love to see a more diverse squad that better represents the DFW metro as well as America, as they’re “America’s” team. I think about Joanne’s adorable Dad during her rookie year and how proud he was of his daughter. Reminds me of Alexandra too, who was prob kept in camp too long but just needed more technical training. I feel like they are so technical focused now, the days of someone like Nicole Hamilton are just past.

Better lighting than the last pic - glad to see so many familiar MTT faces. I think SDW is such a nice lady and seems to build a solid foundation for the ladies needing more pom and power experience. Their style seems to be best suited for getting the minor league experience ahead of hitting the majors! Some serious cuties in this group too, will be great to see how they do at auditions next year!
-
Do they still have alternates? Could be that Lexie is one, or maybe she couldn’t commit to SG for life reasons but said she’s happy to be on standby. Not completely out of the norm for a non show group vet to help in that way.
-
Pre-season...usually starters are on the field for about five minutes before letting the rookies and backups show what they’ve got!
-
It was such a let down! They should have gone between Paris, Madi and Erin. That would have been much better suspense, tho based on what we were shown, I probably would have picked Madi. Daphne was such a shoo in. Didn’t they do that last year with Kalyssa? I could be remembering wrong. Or maybe it was the TC announcement. For heavens sake, CMT...give me a nail biter!
-
You’re the best!! This made me laugh out loud. Lord have mercy, thank you so much. I was beginning to think no one would share the dang info. Five rookies? I’m trying to remember how many they’ve had in years past, since that seems like a lot. Talented group this year tho! I can’t believe I missed so much today. Work was a pill so I had pie for dinner while catching up...thanks everyone! ☕️?? Has to be a record for Pink highlighted comments for sure ?
-
Y’ALL!! I’m not crying! I’m NOT! But whatever, I so am. Judy cried so it’s clearly okay. Jinelle is just ??
-
All these comparisons to Kaitlin LeGrande...yikes! Girl was an excellent dancer, clearly, since she made Show group rookie year, but such a mess her second! I mean, the lies, lateness, drug arrest later, etc. Tara being cut late in the season is not the same. At least I hope!! She’s always seemed so down to earth and lovely. Hoping it’s a personal life thing and not an actual cut for cause.
-
IIRC, Holly made it to Vegas but was cut. A couple of the other gals also tried out with similar results. Tasha, maybe? My brain is rusty this morning Curious if Holly tried again how she would do. A few years of experience can make a huge difference.

Well, she wants to go to a pet store so she's clearly awful. Seriously though, he's dumber than a box of hair. And his apology just wasn't there. It's like they both hinted at all the right things and just couldn't get there. What I wanted to hear - "I was an idiot who acted before I got the facts behind the issue, and I've taken a lot of time to think about how that kind of behaviour hurts and doesn't move us forward. I'm lucky that Becca is patient with me as I look beyond my own world view and general bro bullshit." But I'm asking way too much, I know.
