  1. On a lighter note, my momma and I went to the Radio City Music Hall Christmas spectacular on Friday night, and it was indeed spectacular! Jacie (and all of the dancers) did a fantastic job. The show was just so much fun, and definitely way more than just the kick line they’re famous for doing. Tons of jazz, ballet, etc. My mom was tickled at how tickled I was to see Jacie perform. I wish she had been the Rockette used for photo ops and I would have happily paid the fee She looked stunning and was very easy to spot, as there were only two darker skinned ladies in the lineup. Which led to the same conversation with my mom that we’ve had here about privledge, representation, the money required to dance at elite levels, etc. Rockettes don’t get paid nearly enough, though certainly more than the DCC 😉 Can’t imagine paying NYC rent year round, and since being a rockette is seasonal I’m so curious what other jobs they normally pick up off season. Most dancers seem to target ten seasons.
  2. I do think jessika is very pretty in a more classic and approachable way than say Lexi, who has that blonde bombshell going on. Jessika always looks better in pictures compared to the snips we’ve seen on the show, IMO. I think that’s how she ended up in the calendar first time out. I can’t remember seeing her on the screen at the games I’ve attended, but I imagine much the same.
  3. I’m pretty neutral on Maddie for the most part, but snickered when I read your post. You said she looked awesome, but you can’t see her face. I know that’s not what you meant, but thanks for the chuckle! For what it’s worth, I think Maddie looks fine but also like she’s gained weight, so I can see how that’s an issue. I still think the trick is to come in at five pounds over your leanest so you’ve got some wiggle room.
  4. Lauren made show group her rookie year, yes? So I don’t think she should be outdanced by any other potential point, other than maybe Gina. Who also made show group rookie year IIRC. I feel like Lauren gets dinged a bit for her look, tho I think she has a gorgeous face. Kelli doesn’t always seem to be a fan of six pack abs versus just toned abs. I find her pretty enough to offset a harder overall look that Stephanie and Kelly Q had/have going on, but who knows?
  5. I think the difference comes in HOW one expresses their opinions. I have a well balanced group of friends in their political beliefs, but none of them retweet or share opinions of others that haven’t been researched and vetted. It’s not so much the value set that’s the issue for me, but more how it’s shared. It’s one of the things I most dislike about social media...false information is easily shared and if it’s done in a professional enough font, it’s accepted as fact. Rachel can have conservative views and choose not to believe testimony given, and give support to someone she found credible, but sharing false information about the testimony was troubling to me. Considering she’s a public figure through her title and DCC position, I’m surprised she isn’t more cautious about this balance. Long story short... @LaurenBrook you’ll be well missed if you leave this forum, and I would hope a political difference of opinion isn’t that driver. You seem to be the sort that leads by example, and your graciousness and manners would be missed.
  6. Same! They both seem so warm and lovely. Cianna and Hannah too. Not sure why so many of this year’s rookie class seems more down to earth than in years past, but I like it!
  7. Social media really can tell a lot about someone’s character and value set. Someone who might appear gracious in most circumstances can show their true colors through a careless retweet or “like.” It’s one thing to have a thoughtful discussion in person, but many forget their manners online. I like to think some are just naive instead of ignorant, but usually find it best to steer clear entirely. I would imagine any high profile person (or whatever a DCC would be) would want to avoid those controversial subjects for their public face. Three times in the past week I’ve looked at social media for a prospective employer, date, new friend and decided to avoid the situation completely based on what I saw. When someone tells you who they are, best to believe them.
  8. Picking three is really tough! I’m going to give Tess some love, Lauren and Tasha. But I really like Heather, Kashara and Lacey as DCC too. Plus Gina has grown on me like a weed.
  9. If VK comes back next year, maybe she’ll get the ghost edit of Erin, Brennan and Madeline this season. Normally the comeback girls are shoved down our throats...but nope! Not this year. Miracles could happen ?
  10. You are not even kidding. It’s been positively sloshy and gloomy. Too much rain!! I left Dallas for KC last year but was back in town over the weekend for a wedding...should have brought an ark.
  11. I loved her dress, but those earrings ? Agreed that the dress would have been perfect at most Dallas luncheons I’ve attended, and that includes Junior League events, various fundraisers, brunch at the Zodiac downtown, etc. The color is bright but not inappropriate. LMAO. When I was in NY for fashion week I always loved those showrooms to brighten things up...those and Kate Spade and Alice & Olivia. Not at New Yorkers are dark and dreary, but color does seem to be more of an accessory.
  12. I feel like there are some stragglers in camp every year and it really doesn’t bug me. It’s a paid dance job and excellent experience for those who are green. Exceptions being: 1 - The candidate has a career and QUITS even though it’s clear to everyone they aren’t going to get there in time. Malena, this is you. Given her history, I’m shocked Kelli didn’t give her the mercy cut early. 2 - The candidate causes excess drama and angst amongst vets and TCC alike. Taylor and Victoria fit in here. They’re young and have the time freedom for camp, and if they had solid personalities, great! Keep them in camp to soak up the experience. Brianna immediately comes to mind here. But once they’re poison, let them go. 3 - If they’re fun dancers but not the right style, make sure they’re cut in time for other opportunities. There have been a handful of gals in camp that would be excellent NBA dancers but weren’t catching the DCC style...I always want for them to be free in time for Mavs. Or AAIA (Ice Angels) since they seem to be a solid “minor league” option for those who are almost there for the DCC but need experience.
  13. Maybe I’ve lived in Dallas too long, but I think Tina looks her age and just fine, if a little like every other Southlake/Plano momma. Shoot, MY momma. She seems like a pretty, vibrant lady who says some of the same off top of her head foolishness out loud like the rest of us. She’s human. And if I’m laying out some honesty, I didn’t think Chandler was camera ready either. Maybe grandma was referencing her face, maybe her kicks, but either way...if good dancers with plain looks can’t get glammed up after makeovers, let them fly.
  14. I was at the game yesterday and this is so true! I had to giggle at Earl taking his bow as well. So curious how how contract will shake out and if he does get traded to Dallas or KC. I think KC would be a better but personally (if he leaves Seattle) but don’t see him getting along we’ll with Jerry. But we’ll see. I went with a dear Dallas friend who lives in Seattle now (she rocked a Witten Jersey and some fabulous boots!) The Seagals were super fun to watch...I really do think they’re one of the best squads out there. There were also a ton of Cowboys fans, more than I’ve noticed for any other Seahawks home game. Could be because the colors blend, but still. Definitely America’s team! We chatted with a lot of peeps who had a story about growing up military and a DCC or player visit on a USO tour touched their heart, another guy who went to see training camp as a kid and had a good experience, etc. And a few visitors from Dallas too ?? I’m a bigger Hawks fan than Cowboys fan so had a blast. And a bit of a sunburn...full sun the entire game, it was bananas. Not sure I picked the right two Seahawks games to attend this season since I had to miss the Chiefs home opener, but excited to come back in December against the Niners.
  15. I wish we had seen more of the nutrition consult, because she seemed like she was full of good info. That said, losing 11 pounds in a few weeks in a healthy way isn’t impossible with some meal prep and dedication. 1500 calories (give or take) of protein, veggies and some fruit isn’t that damn difficult if your goal is to trim down in a healthy way. Cut alcohol and sugar for a few weeks and like magic VK’s belly bloat would go down, even if she does have a thyroid issue. I know there are some exceptions to this, but in general, the food you put in your body greatly impacts performance and health. If you have a dream to wear a skimpy uniform on a large public stage, take care of your body. VK is young, and so are some of the vets who clearly are on WW, but these goals aren’t out of reach for any of them. And frankly I don’t think it’s too much to ask of an athlete. These women have been dancing most of their lives, so I doubt sound nutrition is unfamiliar. And if it is, ask for help or google it. Disclaimer: I’ve struggled with weight and thyroid issues my entire life and have enough knowledge to fill ten textbooks it seems. That said, I don’t have the same motivation these ladies do!
  16. I’ve always been entertained by the amount of Calvin Harris that gets used on the show through the years...iTunes gets plenty of my cash too!
  17. Looks like all make up to me too! Eyebrows could be micro bladed? Lacey’s gorgeous and seems more polished overall. I’m befuddled about these rookie cameos tho, sheesh.
  18. I was at that KC Eagles game...y’all’s QB was adorable and the fans were obsessed! So many wearing his jersey or his college jersey. One guy said he loved him but hated the Eagles so he had to keep wearing his college gear ? The fans around me were super nice too, which was great. Tho most are at Arrowhead...generally it’s just the Raiders games that get frisky. Broncos to a lesser extent. One of my first games at AT&T was also an Eagles game...my dad scored suite tickets during playoffs and I swear I couldn’t take my eyes off the big screen. And you bet your ass I was there for the DCC pregame ??
  19. Preseason, which is part of the emptiness. But even during a regular season game you’ll have a bunch of open seats before kickoff. People gotta finish tailgating and enjoying their cheap beer ? It’s gotten better, but so many of the Cowboys tickets are corporate owned. You get a lot of casual fans in the stadium as well as away team, more than I’ve see at other pro stadiums. AT&T is a gorgeous stadium but the ticket buy in really priced out a lot of hardcore fans. Take what I say with a grain of salt, though, because most NFL games I’ve attended are at Arrowhead and The Clink, the two loudest stadiums in the NFL. And I didn’t attend any Cowboys games this past season since I moved to KC and bought season tickets. Headed to Seattle for the Seahawks/Cowboys on the 23rd tho, can’t wait!!!
  20. There’s a cinnamon vanilla candle from Anthropologie that makes me so happy. They went on sale once and I stocked up...probably have a two years supply ??
  21. I just spent a week in Vegas, mostly for work, but I’ve been several times. What do you like to do? I’m not much of a gambler, but love exploring restaurants and relaxing (and people watching) at the pool. And the shows are great too! We went to Absinthe this past time, which was a little too short but super fun. What kind of food do you like and I’ll pony up some recs ? @scorpio1031
  22. A long weekend in New Orleans has done that for me... the real struggles of salt and booze bloat ?? In real life though, maybe a boomerang after a juice fast?
  23. I really liked that they took the vets for the calendar shoot AFTER auditions. Double incentive to be in fantastic shape during auditions and not get cut for weight issues. And less awkwardness later when you've got women who have quit/dropped/lawsuits in the active calendar. Apparently a couple of months can make a huge difference! I'll admit I had a close eye on Kashara this episode, and thought her figure looked great. Maybe a bikini is just more flattering than white shorts.
  24. Sorry friends, thought I was in the episode 4 thread!
  25. Cheaper than Equinox and convenient for people who live up north...but yeah, that's definitely expensive. I enjoy a posh workout experience as much as the next person, but the perks have to make it worthwhile.
