  1. What made me chuckle the most about Ika was at the hair salon, and she's like can you believe I've never had my hair professionally cut? Kelli and the stylist (not Rainier I don't think): Yes. We believe it. I kind of get where Kelly was coming from on the girl last night comment, though she certainly should have phrased it differently. Ika needed some makeup help...her eyeliner and mascara seemed to look the way mine does in the morning if I'm lazy and don't wash my face before bed. Hence the girl from last night. lol. She does like the rough around the edges girls and trying to class them up a bit, doesn't she? Jackie O books for errrrrbody! Ika, Carissa, Brandy K., etc. Must be the east Texas girl gone bougie in her! I think her heart is in the right place, but the execution and lack of tact not so much.
  2. I legit thought Kalyssa would stick around a couple seasons before heading to The Bachelor or other influencer opportunities. Things for sure took a turn with that one! Alexandria one and done for sure, so disappointed she bailed so quickly tho. I was watching that season on Pluto and was like how did they cut anyone? So many good rookies that year. Would have kept Taryn and Brennan over Christina tho. All day and twice on Tuesday.
  3. I tell myself this every time I see my student loan payment go out the door. SMU was a top ten business school (for an MBA, anyway) when I attended...hasn't been fun to see UTD (in my old backyard) surpass it at 20% of the price! Bless Milan's heart anyway.
  4. I think Holly's career isn't taking off quite as quickly as she'd hoped, and she's looking for another opportunity. This reality show might lead to other opportunities, plus she's probably somewhat monetized on her social media. Influencers can bring in some solid cash, and reality show starlets can capture quite a followers. Fascinating to me how much some of the Bachelor Nation peeps make. She's not my favorite personality wise, but she's certainly got talent. Trouble is, LOTS of awesome dancers out there. Hopefully she's hustling enough to support herself. There are a lot of "working actors" that make a decent paycheck that aren't household names. Curious if Holly has achieved the equivalent of that in the dance world. I would think that would require a regular spot on tv, a tour, etc.
  5. Flippy flop Amy and heather and I would be okay with this one too. Why Amy (and Maddie) aren’t getting the Jinelle treatment is beyond my comprehension. I get that Maddie is a fan favorite, but she lacks sparkle and is constantly on weight watch. Amy is a solid soldier but timing is often off and she’s cute. Put her in Jinelle’s old spot or where Lexi or Ashlee are in the graph above to help her with timing.
  6. Legit getting Sandy from the end of “Grease” vibes from that outfit, except Julia wore the back of her corset open to the front 😂 At first I was thinking Halloween parties started earlier than usual this year, but now I’m just hoping it’s a cuter outfit than appears. Dang it I’m old! I will say I almost always hate anything that laces up in front, including Kelli’s Michael Kors dress and the lace up micro shorts they wear in the hip hop routine.
  7. A good answer could be revolving around a DCC's lifetime love of dance, IE: "I've been dancing since I was a small child, and I'm thankful that the DCC allows me to continue this personal passion while also giving me opportunities to be heavily involved with the community. For me personally, performing for a crowd no matter how big (AT&T Statdium!) takes a lot of self confidence, and showcasing that strength can feel very empowering." I really do think it's about that for most of the DCC, and the cat-calling, etc. from goobers around them is just an unfortunate by product. Honestly, that can happen anywhere while wearing anything, including dirty sweat pants and a ball cap. But the kids camps, USO meet and greets, the thrill of performing, etc...that's legit to me. Some DCC have the talent and desire to achieve bigger things in their dance career, like Jacie, but I think others view it as a hobby and they love being able to continue on for a bit.
  8. The first time I did Whole 30, I lost a bit of weight but insane inches...it's amazing how bloating some foods can be. For me, grains and dairy are big old belly puffers. Beer? Can't do it. So instead of having some insane nutritionist telling them they're getting cellulite from diet soda, they should have a registered dietitian walk them through elimination diets to see if they can pinpoint trigger foods. Talk about what a plate full of 500 calories of veggies/fruit/lean protein looks like vs. 500 calories of a big glass of wine and a protein bar, etc. These gals don't make pro athlete money, of course, but it's not uncommon for pro athletes to eat one way during the season and a wholly different way off season. Not all of them, of course, but sometimes you need to be at peak form and sometimes you can go on a weekend brewery tour.
  9. Good nutrition can be very challenging in light of the many delicious items out there, but if my job depended on it, I don't think following a paleo style diet and minimizing my booze intake is that freaking awful. Starving oneself? No. But following a 1500-1800 calorie a day diet full of protein, healthy fats, fruits and veggies is an achievable goal for most of us IF WE WANT IT. And if you've got more money than time, Snap Kitchen (and My Fit Foods before Snap basically killed them) is a big help. Eating disorders are very serious business, and I know many women engage in disordered eating...I'm no different. But in today's world, it's easier than every to not eat like a trash can. She called them out on their shit, and some were adults and took steps to fix it and other whined to the camera. Chelsea is the worst.
  10. Agreed! And bonus...so many of the lesser endowed girls have those "glutes that salute!" tm Jay. Grass is always greener, I know, but still. These ladies are all so strong and fit. Some will have a little more, some have a little less.
  11. I just lost half of my brain cells. What on earth did I just read??
  12. I'm not disagreeing with the greater point that you're making here, but wanted to point out that West Jordan, UT is a suburb of SLC with a population of over 100k people. She's not exactly small town girl, though I don't doubt that she's been somewhat sheltered because of her faith. Even that has some context within Utah, though, since 62% of Utahans are Mormon (thanks Google!) ETA: tattling on myself...Maddie is from Farr West, UT. Less than an hour from SLC but wouldn’t likely be considered a suburb. It’s part of the Ogden metro area, which is almost 600k people. Leaving my original post tho since it’s interesting data if you’re into that sort of thing.
  13. I always figured one of the reasons Melissa was so highly regarded was because of her brains, approachability AND her dance ability. Both her and Amy Trader impressed me with how well rounded they both were. I don’t have many issues with VK, but it’s really an apples and oranges comparison. VK could be incredibly intelligent, but the show hasn’t shown us any focus on her brains.
  14. Oh, those comments... Looks like hot mess potential, so count me in! It's funny, I don't watch RH or any other personality based reality shows (unless there's a personal connection to The Bachelor, then maybe I'll tune in for a bit) but you add some dancing and apparently I'm all for it.
  15. Small chain! The Frisco location is a newer one tho. Was the first salon the one off Forest Lane in Dallas? I was SO PSYCHED when they opened the Trader Joe’s in that area and I think that was the location they used when they first started the partnership. (For reference, I’m talking about the southern most location. The one at The Star is middle top, north of Carrollton.)
  16. For real. Marshall seems pretty good-natured in general and pretty tickled by the whole thing. He’s extra in all the best ways! (And a big heart with those foster babies, which IIRC was why he went private for a while.) I type this while watching RuPaul on Pluto at my Dallas besties’ house with three bears tho, so my happiness with flamboyance is pretty solid.
  17. Maybe I’ve worked in the fashion industry too long, but A LOT of merchandise gets destroyed to protect a brand. It’s wasteful, yes, but part of the cost of doing business. I would still say it has less of an overall impact than fast, disposable fashion though.
  18. Well, good thing Lisa is an excellent dancer then. Very powerful and smart to boot. Super sucks Julia didn’t make it bc of behind the scenes drama, but at least Lisa is talented. Because there are some hot messes on the dance floor AND locker room this season.
  19. Such a strong training camp with Melissa, Mary, Erica, Lacey, Thut Megan...and then there’s Christina, Ashley Pro and Breelan. Goodness. Hannah came across smirky and off during the final round and intros. Hindsight is for sure 20/20 on these older episodes!
  20. Poor Ashley Paige. So pretty, so sweet, SO MUCH STRONGER THAN MORGAN.
  21. With Alexandra and Auto Amy, maybe even with Christina and Brennan to a lesser degree...she likes to pull into camp the women that show perseverance year over year, particularly if the CMT cameras have picked it up. Maybe she initially picks them up for a good story and easy cut, and then she gets surprised in camp and keeps them on the team. I don't think she had any intention of Amy to be on the team, but it was definitely a good story. All four of these women got a lot of positive buzz on social media, so I wonder what that's worth. Of the four, only Brennan made sense IMO to make (and stay) on the team, but Christina apparently has some magic fairy dusty that the edit hasn't gotten through to me 🙂 If I don't put my cynical hat on, Kelli might think she's giving some of these gals a gift of the DCC experience, if only for a week or two. Though honestly, I can't figure her out. Watching old seasons on Pluto just points out more and more how inconsistent TPTB really are!
  22. Yeah, this episode really needed a talking head of Kelli saying, "Jalyn is a good team member and a solid dancer, but after a spending a year with her, thought other TCC/Vets were more engaging and a better fit for some of the upcoming Show Group events" blahblahblah. Kelli is terrible at PR. I would have bought that Jalyn didn't have a sparkling personality or a special WOW factor coming out of her mouth more than what we got. I think Jalyn is very pretty and an excellent dancer, but I also get where her appearance isn't everyone's cup of tea. But again, SELL IT KELLI. Sheesh. The whole episode was choppy and weird, and I thought it displayed Amy in a poor light dance wise. I thought they would at least sell us on her amazing-ness before dropping the triangle bomb. Several clips they've shown of her have shown her to be off count, making mistakes, etc.
  23. I would suspect a DCC who didn't need to work could adequately fill her time with Junior League or other volunteer work and Kelli wouldn't bat an eye. (I'm a Dallas junior league drop out and dear Lord that could have been more than a full time job if I had let it.) I think the main goal is that they have SOMETHING going regularly outside of DCC, if only for a conversation point on ambassador duty. Saying that you also volunteer 20 hours a week for Dallas Animal Shelter is a perfectly respectable answer IMO. For most people, their outside of DCC life would be a job and/or school, but some might be done with college and not want to hold down a full time job. I personally take no issue with that. I'm about as career minded as they come, a strong feminist and I'll never have children of my own...but I fully support any woman who wants to be a full time, stay at home mom. I am all for women being able to make the choices that are best for themselves, and being paid fairly and equally when they do so. My only concern is how they would sustain themselves if their partner is no longer able to provide, be it through divorce, injury, death, etc. So if Cassie, VK or any other DCC's main ambition is to milk being a DCC as long as they can, model on Instagram, teach dance part time, try to work within the organization when their time is up, meet the man (or woman!) of their dreams, then have some adorable children, etc....super for them. I just hope that they are professional and mature during their tenure. Mixed reviews on that front, but conceptually? A-okay!
  24. We have mixed reviews about Maddie here, but the FB posters seem to love her to the point of obsession. The Facebook comments are always so interesting to me, when they aren’t dirty creepers. Spent the weekend with my mom, who loves that I follow these boards and always asks me for the gossip. She’s a casual viewer who danced for 15++ years and thinks VK is fabulous. (I personally like VK’s looks and dance style just fine but think she shouldn’t have made SG.) She also loved Kat “even though she doesn’t quite get it yet. Please tell me she made the team! And did she find a good place to live??” I had to fill her in on why I was so mad about Jalyn and now she’s mad too. 😂😂😂
  25. I don’t see any way that Maddie doesn’t stay all five years. I think she deserves Jinelle’s old spot (and that Jinelle deserved much better) but heaven knows the ladies in leadership are showing their blindness this year. And why is Rycroft so obsessed with her?? Plus, Amy is so off in everything I see her in now...my eye goes straight to her. Anyone else for point(s) please!
