  1. I really liked this episode, which is awesome since I was afraid it would be terrible. Angie did a great job, acting in pain while still comforting the girl and maintaining some of Jane's signature bravado. I also really liked Maura and her new man. And the baseball bit with Angela wasn't nearly as annoying as some of her scenes.
  2. It's definitely lots of fun, but it can be a drag, too. I mean, have you met theater people? Talk about drama! (Ha, pun totally intended, but totally true anyway.) And there is a lot of tedium. I HATE making multiples of the same piece. I like desigining. The actual sewing is BORING. And then there are the boring fitting details like placing darts, adjusting hems. People change shape on a nearly constant basis. It's exhausting. Maybe they just gave up with the fitting for Nathan.
  3. Why so negative about the blooper reel? I thought it was cute. They don't "owe" us anything. We should be grateful someone took the time to do anything. ETA "about the blooper reel" since it wasn't clear what I was talking about.
  4. Yeah, I figured you would want me to chime in. Although I work in live theater, the same stuff applies for screen work. It seriously bugs when you know how EASY it is to pay attention to little details. I carefully consider the color of every piece- is it a color the character would wear? Does it compliment the actor/actress? Does it coordinate with what others are wearing and with the set? Does it reflect the mood of the scene(s)? Then there is print/texture to consider, and weight (both weather appropriate and some fabrics are literally HEAVY), and fabric durability. Would this character wear something as fragile as silk or as rugged as corduroy? And then we focus on the cut/silhouette. When a character is active, the cut has to allow for movement, but you don't have to go baggy for that to happen! You have to make sure hems on sleeves and pants land exactly where you want them and won't ride up or drag. We also focus on collars (which, by the way, ought to be well pressed) and lapels, cuffs, and other bits of design frippery that help set the correct time and location for the scene. Followed by carefully making sure the fit is spot on. Then of course footwear. We won't even go there with Castle! Sometimes the footwear is the most expensive part of a costume, because it has to fit the character, the actor/actress, the costume, and the scene. They have to fit comfortably and allow movement without risk of falling. I guess with TV you can edit around twisting ankles or mis-steps, but the shoes should still fit the character and scene. As in, who wears heels to a crime scene?
  5. I'm a costume designer, and like Samantha said, it can be REALLY distracting when they are just not right. I try to not think about it, but Castle sure makes it hard. I can dress my own children better than some of the outfits on this show! I love when costumes inform the viewer, and add subtle layers of meaning. On Castle, all they do is make me go "huh?"
  6. I don't usually have time for fanfiction, but I've seen you post about Tokens of Good Will, so I started reading it today. Pretty great premise! I'll probably waste too much time reading, and I can't wait. :-)
  7. So they did catch him? I'm so going to have to watch it again...
  8. I'm not sure- someone from the IRA who was part of the bombing that he was trying to confess?
  9. Just occurred to me that part of Angela's sudden need to be a strong independent woman could have been due to her conversation about Jane's walls, when she realized how hard Jane was trying not to be dependent on a man.
  10. Nice, Medieval Girl. Did you make your costume? It is awesome. How did you post a photo?
  11. Keltic writings? Did I miss something?
  12. That's awesome that you could do that Dani-Ellie. And awesome that your sister loved it. Very few people knew who my kids and I were. My costume was also hobbled together because at the last minute they wanted me to play along. Since I make costumes, I had a large supply of things to pull from. I had a leather corset, and a long piece of stretchy gray fabric that I turned into a wrap skirt and prayed it wouldn't fall off. I took a rectangle of black velvet and added a clasp to the top corners and made my self an instant cape. I had a black turban leftover from a play so I hid my light hair up in that and added a lot of heavy make-up. Instant Evil Queen. My daughter's costume was a red jacket (we didn't have a leather one yet at that point), skinny jeans, brown leather boots, a long blond wig, and a sheriff's badge. Captain Hook didn't have the leather jacket, but I made him a big blousy black shirt with the ties in the front and at the ends of the sleeves to hide the end of his hook, as well as lots of eye make-up, painted on stubble, and of course some jewelery, including a clip-on earring. My son was surprisingly excited about make-up and jewelery. The little one had a blue plaid button up shirt with jeans, a black wool jacket, a striped scarf, a green backpack, and the Once Upon a Time book, which Emma carried most of the time. Snow White was her bandit self, and her costume was my favorite. I took an adult cream blouse, and added fabric ties to the sleeves. A faux-fur vest with a thick brown stretch belt with a giant leather clasp covered most of it. She wore skinny khakis, and knee-high camel colored leather boots. I made her a floor-length hooded cape, and she wore a long dark wig. She also had a wooden bow with a fabric quiver full of arrows. (I made the quiver from rolled up cardboard covered in fabric.) I know some people go super crazy trying to be exactly like the characters on TV (some of hte Comic-Con costumes are amazing!) but we just went with a similar look. Anyone that knew the show knew who we were, and if you didn't know the show, it didn't matter.
  13. My 10 year old daughter and I are admittedly obsessed. See my avatar pic? That's my daughter as Emma Swan. For Halloween last year, she was Emma Swan, my son was Captain Hook (before they were dating, that would have been weird) and my littlest one was Henry. My daughter's best friend was Ella, with Alexandra. And my little sister was Snow White. I was the Evil Queen. For my daughter's birthday, we made a 24 minute Once Upon a Time episode and had a red carpet showing with autograph signing and everything. (I'm a videographer) In my entire life, I have never seen this level of obsession with a show. This year, my mom found a red leather jacket for my daughter. She's bummed it is summer and she can't wear it yet. I have recorded and saved every single episode, which we have watched all of them more than once. Even my boys (ages 4 and 8) love it. It's deinitely weird how much we love it. Oh, and I actually wrote fanfiction for this show!
  14. There is no way no one would have found out Beckett was married when she joined the Police Academy. Or the FBI.
  15. Just last night I was thinking about this- my current four must-see shows are Castle (obviously), NCIS:LA, Rizzoli and Isles, and Once Upon a Time. All four of them feature sexy as hell powerful women. I think I really like that!
  16. I loved Suzie in this episode! This was a super great episode, even if I figured out who killed her almost immediately.
  17. Totally random thought I had... What if Marian was lying about helping Snow? Why did her family think she was already dead? Would Snow recognize Marian in the here and now? If what she told Emma was true, Snow White should recognize her, right? What if she doesn't and Emma thinks there is something fishy and no one believes her (like the whole Tamara debacle).
  18. And I most definitely have not forgotten TJ. But Angela was still harping Jane about babies at Tommy's engagement party...
  19. What? I don't have any idea what spoiler you are referring to...
  20. I agree that it was super weird that Angela told Jane to take Folic Acid since she would have been doing that already. I also thought it was weird that in the first episode of the season, Maura tells Jane not to drink coffee but she drinks the coffee Korsak gives her before he knows to give her decaf. And if Maura was just telling her not to drink coffee, it must be, what, the day after the finale? And yet Frankie's lip was healed and Tommy was in AA. So timewise, where are we in Jane's pregnancy? Like so many have said, I'm not sure a baby would work in this show, but I'm willing to give it a try. It can't be worse than Angela's current behavior. But, even that, I sort of understand. Jane does NOT take care of herself. Olives and ketchup for dinner? Angela has wanted Jane to give her a grandkid, and like someone said, she's high risk, especially with her job. She's trying to whack Jane across the head with a 2x4 and tell her to wake up and take this seriously. Although, that said, it was creepy that she wants to be Jane's midwife. Eww.
  21. I had to pause the DVR I was laughing so hard when Talia and Kensi were both puffing their chests, unbuttoning their shirts, and showing off their boobs in a hysterical silent cock fight.
  22. Aaak- I did not expect that no good rogue agent to get under Deeks skin like that! I was kind of confused by the "conversation" at the end- Deeks gave back the knife, meaning "Let's keep it professional", right? But then she opened the box- meaning she was exposing a part of herself? But then it was just another box. Why did that make them smile? I am literally so very confused. And then Granger speculated that this would be the end of Kensi/Deeks partnership, and Hetty said it was just the beginning. So does that mean Hetty thinks they will end up together? Or just that they will continue to be great work partners? I know they are trying to keep it suspensful for the drama and everything, but sometimes the lack of actual words makes it hard understand...
  23. I thought about how Baby Emma should have had magic, but then I realized she was in a world without magic. And even in this world, without magic, she still did magic in moments of high emotion (as evidenced in Henry's birth scene... watch the lights). As for not being adopted? She was "off the market" for the first 3 and a half years of her life, which is when most blond blue-eyed girls get adopted. After age three, adoption rates go way down, and Emma was quite likely an angry little stinker if she kept getting sent back. I've met three year old foster kids that I just couldn't handle.
