Hate is a strong word. I like Stephanie/AJ too. Yes, AJ kind of reminds me of the guy who "turns into his dad" on those commercials... but so what? They seem happy with each other, and that's what really matters. -

I take away one more thing, based on comparison between the way he looked when/right after he married Kate, and the way he looked in the "Unfiltereds": It appears that Luke is one of the few (supposedly "straight") men out there who use hair extensions. ...And I only say that because, if it's a rug, it's a very expensive one. -

I understand. But smoking isn't a "deal breaker" for everyone, and (just going by the short discussion we saw on TV) it wasn't a really big deal for Luke, either. I'm pretty sure that, if Luke had gone directly to the producers and told them Kate had lied about being a smoker and he did *not* want to be with a smoker, and thrown a big fit about it --Luke would have been offered a "get out of this marriage free" card. [They probably would have treated it as if she had felony warrants out there for her arrest that she "forgot" to mention.] Instead, Luke smirked, apparently pleased to have something else he could criticize Kate for. Perhaps he's "saving" it for later, in case he wants to end the marriage and have everything be blamed on Kate... -

Sux. That's *way* worse than Shawniece and Jephte! Now I don't even want to watch the rest of the season... but I probably will, at least on TEVO [My bad. That's what I get for reading the title, getting PO'd, typing a couple of lines and walking away...!] -

Yes, and since these "couples" are just barely beginning to get to know each other (and still on their 'honeymoon') it's easy for me to see why some of them may feel very uncomfortable with "telling all" to international TV cameras about their sexual/romantic relationship! [Puke is the exception. Regardless of the subject, he always seems eager to talk about himself... while casting shade on Kate.] -

Good screening questions. I would add: not just politics, but religion. (And no, I *don't* think that all Republicans are hard-core Bible-thumpers or that all Democrats are either atheists or Islamic --so the politics question doesn't cover it.) Many divorces have resulted from religious differences, especially once kids are born into the mix and their parents have very different ideas about what they should be taught to believe (or not to believe). -

Yes, I'm sure we'll learn more details about that next week. For whatever it's worth, though, I'd be very annoyed at being asked to do "homework" during my honeymoon! Why can't they wait until the couples get home? -

If I were stuck in a nightmare "honeymoon" out of my home country with a jerk like Puke, I'd be "all kinds of subdued," too! For now, Kate is trapped --and I think she realizes that. She has to get back to USA soil before she can free herself of the creep. -

I'm pretty sure Jasmine was serious. At first, I thought Jasmine meant she wanted Will to be the one who manages their (combined) finances and makes sure all the bills get paid before any other expenditures. My hubby does this, because he's better at it than I am... and that works out just fine for us. But no, that's not what Jasmine wanted. She made that clear when Will said something like, "So... if I pay the mortgage, you'll pay the other bills?" and Jasmine said no, she wanted him to be the man of the house and pay the bills... -

Luke is uber-critical of just about everything Kate does (or doesn't do). Reminds me quite a bit of Amber and Dave last year... and that's not a good thing! (I mean, poor Kate isn't even getting kisses, much less "sex every night and sometimes in the morning"! ...lol) This obviously cannot possibly turn out well for Kate. She needs to leave as soon as she gets back to the USA, and tell MAFS where to put it!! -

I can think of a reason why Kate didn't want to shower that night. She had absolutely no reason to be "into" Luke, since he's such a douche --and showering involves taking off all your clothes, wrapping yourself up in just a towel, and then (usually) switching to night clothes. Kate might only have brought sexy nighties, since it was her "honeymoon"! I did notice, later on, that Kate was wearing "Granny nightpants". I wonder where they came from? They certainly didn't look like anything a woman would take along to Costa Rica with a man! -

OMG no!! Even if he's gay (and pretending to be straight because it's better for his 'business') Luke is absolutely a disgusting pig! And I admit, Kate's nervous giggling is a bit annoying ...but I would never wish a lifetime with Luke on her!! -

You may be right about that --although I don't like agreeing with Luke about anything! Luke's answer wouldn't have satisfied Jasmine, though. She obviously wanted a more detailed, more specific answer than that. And Will's "deer in the headlights" response really didn't make her feel secure! -

The jerk deserves it! Oh, and I get the impression Kate might actually consider herself a non-smoker, but one who occasionally "falls off the wagon" (--like when she realizes she's stuck at a beautiful honeymoon destination with a cad like Luke!!) -

I never would've pegged Jasmine as "the girl who expects her husband to be a "macho, macho man" that pays the bills for wifey and she keeps the house nice... What?! -

I'm confused. Is "stop" the word you mean? Or is it "girlfriend"? Whatever. Does anyone here think Kate will give up on Luke by the end of tonight's episode? (I wish I did, but I don't...) -

The problem is that it's an antisemitic stereotype to associate Jewish with narcissistic. I'm not saying that you (or anyone else here) were trying to make that association... But it's a stereotype that people can be very sensitive to. ...A false one, of course. I've known many Jewish people who are very loving and giving and are fabulous friends! -
S08.E03: Part 2+ Married at Second Sight
Crazy Bird Lady replied to humbleopinion's topic in Married At First Sight
I've thought that, but I'm not sure. [Can you be a classic narcissist and be a psychopath??] Luke's way of treating women (in general) reminds me of the way a doctor "puts on their professional persona" before entering an examining room. The persona is fake, but they've used it so many times, it's automatic. They grab that doorknob, and the "persona clicks on. From that moment until they leave the room, they are diagnosing and treating a subject-- not talking to a man or woman (or whatever). Patients are strictly off-limits for any romantic thoughts or feelings, during the exam and afterward. The secret of confidence and compassion with patients is giving the appearance of confidence and compassion at all times. I sincerely hope you're wrong about how this will play out. Kate is eager to be married and free of the 'dating scene' --but Luke is the dating scene!! I think Kate's nervous giggling is understandable under the circumstances, and certainly preferable to non-stop tears. I just hope that she will have the courage to stand up to both Luke & the 'experts,' and quit before she's completely beaten down emotionally.
