  1. IRL, Rep. Lawrence McDonald was on flight KAL007, the NASA administrator was not. The location of the shoot down was accurate, although there was never an indication of a secret Soviet base. And there were multiple failures on both sides that led to the result, but the failure of the Soviet military aircraft or aviation control to contact the civilian aircraft before firing and the failure of the Soviet pilots to properly identify that it was a jumbo passenger jet were seen as the most immediate causes of the attack. It’ll be interesting to see what the repercussions of the armed Marines being at Jamestown will have following the recapture of the mining site. And Danny. Per IMDB, the actor is a main cast member for season two, and I suspect he’ll continue to be around.
  2. Paramount Plus posted a video announcement when the service began that, in fact, production has begun for SNW in Toronto. There’s also been an announcement of five new cast members: https://deadline.com/2021/03/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-paramount-series-cast-production-begins-1234713092/
  3. Brendon is my MVP for the season.
  4. I’m quite happy with that outcome. Right order of finish as well.
  5. IIRC, IRL, this was being explored as a means to send larger and thus heavier payloads, including nuclear fuels, into space. The concern was the excessive heat being generated at launch. As to pollution, most rockets were using oxygen and hydrogen. The boosters themselves were not fueled by fissionable material.
  6. Something I noticed in the end credits at the end of this episode. One role cast was that of Sally Ride. Make what you will of that.
  7. The finale airs Sunday. This is the first non-US season I’ve ever watched in full. It’s been interesting. At first, I was cheering for the Cowboys because of the original Cowboys (the McCoy brothers). But I grew to like them even more because of their own merits, and Brendon in particular for his evenhandedness and never holding back from any of the tasks. But they’re my choice to win. They never quit and never get fazed when they were the back of the pack. And the last leg (episode/leg 23) was just perfect. So I guess we’ll see on Sunday!
  8. Word today is that Wallis Day has been cast as the new Kate Kane on Batwoman.
  9. Just rewatched both seasons. One that the CW has Krypton on the CW Seed app, maybe someone can suggest to the show runners to have Cameron Cuffe and maybe Shaun Sepos on an episode of Superman and Lois, as holograms or something so they can tie up the cliffhangers especially about Jor El (as his hologram is part of Superman and Lois) and give a nod to Krypton being part of the pre-Crisis Arrowverse as was intended.
  10. Regarding PTSD. It wasn’t recognized as a medical condition as such until the first Gulf War (Hoessein’s invasion of Kuwait), so in the AT of the show, one can presumably think it hadn’t be recognized as such either. So what Ed did with Gordo, to get him out of it, wasn’t out of line for the time.
  11. There was historically an Apollo-Soyuz joint mission in our reality, before the space shuttle and the international space station was ever launched.
  12. For All Mankind is not based on a preexisting source material, which may have something to do with it, although RDM and the EP have planned future seasons, and my guess is that the Naval Academy storyline is most likely related to that, just as the Margo storyline from season one had a payoff in this episode as well. The Expanse is based on a series of novels and novellas written by James S.A. Corey (actually two authors both of whom are involved as executive producers and Ty Frenck is involved in the writer’s room. So it has a more cohesive feel, recognizing that 95 percent of the material isn’t in the series. (Just as an aside, Ty and the actor who plays Amos launched a podcast with season five, but have now gone back to the beginning of The Expanse with weekly podcast posted on You Tube in the Ty and That Other Guy channel looking at not just the episodes but the behind the scenes and the sources that influenced both the books and the series. Really good listen!
  13. From Deadline.com Today: If you have an internet connection you can use the CW.com website or the free CW app (iOS and Google) to watch episodes. The episodes are available as of midnight local time a few hours after broadcast. For most people either option shouldn’t be a problem. That’s how I’ve been watching CW shows on my iPad since 2015 since the app went live as I can’t get over the air reception and I got rid of cable several years ago.
  14. I use my internet connection and the CW app on my iPad.The shows become available at midnight, so I’ll usually watch them then, before bedtime
  15. The Live plus three was a considerable improvement over live plus same day. Viewers up by 1 million, to 2.7 million, demo up .2 to .6. Of course with that improvement, Live plus seven days should be even better. One thing to keep in mind. Because of disputes with local stations and cable providers, many viewers can’t even watch CW programming live. While my local market is one, I’m not able to watch the CW live because my streaming service doesn’t include the CW. So I have no choice but to view CW shows on a delayed basis.
  16. TVLine reported today that filming season 2 was completed in mid-December 2020. Nothing about when it will air, but this coming summer certainly seems within reason.
  17. For those of you who may not have realized it, but in the TAR AUS leg in Coober Pedy, two of the exact locations used (the opal mine and the golf course) were used on TAR 2 US as both sides of the same detour during its Outback leg that season. There’s an irony in that.
  18. She’s been totally out since season two ended. Thank heavens!
  19. I think the Captain Luther thing, as is Clark and Lois having twin sons are the consequences of Crisis. But we’re getting the story of Clark as seen post crisis, and I assume Lois at well, but the ending of Crisis was sufficiently ambiguous that maybe Lois doesn’t know, just Clark. I expect we’ll be seeing more Crisis consequences as this season goes on. As best as I can tell and remember all the Superman films, or at least the Reeve/Route ones are canon in the Arrowverse. And it’s still possible the dearly departed Krypton series is canon as well. I recall they wanted Cameron Cuffe to do a cameo, but he wasn’t available then. Maybe that can get fixed at some point.
  20. They had originally planned the wedding for this past October in New Orleans, but postponed it to March 2021 due to COVID-19. All of their cast are invited just as they said on the Final Mat (filmed two years ago.)
  21. Because at the time, that’s what they were. They had already being backpacking to different places around the world together. IIRC, from what I’ve seen, they were living together as well. These days, they’d be described as “engaged.” According to something read elsewhere, Will and James were known as the "Backpacking Boyfriends" before the Race, so that might have something to do with it as well. And technically, these days they'd be described as "Married". Apparently they got hitched during the two-year shelving. They haven’t gotten married yet, just engaged. They changed the name of their YouTube and Instagram channels to reflect that, as well as revamp their website.
  22. Because at the time, that’s what they were. They had already being backpacking to different places around the world together. IIRC, from what I’ve seen, they were living together as well. These days, they’d be described as “engaged.” You can be sure they won’t forget to read the whole clue from here on out, killer fatigued or not.
  23. Yes he was. But their international backpack traveling experience, which is substantial and brings a remarkable skill set to the Race, makes them my favorites for this season.
  24. Lea Michele and her husband had a baby boy over the weekend.
  25. At its heart, Glee was always described as a comedy-drama-musical. It was a unique combination of all three, and has never been copied. It’s important to remember the timeframe of the series as production began in 2008 and it finished five and a half seasons in 2015. Morals change, perceptions change, values change. Many comedies from earlier decades are, to me, virtually unwatchable because of that. Look at what had to be done with Gone With The Wind, in spite of the fact it won multiple Oscars in 1939, but the portrayal of black characters are offensive to modern attitudes, and even though the movie was faithful to the original novel. So that’s something you have to learn to do as applying current sensibilities to television and film made in the past distorts things.
