  1. Kevin, you seem lovely but everyone knows you kill Anne with an E because the original was 100% perfect and needs no revival.
  2. While stuck in a hotel room last week, my husband flipped the TV to an extremely boring show. Thank you for identifying it for me as Bering Sea Gold!
  3. I was annoyed at Alex's realization at the end that they weren't cursed but blessed and that the last 5 years were a gift and she was happy about it. Just because they spent the majority of that 5 years apart. Wouldn't it make her sadder to realize how much of the gift they'd wasted?
  4. I just watched this on Netflix. I don't think I'll watch live on Showcase this fall, but I'll watch the 2nd season when Netflix drops it here. One thing I missed - when they were going over the things that have changed in the future: did they succeed in rerouting the asteroid? I assume yes. But there are still big problems in the future obviously and I don't understand what they are? The asteroid was suppose to be the catalyst that caused the famines and wars. If that didn't happen, why is the future still so screwed up?
  5. I really do like this show but didn't we get a whole arc with a stalker ghost just last season? It doesn't look interesting to me.
  6. I'm rereading the Handmaid's Tale right now because I am a sadist. (Read it by law as a high school kid in Canada.) Anyway, the newest edition (must be early 2017 or late late 2016 at the earliest) that I got from the library on my Kobo has a new foreword from Margaret Atwood. I'd highly recommend it. She basically says that it wasn't a prediction, but a hope to stop the possibility but looking at how the world is now, it's even more important. And she mentions that she is in the scene with the aunts on the show but she never mentions another scene. So I think it must not be her in the publishing house.
  7. When did it air in Canada? I never did see it I don't think and I don't remember seeing an ad for it. But, if it was on YTV, I can kind of see how I missed it. It's not like I'm regularly watching that channel so I probably missed it.
  8. The original (starring Megan Follows) was amazing and still holds up 100%. I think I have it on DVD somewhere and now I want to watch it again. I've loved Gilbert Blythe since I first saw him played by the lovely Jonathan Crombie (RIP). Are they casting younger now? Crombie was about 19 when original Anne aired. This guy looks much younger. Basically, what I'm saying is I don't see how this guy grows from the pest who gets the slate broken over his head into the hottie that rescues Anne from the river. Excuse me as I try to get out of the shallow end of the pool over a bunch of children. I'm going to try to get my young nieces to watch this and see how they like it. They'd be close to the age I was when the original came out. I love the original so much that I don't know if I can objectively judge this or not. But, they are piling up on my DVR right now so I guess I'll find out. Or, maybe I'll pull out the DVDs. God I loved those movies. Now, I'm nostalgic for weekends with my cousins where we stayed up late to watch both movies. And, then older us having a special grown up sleepover to watch "The Continuing Story".
  9. I have a question for any Canadian viewers: I've been watching Last Chance on FoodNetwork.ca and I saw the Silvia/Jim (?) competition (the state house chef). But then the video ended as they introduced James(?) (the guy who gave up immunity). And there was no video for Silvia/James. Did I miss it? Is it not there?
  10. You're right. But wasn't Andrew in on it too? I know Johnny was doing the majority of the taunting but wasn't he plotting it with Andrew? Not that it really matters. I'm probably not remembering it correctly and I can hate Andrew even if he wasn't involved with that. And still hate Johnny more...
  11. So, 7 episodes in and I just went to the "Meet the Chefs" section of the Fox website, because I still can't remember most of the guys names and it's hard to read the comments when you don't know who people are talking about. Paulie isn't even on the Meet the Chefs page. That's weird, right? Andrew is a douche. I hope his fiance dumped him. I also hope that he gets his ass handed to him by the women. I imagine he'll be around for a while longer, but he's the guy who's entire goal a few episodes ago was to make the girls cry. And, Matt looks like he is constantly suppressing a rage tantrum which makes him a little bit scary. It's hard to say how this is all going to pan out. I think that Devin is in a much better place now, since I don't think that he can be scapegoated by a majority anymore. It may make life a bit more difficult for Johnny who is the worst human on this show (and that's a tough race to win). And, I can get behind that.
  12. The disgusting bully behaviours of these so-called "men" proves how weak and insignificant they are. "Let's see who we can make cry" is below grade school behaviour and should frankly have them on the street. I hope that they are both fired from whatever their jobs are now. They are no better than the gross Frank that was publicly shamed into a public apology for similar anti-female behaviour.
  13. I actually think that Combat Hospital was supposed to be a post 9-11 MASH. But I think I'm the only person that liked it.
  14. I was mad at the end. On the one hand, I get it. They shouldn't have cleared the bench. But DJ Law was getting literally stomped to death by the other team and no one - not the refs, not the opposition coaches, no one - was doing anything to stop it. How could the league not see that?? I'd like to hear more about that decision. And about that one abstention in the decision. And I'm also confused about what was happening in the aftermath of the stomping. Was that a security officer threatening the coach with arrest? What actually was happening there? I feel like we got all this great background and build up and then at the end it was not at all satisfying the way it turned out. I get that this is real life and not a script, but what the hell happened? Oh, and also. What happened to the players and coaches on the other team? That group stomping effort should have permanently disqualified all involved and their coaches from ever playing in the league again. Life time ban.
  15. I'll start by saying that I adored this. I really loved it. But I think I'm dense. Can someone explain the Prestor John stuff to me? I know that it was mentioned in the scene with the Pope and someone asked in episode 6's thread about what happened to the missing Mongols on their way to Xanadu and it was suggested that Prestor John had something to do with that. Is he the leader of the army that Marco runs into and they flee from in episode 10? I feel dumb because it seems I missed a big deal plot point but I still liked this a lot and hope it gets a third season.
  16. I'm pretty sure because during the battle, he saw Marco let his father run away rather than be killed.
  17. I think that Chabi will take care of the Blue Princess. In the episode where she brought in the stable hand to screw her daughter in law, the daughter in law said, "the child won't have full royal blood." And Chabi said, "the child will have no royal blood." Which I think is meant to show that Chabi know she's not the real Blue Princess. I am also certain that was Ahmed's mom. When he was in the cave humming the song, he said his mom sang it to him and then the prostitute sang the same one and said she wrote it for her son. He killed her because he's bat shit crazy I think you explain that he said she died in his arms, because she actually did.
  18. I don't think that House Frey is really all that harmed. They've lost 3 members, sure, but aren't there like dozens of Freys of all ages?
  19. "These 13 chefs come from across Canada". Cue them introducing a Calgarian, a Vancouverite and everyone else from Toronto. They did eventually show someone from Montreal and Halifax, but if you're going to go on about special ingredients from every province and territory, make your cast more geographically diverse. That done, I love Jeremy and I'm glad he made it through. But, I like all of them, really. One more reason to prefer this to the US version - no one makes me want to punch their face every week.
  20. I'd have gone with Tatiana Maslany in any of the years that she was eligible, but that's mostly me taking her snubbing personally solely because she's from Regina.
  21. I have to give it up go Matthew for actually speaking the truth when asked about whether the winner should save himself. Of course they should!! Anyone who says or does differently is either lying or pretty dumb. April Lee.
  22. I've never been a big Mary lover, but I thoroughly liked her genuine joy at meeting Colonel Hatfield. I was a little sad to see Terry go but then when I tried to think of who if rather see go, I couldn't come up with anyone. Maybe Amber Lee. It's one of the reasons I love MC Canada more than the US version. I don't have anyone to hate on this one.
  23. Can someone please explain to me what actually happened there with Cary's testimony? I understand that he said Peter's name. But, I don't understand what it means. Did he say "Peter" on purpose because then it made it look like he had a grudge on Peter and it would tank his testimony? That's what I thought at first. But then the conversation in the hallway seemed to indicate that wasn't the case. But the conversation in the hall didn't make sense to me either because he did seem a bit bitter towards Alicia. And I'm so confused.
  24. I am going to start with the one thing that bugged me: some of these actors get mumbly and it can be difficult to understand them. Neil did a couple of sentences that I rewound 3 times and I still can't be sure he was speaking English. Episode was amazing though. During the firefight with the tank I turned to my husband and said, "Tom better not get his pretty face shot off." Oops. I will miss him. He was my favourite.
  25. I got through about 10 minutes of the first episode before turning it off. I want to like it though. So, I decided to come here and ask if the laugh track situation either gets better or if you just stop noticing it at some point. Because the laugh track had more lines than the 3 characters put together in that first scene and I just couldn't.
