  1. You need to complete your pre-med classes and MCATS within a certain number of years of when you apply to med school or you have to re-do them. It's not right away (my husband did research for a year) but it's not forever.
  2. Maybe having pro dance team experience will be a pro for K&J since they're losing so many senior vets. And being a pageant girl I bet she's poised and good with "yes ma'am" stuff, too.
  3. I'm always surprised they don't have more Latinas on the team just to reach those fans. There's even an NFL game in Mexico City next year, so it's obviously a market the NFL wants.
  4. Also not sure of Texas law, but it is the law in California that if you're taking employer-required transportation you're on the clock.
  5. What really gets me is that the mascots for professional sports teams make around $50,000 a year. I don't know how much of that is base versus what they get for appearances, but I highly doubt they pay for themselves. It's something the team does because it adds to the fan experience, like fireworks during a touchdown. Sure the DCC provide a revenue stream, but the Cowboys can certainly afford to dip into their profits to pay what that doesn't cover. They'd just rather not. And I would certainly hope the All Stars get paid! That Six Flags gig seemed like a total slog and I don't know why anyone would do that for free.
  6. I wonder about this too. Any time we've seen them perform as the show group it's always with their regular uniforms and poms, which makes sense because if I'm paying the DCC to perform I want them in their "iconic" uniforms.
  7. I think part of it is that it accentuates your hip movement. This old Selena Gomez video is a good example (the music is weird so it doesn't get taken down).
  8. When Whitney went I think there was video of Kelli making the announcement and saying that it was a lot of work because you need to learn several new routines to perform during the week and during the game.
  9. Could part of the objection to the big numbers be the skimpy outfits? It seems more like a family friendly focus rather than "let's entertain the boys!" now.
  10. It's really horrifying. I think it would be great if former DCC spoke out against the Cowboys organization because I'm sure it would get media attention. There's no way anyone involved with team now would do it -- they'd be fired instantly, and I'm including K and J in that.
  11. They really are awful. Apparently Romo could come back before the end of the season and they might be able to salvage something. It must be fun for Jasmine to cheer for a winning team!
  12. I originally questioned Jenna being on the team because she looked like a little girl at auditions, but she's really blossomed into a great DCC. She can still look a little young to me (especially in the swimsuit photos) but I think her maturity comes through, too.
  13. "Fair" in these cases usually means minimum wage and actually being compensated for the hours you work. The article also mentioned that the Raiders cheerleaders were fined for mistakes, and there are very strict labor rules about that, too.
  14. Yet another squad (the Ben-gals) won a lawsuit against the organization for unfair pay. http://deadspin.com/ben-gals-cheerleaders-win-255-000-settlement-in-lawsui-1738481954
  15. I was curious about this because I got into a pretty good (although not Ivy League) college early admission and I heard in December. I looked and Columbia's early decision time is mid-December. Is Sam applying to start in the spring or something? I know someone said she got into A&M and honestly I hope she goes to Columbia. She seems so smart and ambitious I think it would be a great challenge for her to have such a new environment.
  16. Didn't they have a lot more tumbling in previous years? I didn't see any of that.
  17. Football players>>>>everyone else as far as what's happening on the field. That's something I knew even as a marching band member in HS, Remember what happened to Melissa Kellerman after she was knocked over by Jason Witten and joked about it on Twitter? I'd be surprised if the cheerleaders on every team aren't told to never interfere with anything a player is doing. The football game isn't being staged to showcase the cheerleaders. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dallas-cowboys-cheerleader-melissa-kellerman-jason-witten-266446
  18. Who was the yoga instructor who made it into TC who was a little older? Was that Kayleigh?
  19. I got this impression too and it really bugged me, especially with Taylor. But I guess it wouldn't be much of a show if they cut everyone on the first night.
  20. I thought it was cute (and sad) how Kyndall asked to see her cameo one last time.
  21. I don't see what unpaid internships have to do with the DCC. An internship is supposed to be a learning experience to provide training for a job. This IS the job. And supposedly they're the best of the best, so they should be compensated appropriately.
  22. It honestly didn't sound like an insult to me. I think she just meant that Melissa is always intense. I don't watch her and think "gosh she's so adorable" like I would with Holly, but she's still an incredible dancer. I loved seeing Robin, even if it was for a few seconds. She's so young I think she has the potential to get better and better -- I could totally see her as a group leader someday.
  23. Was this the first time we saw one of the regular weigh ins on the show? I know they do them but I don't recall them actually showing anything other than the initial body fat calculation.
  24. I fall into the Rose is pretty camp, but she reminds me of a good friend of mine who is absolutely gorgeous. However I don't know if she's a good fit for the team. She was saying all the right things in Kelli's office, but she looked like she wanted to kill them. I think it's possible to do a job you love for a boss you don't like, but K&J aren't normal bosses and they don't have normal expectations. If Rose made it into the team next year I think she'd get labeled "toxic" like Kelsi and eventually booted or they'd just make her life miserable.
  25. When I think of low kicker K&J probably regret it's Lani, who either ran off the field before the kickline or didn't even perform in pre-game. I don't remember if that was a particularly weak crop of rookies or what, but they've had enough strong dancers that you'd think they'd not mess around with that anymore.
