I was surprised to read that it was a full hour. I kinda thought it would be a companion to The Bold & the Beautiful, which is a half hour.

Leo probably doesn't have any memories of Julian - he was very young when he died. Between that and Ned adopting him, it's not surprising most viewers forget too.

This episode was a letdown. I know we needed a break from the wall-to-wall grieving but Alexis was still the best part. Curtis and Portia were once okay characters but are now approaching Carly and [fill in the blank] levels of obnoxious, both separately and together. (Curtis still has a tiny bit of chemistry with Laura and Nina left.) I don't much like this Lucas either. He doesn't fit with Brad. The recast looks more like Carly's biological sibling than Sam's. Also, way too much Carly in general. I will give SM a thumbs up for a more spunky Sasha than we've seen in ages. But I don't really care. And I like Sasha more than most. Eta: Sorry for the negativity. I can't tell if it's just my general state of mind or if the episode was simply that annoying.

I wondered too. Sam might have left an interest in it to Dante but more likely her kids will inherit it thru some kind of trust. There's also the issue of Maxie's family living in Lulu's house. They're renting, right? Or did Dante sell it? I only vaguely remember the angst when Sam and Dante decided to cohabitate but not the details. Finn's apartment is empty. Chase and Brook Lynn need to go back to their own place but it's too small for the family they want to start. Surely someone is going to get a new home set? But will Dante want to stay there without Sam? I agree someone will end up there but we might be in for a round of musical houses by the time Lulu is on her own again.

I am still grossed out by the memory of Michael and Willow sneaking away to have sex during Wiley's birthday party.

Sweeps aren't over yet, so don't get too comfortable. 🙂 On one level I'm also enjoying the trashy soapiness. And DZ and NLG are breaking my heart. Sam's death will reverberate for years, no doubt. What else can you ask for with a daytime drama? At least we still have Carly, providing warmth and wisdom everywhere she goes. /s

Sasha did finally talk (awkwardly) to Willow after agonizing about it and discussing it with Cody. Willow blamed it on getting caught up in the fireworks and assured her that it wasn't a big deal. What I'm not recalling is how Cody knew about Drew and Nina.

Eww. Eww. Eww. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Turned on the TV to catch the preview before I queued up the dvr. Can someone pass the brain bleach?

I thought they also had a brief run-in at the Metro Court.

I'd mostly forgotten this. But that guy had followed Isaiah from Africa. Still seems farfetched for Sidwell's people to go after Lulu and Sam (and leave Jason and Lucky untouched) but whatever. I have a feeling any answer will be equally unsatisfying.
-
I'm not doubting that these writers are lame enough to draw out whatever story we're seeing and then abruptly wrap it up and blame it on Sidwell but have I missed some clues? Lulu's respirator happened before Sidwell got to the US, didn't it? And would he even know or care who Sam is? None of that would get his 100 million in diamonds back. An undead Ryan, Peter or even Austin would make more sense to me. 🙂 (Not that any of them would make sense either.)

As far as the organ donation optics, it would have been better for Sam to die in the "diving for the gun" red herring. Lulu would still get the liver she needed. But selfishly I'm glad we don't have to watch Alexis blame herself and Molly blame Kristina. Better to memory hole Cates than make us suffer more than we already have with Molly and Kristina.

I did too. It was a bit clumsy in the beginning, because the writers were obviously pairing them up because both characters were at loose ends. But they worked. (Not that it wasn't weird, considering all the family they shared but it was soapy weird.)

I loved that scene. The Zenon movies are fluff but iirc, cute in that Disney tv way. And one of the more clever bits of cross-promotion that ABCD has indulged in. I don't even like Spinelli but I'm not looking forward to Monday. I will admit that killing off Sam has been soapy but not the kind of umbrella story I normally want to see.

I'm not a FV fan but the real problem for me is the writing. The strike writers were pretty decent IMO. And Patrick Mulcahey was so promising.

Willow would need to find out about Michael/Sasha soon to make that happen. She didn't look too sympathetic to Drew when he was trying to explain about spilling to Michael without giving her a heads up.

It's weird to have the kiss stuff come out at the same time as Sam dying. I was barely paying attention to Drew flailing around because I was so teary-eyed over all the Sam scenes. CM's acting style is jarring enough that it becomes all I can see when he's onscreen.
-
Drew's such a dumb-@ss. Paying Cody off solves nothing when Ned still has the whole recording. And I'll agree that Cody disappointed me by taking so little for his silence. That's barely enough to tide him over if he loses his stablehand job.
-
I'll give SBu props for sidling into the room like he was afraid to look at Sam. Kinda ironic for a guy who's created more than his share of dead bodies.

From Wikipedia: Beyond the Gates (originally The Gates) is an upcoming American television soap opera created by Michele Val Jean. It will center around the Duprees, a wealthy African-American family in the gated community of Fairmont Estates.
-
I liked it better as The Gates too. Not that it matters much, since it will likely end up being shortened to The Gates again or just BTG before long. How often do fans type out full titles? Can GH even handle any serious competition? Still, I hope the new soap puts the fear of God into the existing shows, where the writing on most of them has been stale for years.

The worst thing about Drew and Willow's story is that they'll probably never address why Willow was vulnerable to him or Drew's swinish behavior in general.
-
Not even a soap first. ** On The Bold and the Beautiful, Steffy slept with her father-in-law after her husband confessed he kissed a girl when they were trapped under building rubble and thought they were going to die. Good times. /s 🙂 ** I'm sure it's happened before. That was just the last one I remember. Not a trope they should be perpetuating.

I wasn't expecting this to be the day but they've started out sweeps with a bang. (No puns intended.) Honestly, I don't care about Drew, Willow, Michael or even Cody right now. I do care a little about Sasha and am sorry she's likely to end up having a kid with Michael. I care about Nina too, because Drew danced around Cody spilling about Nina and Drew. I did get a little teary-eyed about Sam. I hate that she's dead dead. Dante and the kids finding out is going to be hard to watch. I second the hope that KeMo gets a fabulous second act after this.

Agreed. It does feel like there were more kisses than just the two. But all those scenes where they ran into each other and talked about feelings do count, if we're talking about an emotional affair.
