  1. Yeah I could not be anymore wrong about Nebraska & Minnesota. Shoulda just stuck with the under throughout all of my picks. I guess there's a sign saying people have to obtain YouTube Television if they don't want to deal with the nonsense from Spectrum, cable, etc. Picks Time! Tennessee, Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU, Iowa, Ole Miss, Oregon, Washington, OSU, Texas, ND, Wisconsin, Georgia, USC, Texas A&M, Penn State, Alabama, LSU, North Carolina, Clemson. ETA: I have Indiana, Utah State, and Duke covering Conference Champions ACC: Clemson Big Ten: Michigan Big XII: Texas Pac-12: USC SEC: LSU CFB Playoff: LSU, Michigan, Clemson, USC LSU over USC, Michigan over Clemson LSU over Michigan For my O/U: I'll go over for Ohio State/Indiana Penn State/West Virginia, Georgia/Whomever, and FSU/LSU. Under for the games featuring Tennessee, TCU, Notre Dame, Clemson, and the Carolinas. Not sure the total for ND and UGA might be (55.5 and 56.5 respectively)
  2. I'm not a Gator fan, and while I would have no reason for an opinion, all I can say is that I probably wouldn't be that upset at the outcome. While I have USC winning the Pac-12, I considered & thought of Utah. That's a real team. Furthermore, my pro team has been in a lot of similar cases. Being upset happens, usually based on the way you don't win. However, if you're opponent is expected to win, and they do, I can only say Oh Well, and then move on
  3. Well, welcome back to College Football. I'll go with Louisville, Utah, and Minnesota ATS. That's for the pre-Saturday slate. Cardinals still lose Utah/UF under 44.5 G Tech/Cards under 49.5 Nebraska/Minnesota over 42.5

Just saw a post from ESPN saying Hamlin survived the cut. Or maybe it was him making the roster. I guess it's news, but IMO, I'll guess that it would've been messed up if he didn't make the roster. On a related note, Miller should be on the roster too, but just not right away. We'll see after four weeks
  6. Tour Championship Final Standings 01: Hovland (-27) 02: Schauffele (-22) 03: Clark (-16) 04: McIlroy (-14) 05: Cantley (-13) Rather decent interview from Hovland in the aftermath of his victory
  7. Before Viktor Hovland won with a 5-shot margin, Xander Schauffele still did make it interesting. He never caught him but sorta almost did. Both played very great golf (Xander shooting a 62 & Hovland a 63 for a 261 score). Fortunately I didn't have to care about many people not tuning in since it wasn't a true major, but still a nice way to cap off the season before the Ryder Cup
  8. Tour Championship Top 5 After 54 Holes 01: Hovland (-20) 02: Schauffele (-14) T3: Morikawa (-13) T3: Bradley (-13) T5: Clark (-11) T5: Scheffler (-11) T5: Rahm (-11) Realistically, only Xander and Collin can catch Viktor. Technically Keegan could as well. Everyone else will need a lot of help. Or not; if they do as well as Collin did on Thursday, they'd have a chance if Viktor is off today. It's doubtful for the title since the 2nd & 3rd place finishers just need to do a little more than enough to prevent such a rally. Right now Hovland is on fire. If he plays reasonably the title is his. He'd win the last two legs of the FedEx Cup and should be the top golfer in terms of rankings. BTW, Lucas Glover won the first leg, which was a back-to-back between that event and the previous one. FWIW, I believe if Viktor Hovland can duplicate Collin Morikawa's Thursday performance, that will result in a score under 260

I'm not sure it's a wasteland, but I do think there were better spots for him. However, right now, this was the best deal San Francisco could get. It will be bad news for Trey if Prescott is reasonably good. Otherwise, Trey might have a chance to show something (or nothing) before Dallas has to make a decision on him. We'll see, but I have to review the terms again
  10. Halfway through the Tour Championship, Morikawa, Hovland, and Xander had the best round of the day if not were among the best players for the 2nd day of the final segment of the Fed Ex Cup. Viktor's 2nd day was still impressive; maybe not as decent as Collin's first day, but those two are tied since Hovland (who won the BMW last Sunday BTW) was in a better position heading into Thursday. Looks like that gifted 2-shot lead will not matter for Scottie unless he does something. Rahm and reigning champ Rory aren't too far back. Plus they have 2 days to make magic happen

As much as I'll be okay with 18 & 20 games, I'm with mojo: SIXTEEN was perfect. So was the 12-team postseason. The statistic of "how weird" is was for the 2 seed to have the same benefit as the 1 seed made no sense. Except it did based on who said it. Several people weren't into the league when you had to win your division just to get into the playoffs. They'd take a team from each conference that was the best among non-division winners, but no more. The benefit was the same as MLB before their expansion: win your division, and you get a bye
  12. Yeah that's what I heard. I'll be watching golf in the fall as well. Can't wait for the Ryder Cup. Autumn golf is still great. I'm already watching about a (half) dozen games of football, in addition the the MLB home stretch. Just something special about watching everything while at the house, tailgating, or in a sports bar establishment. The tough thing with so much sports is trying to stay awake all weekend as I'm an early riser. Fortunately, my viewing package has never been better as of this year! Anyway, Collin surged up the leaderboard in a big way on Thursday. He went from 27th to a 3-way tie for first place. Scottie didn't do anything. Viktor did a little more than nothing. FYI, Morikawa shot a 61

I think it's more probable than not (albeit slightly). An odd number of games just seems short-term. So I imagine they'll probably finish the 4-year loop of that 5th AFC/NFC matchup before moving to 18 in 2025. Otherwise, it restarts again with whatever the matchups were in 2021. If & when there's a reason (for the players) to tweak the CBA before the end of the decade, you'll see the league get that 18-game schedule that's going to happen in the future anyway. Furthermore, if it does occur in the next couple of years, it would eliminate that Valentine's Day conflict when we get to Super Bowl LXI. As mentioned, Presidents Day is the target. However, I'm not a fan of that. I hate to say it, and I'm sorry to say it, but if that's the plan, that makes the NFL a little tone deaf. They'll spin it as people being off the day after the big game, following a season where their big 3 days of NFL action are all on worknights/school-nights (Monday, Thursday, Sunday). It's similar to Columbus Day & Veterans Day. It's a holiday for banks & the USPS, but it's not on the level of Memorial Day, The 4th, and Labor Day. Not everybody is off that day.. I still love the 18-game thing (and the 20 games if THAT ever happens), but pushing the season end back to adjust is not the only solution. OTOH, if the target is to have the Super Bowl one week before Selection Sunday, so be it

Well, football "returns" before the professional segment of the sport goes on a 10-day break. I will not be watching tonight; on a related note, while I may be in the minority, I so cannot wait for 18 or 20 games per season. For me on a sole & emotional level, the optimism or lack of optimism depends on the outcome at Mercedes Benz Stadium tonight
  15. The Tour Championship should be underway in about 5-10 minutes. As has been the case for the past half decade, the eventual winner will be the 2023 FedEx Cup champion. As mentioned, I miss how the PGA isn't in August, but at least I will not have to worry about a viewing conflict due to the NFL & College Football (at least until the former starts the season much sooner, hopefully)

I gotta agree that Ohtani has no reason to do anything this season & get that surgery out of the way. Still, I think he definitely has a market; IMO, it might be easier to go elsewhere. Finally, the era in LA (AL) may be over for good, and that may be a great thing. I think the two-way thing full time will be over for sure. If he goes to LA (NL) I can't imagine it continuing with all of their stars there. It'll be interesting what happens in 2025. Too bad his current team lost out on something big, which IMHO hurts them more than Ohtani

Good luck getting a 1st round pick, Indy. You're going to need it. The sky is blue. Unlike that previous statement, I have no idea where Trey Lance will land if anywhere

As a fan of a team that had its playoff game pushed up 7 hours more than six years ago over speculation/concerns over the weather (ending up not a big deal), this was a little annoying to see this game play out. I couldn't agree more that this game should've been played at a different time or elsewhere (or cancel it). The situation is a big deal. Of course one has to be extra careful with a postseason game since that is a big deal, but other than injuries, nothing counts in the preseason, period

FWIW, if I played for Dan Campbell, he wouldn't need to say anything. TBF, I'd know playing for Kansas City or the Pats teams from the past

If anything, Baltimore's massive winning streak is outstanding in a negative way. The Ravens health has been a major issue in each of the past 2 seasons. They are a rather significant reason why Cincinnati has grabbed the division title from their grasp

Here's a link from ESPN mentioning Zeke going from Dallas to New England Also from ESPN are news items featuring Breece Hall's New York activation in the aftermath of Dalvin Cook finally making it to the Jets and Anthony Richardson as the official starter for Indianapolis. Meh re: Richardson. I'm not sure what else could've happened there. As for Zeke, as mentioned by JTMacc99, I don't think the Pats O-Line is going to be that great, but Elliott has the ability to make up for that. That I agree, for the most part. This is 2023 Zeke, not 2016 Elliott. However, that should help Mac somewhat. Unlike Cook to NY. It isn't a bad move, but not a very good move (on paper) since the O-Line for the Jets might not be that outstanding
  22. So the FedEx playoffs start this afternoon. Well, it started on Thursday, but CBS coverage begins in about an hour. New this year is that there are no mid-event cuts. So everyone that entered made the weekend. Also a first is the entire post-season, all the way to the Tour Championship is airing on CBS. I basically forgot about that (and while I'm okay with NBC coverage, this is pretty neat that CBS gets to & is available for the entire Fed Ex Playoffs)
