I think New Orleans will be okay without Brees. They proved that in the past. Looking at their schedule, they could win out until Kansas City, maybe drop a game or two. It would suck if they fell behind Tampa after sweeping them. If I had to guess, it'll 3-5 games for Drew Quick question, or concern: I read something elsewhere where someone stated, "Buffalo shows HC Sean McDermott the door after the conclusion of last night's Cardinals-Buffalo game." I can't explain that if I had to go onto the radio or television. I saw that in the AM. Maybe that came from a source more elite and inside over folks like Glazer, Schefty, and Rap Sheet. But as mentioned, that was this morning, so if that is valid, they would've said something by now

You're forgetting about 6-3 Miami. No I'm not. Several people have said to watch out for Miami. I respect that; the Dolphins can win the AFC East. At the very least they put themselves in position to do so. The problem is their schedule, down the road. Their next three games aren't too bad. However, it doesn't look pretty after Week 13. They still have the Chiefs on their schedule. It's a toss up with the Pats, though I like their chances. New England struggles in Miami. Vegas isn't your old Raiders (as in most of this century. They were good in the 70s & 80s, early 90s and from 2000-2002); that's across the country at Allegiant. It might come down to the Dolphins & the Bills controlling their own destiny. The thing that's tough is playing in Orchard Park in January. Otherwise, I might tend to lean toward Miami

I never thought Buffalo/Arizona would be such a thrilling game, period. If you'd ask me two years ago, definitely not. Both the Bills and the Cardinals are improving. It is refreshing to have both teams doing well and playing meaningful football, especially in mid-November. Arizona needed that more than Buffalo's game-winner that turned out to be not that. Those heroics gave New England life for the AFC East after Baltimore's loss. Nothing too significant, but everything went right if the Patriots were to rally to win a 12th consecutive division title. Right now I wouldn't bet Buffalo to have a 2008 Denver Broncos collapse, but on the bright side, New England might have an outside shot as a wild-card, thanks to a 7th spot (and possibly an 8th spot). The awards are still 2.5 months away, but as of November 16th, 2020, I think Deandre Hopkins just clinched the Bridgestone Performance Play of the Year (or whomever is this season's sponsor)

I probably won't waste time getting upset if (and when) he isn't fined for it. While the randomness of the NFL discipline is just that, I think organizations like the Steelers and unlike the Raiders will do the right thing. In doing so, whatever New England does is their business. It will be a bad look since I saw Belichick without one but can't recall the Steelers not wearing theirs. They didn't but I didn't see the violation on television Speaking of Bill, and based on what I saw online, it's been a long time, maybe close to six years since Pittsburgh was happy for the Patriots for a game. And I think it's a first that the New England "pulled the upset against the Baltimore Ravens"

Whoops! I knew their bye was next week too, which means they completed their tenth game today. My fault!
-
They still have a ton of tough games left, including the AFC North outside of the current leader, They could go 0-6 especially if I pick them to run the table to finish 10-6 (similar to their Super Bowl years & run). Seattle you never know, and Dallas favors the GMEN. Anyway, it's not easy for New York, unless I pick against them. Meanwhile, several people were happy to see Nick Chubb return today, but that view did a 180 around the conclusion of the Texans/Browns game. Meh, I was okay with the ending; it happens

RIP Paul Hornung. One of the rare greats in both College and the NFL. Similar to how we aren't getting a league MVP from a non-playoff team, or a Super Bowl MVP from a losing team, we'll never see a Heisman winner from a team with a losing record, ever again. The real Golden Boy. It's been a rough year, period, but I feel for the St. Louis Cardinals fans along with the Green Bay fans. The Steelers result against the Bengals will not be a shock, regardless of the outcome. I think Cincinnati is for real and might be 1-2 years & a defense away from being a major contender. IMO, Cincy reminds me of Cleveland 2 years ago when they rallied in the second half and finished strong against expectations. Pittsburgh might point to covid issues in an event of a loss, but the Bengals have been dealing with the coronavirus as well. Cincy had a bye, but despite the fan turnout, it's at Heinz Field. Week Ten Picks includes: Cleveland, Detroit, Tampa, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Buffalo, Miami, Vegas, Seattle, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Chicago. The Eagles are getting several people back. Despite the jokes on a 5-win NFC Team, I think Philly might run away and possibly get that number to 7-9 wins. The problem is they are losing several people, including their entire defensive line, thanks to their assistant coach testing positive

Man, Michigan is a mess. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is rolling. The all but expected rematch might not be a revenge game, probably a coin-toss

But the holiday that is Groundhog Day is February 2 ...
-
With all of these awesome tributes from GSN to Buzzr, I think I might have to tune into Groundhog Day, which would be the first time I've watched the movie this close to the holidays, I believe. Saturday Night Live finally gets a week off. First time since September after airing an all-but unprecedented six episodes in a row. I missed seeing which episode was "scheduled" to be rerun on November 14th, and I haven't seen or heard of anything related to Trebek and SNL. There are more than enough Celebrity Episodes to fill not just a 90-minute episode, but a 60-to-90-minute show that sometime precedes one's local news (in addition to the 11:30 - 1:00 slot). The show will most definitely pay tribute to Alex when they return, but if there's ever a week to run those, this would be it
-
Notre Dame just announced that they have no positives, or no new positives. Those were the players; no idea about the students, but I'll be honest: I couldn't care less. I'm not "rooting" for "tragedy" but it's a simple case of you know the risks & it is what it is

It's basically a reversal of Dru Hill & Jodeci!
-
That is correct. It was Vince Williams, Jaylen Samuels, and someone else in addition to Ben that was close to Vance McDonald

While she survived a ton of people that lived a full life (and some that sadly didn't in addition to those that lived more than a complete life), it's really amazing and awesome that Betty is still with us. In this case, she outlived an 80-year old that was born after she graduated high school. That in and of itself is outstanding. With apologies to Mr. Trebek. While Alex joked about it, to be fair, Ms. White does have hosting experience too. She won an emmy for that as well!
-
In all seriousness, while the eventual replacement will not surpass Alex but could be respected enough to be his replacement, outside of that group, I think the best choice would be Pat Sajak. Despite the total, he literally has hosted the show before. At least most aren't as close to Trebek as Pat. No one said it had to be long-term, but I think Sajak would be the only person I'd truly be okay with over anyone else (including Ken and Brad)

Pittsburgh may be dealing with an outbreak, and that would suck if it costs them their perfect season. Especially to Cincinnati at home. Though the Bengals aren't as bad as their record shows. Sucks that they got swept to Cleveland, who were victims of a complete beatdown from Baltimore. That being said, the Steelers have been very, very close to losing each of their last three games. They are all road games; as mentioned, they play to their competition, but they did face a tough Ravens & Titans squad. This is a combination of 2004 and 2017 for Pittsburgh. They're escaping defeat week after week, while holding off a team that probably beats them anywhere with anybody in the Chiefs. Carolina is actually okay, but that was a bad look for Kansas City at home. I wouldn't worry about the Chiefs. They usually start strong early, crash to Earth mid-season, and surge late

Hope Coach Izzo will be okay. Man, I'd love to things to be back to normal soon. That's not going to happen, but maybe a spot between the old and the new. In other words, a resemblance of the old with some of the new as we hopefully trend toward the end. ESPN hasn't had their 24-hour tourney in quite a while, but man do I miss those as much as I miss College hoops. Thinking that the season should've been kicking off tonight after MNF into tomorrow. I guess I would've been pissed since the year will get shuffled thanks to the pandemic

I thought I was the only person on Planet Earth to even think of Steve Harvey as a replacement. That was early on, but then I did a search and I guess I don't need to disclose those results! Of course, if they go the route gameshows have done while replacing an icon, or having to replace one due to one's health/death (Password & The Joker's Wild come to mind), maybe Mike Richards gets the OK to hire Steve Harvey. As much as I'm the only one here to mention that, I actually would watch the show with him on. Probably no more than 5 episodes though! Ken Jennings as the host is total chalk. As mentioned, nothing against him; I'd go with Brooke Burns. That depends on her schedule, but she is more qualified than Ken. Someone mentioned elsewhere that Savannah Guthrie would be a nice fit, and in addition, I mentioned Jimmy Kimmel. Guthrie has the personality, I believe, and Kimmel has hosting experience. The issue is her schedule. I don't know if she'd be willing to step down from the Today Show, which might be required unless Jeopardy can relocate to 30 Rockerfeller Plaza or close by. Same with Kimmel though I think his location is more manageable

I guess the reasons why are that the new Bucs wide receiver faced charges. Also, the new Tampa wideout doesn't have any rings. In addition, the Cowboys played hosts to Roethlisberger and the Steelers. They could've won, but to stick to tradition they maintained for the past quarter-century, Dallas said, "No thank you." Pittsburgh finally has their first in-season positive test. Man, if you're feeling symptoms, I'm not sure why you're blowing it by being tough and dedicated. Any other year and someone skipping a game for symptoms would get crushed. Not this year, and definitely not on the road outside of decent driving distance

The game was short and sweet. That alone is enjoyable!

I'm happy for Johnny Gilbert (yet another icon I grew up with as it relates to announcing amongst other things (including Gene Wood, Rod Roddy and the already mentioned Johnny Olson & Charlie O'Donnell AND Don Pardo). Never thought I'd even think Mr. Gilbert would outlive Trebek. It will be weird, I agree. I wonder if Johnny will retire, as people I know speculated that he might've stepped down when Alex's contract expired after 2021-2022

That's the thing. Dabo is now in that "elite" territory where the NCAA would rather not touch him. Everyone else (save for Saban, Day, Orgeron, even Miles and Gundy) might get docked. As of November 8th, I probably won't bet on it. We're actually getting close to the end of the season, and if all goes pretty well, it will be the last time we have to deal with this situation ever again. The Raiders probably did more in a day than Dabo did in a week to violate protocol. Dabo's about winning and business; Gruden and Mark Davis couldn't care less. Swinney doesn't have a championship to date in the NFL, and while Gruden does, I hardly think he is on the level of a Bill Belichick or Andy Reid or Pete Carroll. At least those successful guys will adjust and deal with it, but they might avoid discipline otherwise. Just my opinion
-
Oh I agree. My comment was based on fact. I made mention in my Twitter feed that, after all these years, if you haven't learned to DVR SNL or the Amazing Race, or whatever that follows a live sporting event, I have no sympathy. It's been the norm since the beginning of time, or since 1968. Unless you're on the West Coast, the announcers mention the time change. "Local programming will start after you're local news [Saturday] or after 60 Minutes [Sunday] over most of these [Network] stations. I think we agree, icemiser. I felt for them, but if they wanted to stay up for whatever. However, if they didn't, record it and all extra time. Moreover, their episode is available online. When I watched SNL super-regularly in the past I always taped to cover. If I couldn't catch it or if I screwed up, the Plan B was always there. That, and I caught it Sunday (or Monday during the football season / late college hoops season) I think I was pissed off at Notre Dame / Clemson due to being incorrect with my prediction and less with the winner. I'd be pissed if I went with Notre Dame but Clemson beat them. While I respect both, I'm not a fan either. Dabo knows that no one's messing with him. They'll fine him once and that's it. In the NFL, they'll still fine him once, but then successfully scare him into doing the right thing for the most part
-
It would figure if Notre Dame and the Cowboys once again win on this special weekend. The thing is if it means Pittsburgh having to travel to Kansas City as a 2 seed for a possible AFC Title game at Arrowhead, and they get whopped, so be it. Until the Steelers beat the Chiefs, I'd never pick them to beat Kansas City. Even if the game was played at Heinz Field with fans, I still don't see the Steelers beating the Chiefs with Pittsburgh as Number 1 and Kansas City at Number 2. Still a step in the right direction for Pittsburgh. As mentioned, they're not going 16-0, though I don't know if you'd want to take an L against this team. Unless they plan on beating Baltimore again or Buffalo at New Era in Orchard

I'll let God deal with cancer and 2020 and whatever else. In the meantime, I have to thank saber for sharing that message from Alex. I knew in my heart that Mr. Trebek would have something prepared to be released posthumously. Very nice words, thank you.
