For what it's worth, the Wyndham Championship is not going to move the needle in terms of must watch TV in sports. It's a decent program for (big time) golf fans as it's the final event before the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs. I tuned in as the finale event is no different, but it's the final CBS telecast for the season. They will not be covering the FedEx Postseason in 2022 (it's NBC exclusive). Not sure I'd watch it for a second next year (unless Ian Baker Finch and/or Jim Nantz retires), but it was the last chance to see Faldo in action. What a very special and touching moment. I'm going to miss Sir Nick Faldo for sure. Well done. Cheers & congrats to Sir Nick. Take care.

That's right. Speaking of that, the only thing I'm not a fan of is the LDS structure as it relates to seeding. In other words, there isn't any; the six place team should have to face the team with the league's best record

The show typically avoids having questions where the top 2 ranked answers are a match in terms of responses. As mentioned, it's usually reserved for Fast Money. These days, a ton of stuff that might have surfaced in the main game is save for Fast Money (for example, questions with 9 or 10 qualifying responses since the board maxes out at 8). TBH, I don't think it's a big deal, it's CFF meaning over the top antics play out here. However, given the digital nature of FF, there is a point here. The first disclosed response, in the second slot, could've been easily moved to the first slot, I believe. As mentioned, there was nothing the second team could do in order to gain control. It's not too big of a deal though, since it's a super-rare case

Currently for sure. However, there has to be time removed from the present period, added to a solid prediction that it's going to be that way for the next several years. In other words, the Rams and Kansas City have both been pretty good since 2016, and I don't see either one falling off the map within the next 2 seasons. On the other hand, who knows what'll happen with the Steelers, Ravens, or Patriots. They all could fall real soon. However, the stability has been there for the 3 teams for the better part of 2 decades. As mentioned, 5 coaches among the teams (with Bill being the one present the whole time, but Tomlin & Harbaugh following people that had long stints). They've had their winning, championship moments; regardless of what happens real soon, their legacies are there & it can only grown from here

That's fair enough. I'll count Tucker since he's exceeded expectations & is probably Canton Bound. Pretty spot here. Not much, if anything, to disagree with (apologies for yet another double negative) While a legend like Colin Cowherd would put the Rams in first place in terms of the best culture in the NFL, as it relates to the team & ownership, I don't think I'd put Los Angeles on my Mount Rushmore in terms of the most awesome teams in the league. The best culture in terms of the whole picture, from the top to the bottom would be Baltimore, New England, and Pittsburgh for sure. I'd give a slight edge to Kansas City over the Rams, but the mentioned teams, IMO, are the best in terms of culture. No nonsense, pretty fair, success, winning, and a lot more. A big reason why those teams do well is pretty much all about culture. Without it, teams struggle, and end up nowhere

They did it for the money. I did hear people saying they wanted to spend time with their families & play less, but it was for the money, period. Fair enough, who doesn't want more money. I think a couple of people were straight up honest about it, but then came those that couldn't come clean. They couldn't "tell the truth" which isn't a surprise. Who knows how the lawsuit will play out? Maybe the PGA has a case given the reasoning, but for me, I'm fine without the LIV. I'll be watching Faldo's finale, and then the FedEx Cup. After that, it's time for football. As mentioned, there's too much to do before committing to a watered down product. Sure the health of Woods makes it easy for him to forgo the LIV Tour, but the guy's done well enough to where he could purchase it
-
I stayed off of the Social Media on over the weekend, mainly on Sunday, and really the Internet. So I didn't learn of Bill's passing until Monday. Not many people place Bill Russell as the GOAT. That may be more fair than not, but the guy is top notch in terms of the most accomplished. Started & ended things in college and the pros as a winner.

Given how San Diego got better + The Dodgers = Yeah I wouldn't bet on it. It's not common to turn on the radio or the TV for an announcer (other than Pat & John). Though I have turned it off due to someone calling a game. Vin Scully was one in a handful of people that was worth listening to. Really it was more about the game and not the person calling it.

The fact that Stephen Ross didn't have to answer for his crimes is pathetic. Not that he didn't get into trouble, but that he got a pass because "he was joking" which is a pure total double standard. ITA; it's not something you joke about, especially if a player jokes about a decision that affects the integrity of the game. I don't think a player would get the book tossed at him for it (unless it is related to gambling), but that person would totally get fined/suspended. I think if Payton doesn't retire they nail him for sure. I don't know about Tom; in this case the most they'd be able to do is a fine. Not sure he had that much control, as a team needs to agree to take him (and Brady has to want to go there)

I believe 4th is the earliest Baltimore has picked throughout their history upon moving to Maryland in 1996. With all their high picks, and some decent culture, it wasn't too much of a shocker that they went from zero to hero. FWIW, and I may be drawing a blank, but I don't think they ever had a first overall pick play for them (via a trade or free agency). I think they have but it's likely someone that was drafted at that spot in the late 80 to early-mid 90s, if at all. Technically, Pittsburgh hasn't fallen into the Top 10 category in quite a long time. The Bush pick was one they moved up to (similar to how they got Troy Polamalu). Speaking up which... While true, many people would not have to do much if any research here. I guess New England was very clever if they're picking 10th following a season where they didn't lose any regular season games. In a sense, it was brilliant since they lost their 31st pick, but similar to how they've "lost" picks before, they end up regaining them. Helps explain how they've picked before the Steelers several times despite finishing ahead of them in the standings every year but twice since 2004

I watched the opening kickoff, and then immediately switched to PYL right after the ball hit the ground for a touchback. Therefore, while I tuned into some action, it is fair to say that I really did not watch a second of that game. Turned the TV off around 9 or whatever. It's a possibility that I don't watch anything until 4 weeks from next Thursday. Things may be on here and there, but there's no reason to sit through any games in full before next month. Due to the incoming conditions, at one point, I actually expected the HOF Game to be cancelled out of nowhere

Season Two to be exact. The opener had a big win as well, which was the record at that time. That contestant didn't get to $500,000 even if you counted the main game winnings. As mentioned, the front game doesn't count, and it shouldn't. Fine by me. It would sorta wreck the bonus round if someone gets add-a-one, doubles their bucks, and then avoids the whammy. They'd be in position to win well before the big bucks bonanza! Speaking of that season, someone actually did well in the front to where the bonus round was a glorified free-roll
-
Likely to fill the void left by Drew Brees. FWIW, people said he did well during NBC's coverage of the USFL. Looks like yet another game that probably isn't going to play out
-
You're being too generous, bluegirl. The Browns had 3 coaches in two years!
-
One could argue that there was an ounce of pettiness for those that actually quit the PGA Tour for the LIV. I totally agree, if they don't get into the FedEx Cup playoffs, that's on them. The ones that were kicked out might win, and it would be great to get them back on television in time. As for regaining their sponsors, who knows? That might come in time, but it's not a big deal if it doesn't play out this month

The Hall of Fame Game is overrated to be honest. Sure it’s action on the field, but it’s best suited for background noise or whatever. Eleven times out of ten I’d settle for a HOF game before an XFL/USFL game. However, the main stars and even next people up will not to (much of) anything tonight. As mentioned, similar to the Pro Bowl, a move to a different day was a pretty good idea. Having this on Thursday before the ceremony was brilliant. There hasn’t been much, if any talk about DeShaun suing for defamation, for what it’s worth. The US Supreme Court, who likely would possibly would’ve passed on hearing the case for Tom Brady, has a different cast of people today than they did six years ago. In my opinion, I think Watson is more likely to lose if and when they hear it. The SCOTUS has been hearing or taking a lot more cases than they might have in the past. Maybe the QB has a case or a reason given the lack of evidence, but IMO, it’s just one of those situations where they’d honor the CBA, while making note of Sue Robinson’s findings. Someone elsewhere said that if it’s 17 games, it’s possible that it’ll start this year to wreck 2022, and put a dent on 2023. I’m starting to think that if it starts this year, he’ll be gone whatever’s left of 2022, and all of 2023

Life is not fair, but the fact remains as such: How about the players, not all of them, but some of them, decide to be better human beings. The effort for being better human beings is less than the effort to strip the power of the powers that be over the fact that one's ruling might not be fair. Nobody forced DeShaun Watson to do what he was accused of that led to the trouble that he (and Cleveland) finds himself in. Roger Goodell did not tell Marquise Brown to speed around a loop in Arizona. The other NFL owners were not going to kill Bruce Beal for his refusal to be sleazy in an attempt to acquire the best NFL person in over 100 years. I'll be dead someday, and well after that, people in the league will continue to do the wrong thing and make poor choices. From their, instead of owning up to it, they'll use the energy for obtaining or an attempt to obtain forgiveness without paying the price. It's a shame, but what are you going to do?

What's probably going to happen is that he'll end up playing in Week One, and it'll be a situation where it emulates either the Brady thing or the Zeke thing. For those in Western PA, it sort of sucks if it's the latter. Pittsburgh plays Cleveland in Week 3, and if the NFL win the appeal following a delay, then Watson could miss Weeks 7-17 and really any postseason games (which there would not be any). Therefore, Baltimore & Cincinnati avoid DeShaun, especially the former. The Bengals haven't defeated the Browns since 2019, so it might not matter. If there's a delay, chances are it goes into 2023. Watson misses time, and the Steelers fans will say the NFL hates them when they put both games after late enough for him to return. Conspiracy aside, I agree their appeal is the right thing to do. Yeah there was not proof or whatever, but based on Sue Robinson's review, how is that 6 games. Furthermore, if the other owners are upset about how "clever" the Browns were with their deal, then Roger is going to take Cleveland and Watson down. Can't fault the other owners; by the way, I actually think that if the contract structure was a normal one, then the NFL would forgo their appeal (to the NFL)

"If the Jets are part of that group of legit awfulness over the past 20 years, then you have to add the Jaguars to the mix." - What yours truly typed before JTMacc's post above surfaced prior to the completion of my post Might as well add that the Jets have actually had more success in that period (1 division title, 5 playoff wins, plus the Favre year). The Raiders & Bucs crap ass nature wasn't too long ago, but sorta forgettable due to their recent success. Unlike the Browns, the Raiders haven't won a playoff game in a long time. Cincinnati will likely be forgotten as a team that's been awful for some time (despite their 2009-2015 run); they nearly won the super bowl despite picking in the Top 5 twice in as many years headed to the 2021 season For what it's worth, I'm glad the Steelers aren't in the business of tanking. They haven't even finished last in their own division in over 3 decades. Plus, for several years prior to the current structure that's been in place for a whopping 20 years, they had 6 teams in its division. Before Haskins died, I don't think they would have or should have selected a QB (in the first round), but you need a QB in this league these days, so I have no problem with it. Plus, they had an 8-6 mark with Duck starting for them

To be more specific, the ovation Ray Rice received was off of the video that excluded him actually hitting his wife. That would surface just about a month later, soon after the league's ruling. Like you said, humans have an incredible capacity to show bad judgement. They typically double down and voice their behavior. Especially in this example, after the second video surfaced too; "It's only fair enough that if a woman hits a man, it's fair game for a man to hit her in return!" That was their response shortly after the former SB 47 winning RB got kicked out. As mentioned, people are entitled to their own opinion, but that's a total no from me in terms of agreeing with that statement

Watson is just an NFL player, not an NFL owner. Maybe he's not going to learn his lesson, but I think even the dumbest of the dumbest people on Planet Earth would not screw up in a similar fashion to what he's been accused of doing. What's different between Cosby and DeShaun is that Cosby was an icon for several decades. DeShaun is not. To be fair, he does have talent & did well at Clemson, but after several years, he only has one playoff win. It's not easy to believe someone when they're accusing someone like Bill, but Watson hasn't reached that status right now

It's still time missed. Sure it was his call, after his failure to get out of Houston, he still didn't play. The point here is that while his wallet was not affected, the longer someone's been out of the game prior to their return the worse off they may be. I doubt Roger will factor that in; BTW there's no indication that the league will accept the ruling. I think more games will be tacked on (maybe 11 more games). It probably isn't great since we'll see deflategate 2.0 with this dragging on forever. Nonetheless, money or no money, it's not popular to miss games, the game one loves. That's not a tough slate to start the season. That looks like 4-2. If & when Watson returns, it should offset things. I'm not going to crown them AFC winners, or even put them ahead of Pittsburgh (as neither have happened since 1999, or even a decade before that), but the last two teams that lost their QB due to suspension ended up completing the season & the Super Bowl. The Ben trade stuff is not accurate. The Steelers were never planning on trading him; I'm assuming you might be thinking of the Niners trying to get him in 2010, which was completely false. They wanted him suspended, that's a little more accurate, but I doubt they're saying goodbye to the guy that within that half decade, helped with 2 Superbowls, the first in a quarter century at that time

The baffling thing is that he isn't even that damn powerful. What have the Texans done since he arrived to Houston? Not much more, if at all, than what they were like for several years prior to his arrival
-
TBH, this news will end up not making or breaking my day. As mentioned, the NFL is too worth it to say no thank you in terms of watching. While I'll respect the collegiate level of the game and how people may favor it over the professional level, the NFL is the best version of football, period. I didn't even need to watch the USFL (and probably won't watch the XFL) to be satisfied in terms of my football fix. The fact is this length means he'll miss time (and he didn't play last year at all). Unless the league appeals it, this means this pathetic situation will go away, be done with, and we can focus on other stuff related to the NFL
-
FWIW, I didn't check in on Social Media on Sunday, so I missed the annual preaching of the NFL talking heads and media personalities saying how it's the last free Sunday or final week without football for over half a year (or Valentine's Day week). Six games is not enough, but 12 probably would not have been either
