I don't understand why they needed to CHANGE the damn kickoff to be honest. There are an infinite number of things the league could've done to stay modern. While it's here to stay for 2024, I guess I can have the optimism they'll change it back to what they were doing in 2010 and before.

Probably not yet. I think after this year, the financial burden Cleveland chose to put themselves in will be done away with.
-
To be honest, I think they should just do away with returning champions. Even better: they should emulate the daytime syndicated Match Game format. To be more specific: Have the same two families battle twice, and then start with two new families regardless of a 2 game sweep or a split. BTW, I think the new season starts today if it hasn't started already. One thing to note is that there is a new show-runner. The good news is that it is unprecedented in a positive way. The not so good news (but not bad news) is that it's not a super big deal unless changes made are noteworthy. It's not going to matter in the long run if it's business as usual on a typical day

To be fair, there are several things I can differentiate when it comes to DeShaun Watson and Joe Burrow, including the fact that one's first name starts with a W and the other ends with a W. To be fair the other way around: They both cashed on the collegiate level within a season by beating Alabama. That's all I have in terms of similarities.

I disagree. Ohio State is going to the College Football Playoff for the rest of time. If they take care of business elsewhere, The Game will become meaningless. However, they would have to cash in the postseason; without a title, Day is gone. In the aftermath, OSU will simply say that Ryan didn't hoist anything, but it probably will not be due to losing to TTUN. Of course, losing to the same team in a playoff game will result in a coaching change

Maybe several know the reason, but otherwise, and IMO, I'd like to see the US Open moved up one week (if not 2). Okay finals this weekend but I'm not sure who saw the outcomes and how many

As much as I wasn't impressed, I also didn't think I was going through hell on Earth. If you put aside the character, I think he added to the broadcast. Gave pretty decent analysis & was professional. Nothing impressive, and something several can do...and what Greg did over the past couple of years. As mentioned, he didn't sound like he belonged, but I'm not losing sleep over it. If things don't work out, then FOX will move on. FWIW, it wasn't all over the place like CBS had when Romo replaced Simms

To be fair, it is only Week 2. Michigan likely will have a miserable year, but they lost to a Top 5 team. Doesn't matter if it occurred on their home turf. A much, much, better program also failed to win on their home turf last season to the same team. While I don't expect them to do anything this season, it's not as bad as Notre Dame's outcome
-
Both big games are 7-3 with the "favored" home team trailing. And simultaneously, both defenses on the field at the time (Cleveland & Vegas) got the offense (Dallas & LA) off the field on 3rd down

For the first time ever, the Southeastern Conference obtained over 85% of the Associated Press Top 25 Football Poll, thanks to the Notre Dame upset as well as the close call in State College & Michigan's first loss since 2022 to the Longhorns. Penn State is still in the Top 10, but six of the Top 7 spots are occupied by SEC schools, including the aforementioned Texas. Georgia & Alabama remain 1 and 4, and Ole Miss replaces Notre Dame in the 5 spot. With the Longhorns win over the previous Top Ten school in TTUN, they swap with Ohio State in the 2 spot. No changes in the Coaches poll however, where Mississippi was already in the 5th spot. Speaking of which, Utah is in the Top Ten there, but not in the AP Poll, which has Miami there. Both schools are 12th in the rankings in which they're outside of the Top 10. USC is 11th in both, and despite the Wolverines' fall outside of the Top 15, they should be able to get into the Top 10 with a road win in the Big House. Mizzou, Tennessee, and Oregon complete the top of the rankings. Despite their horrible loss, Notre Dame remains inside the Top 20. Kansas, Iowa, and NC State fall out of the Top 25. In fact, NC State didn't even receive votes this time around. Iowa State & Nebraska have entered the Top 25

No big deal in New Orleans. The Saints can bagel Carolina about 38-0, and I can still see Dennis Allen getting fired before Dave Canales. Though the latter gets an early Christmas gift in the form of a pink slip, prior to Turkey Day. Best shot at getting a win because that's not happening for the 2009 champions in any of their next five games

I think there was some discussion about bringing Greg back to create a 3-man booth as a price for Tom to pay for owning Las Vegas. Which is still hypocritical to call a game & be an NFL owner in any way. Which also, for me, would not be surprising if someone made an exemption. Rules are overrated, but if you're Hill, or someone else, it doesn't mean one should disobey rules & laws on the end. TBH, I don't think I could care less if the league has no issue with it, but Greg's return this year would be something I'd love to see. Speaking of Tyreek, to add to the comments over from mojoween, that is messed up there. Two things can be true, however. Or 3 things in this case. The guy is not a great human being period. That arrest is a bad look. Finally? I'm sorry, but upon seeing that and before it, I have no sympathy for him. A total waste of time to feel sorry there

Brady and KB (with EA & Mr. Rinaldi) at Huntington Bank Field to start the third (or 4th or 5th) era in terms of a top team calling games for FOX. To be honest, a game one can be irritated thrice, let alone once or twice. With apologies to merylinkid & roamyn. One more thing about the Steelers, or two more: Probably precautionary in term of RW, but that injury is probably a season-long one. Also, thinking about another team from Western PA that loves defense. That team finally understood offense is the way to go in football in the current day. TBH, it might take at least 4 games for the Steelers to score 55 points (offensively)

If the following makes you feel any better, Magog: CBS doesn't have a double-header today on TB12's NFL color commentary debut. Since they moved to 18 weeks, the league added a second Sunday where both FOX & CBS had a double header, and that used to be on Week One (in addition to the final regular week of the season). Until I saw the schedule, I figured that the NFL didn't want to have Jim & Tony working opposite them, but apparently they do have a game (albeit a scheduled kickoff 20 minutes in advance). So the good news is that there is actually another option. The bad news is that it isn't a great option, but thank you to the creator of the mute button. Thanks for the well wishes. No issue not wishing anything for Dallas. I do not give a damn about the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will need all the good luck and that may not be enough. While it would be anything other than a surprise to see Pittsburgh backdoor to 8 wins & a tie if not 9 wins with pending results from another Week 18 game, I do not see a win on their schedule, period. Maybe Week 8, but that is it.

No Russell Wilson for Pittsburgh this afternoon. Not on a related note, Tyreek Hill is expected to play despite being detained in Miami this morning

The beauty is that ND could find themselves on the outside looking in & no control of its own destiny. If they were part of the Big Ten, losing to nobody wouldn't be the end of the world. However, it is what it is

This was a stay away weekend when it comes to game selection for the Dub...but with the exception of Bowling Green, it's been worth it!

The good news, if you're a Michigan fan* is that it's way too early (for me) to write off the season. No thanks to the chances of Connor Stalions being available for work, which can happen in a hurry when you're coaching a team to a 60-0 loss. * Yes, I heard that pin drop. Loud and clear!

Possible Sprained MCL As Worst Case Scenario For Love

PNC Park is empty because this was a makeup game, rescheduled from last night for no reason. Also, it's football season. In addition, Pittsburgh's no-hitter on Wednesday was part of a 12-0 loss, one of the biggest shutouts in a game that featured a no-hitter. BTW, they were on their way to getting no-hit for the second time in less than a week (broken up in the 7th). It's over for the Pirates this year, and that's on their leadership. However, the "vacant" ballpark isn't new; that's been the case all season, if not the past 2-3 years, if not over the past half decade. Unless Skenes is pitching (or on a lesser note, if there are fireworks). Now, it's not empty earlier in the year, but it's not close to full capacity either. Therefore, when there's an unplanned game in September (FWIW, this time 24 hours ago, no one could picture a Saturday matinee on September 7th) unless you're in a pennant race, nobody is going to go, period. Anytime one had was spent preparing for a Friday evening game that didn't take place

I love Michigan, but this beat down courtesy of Texas in a hostile environment is glorious /s

One things for sure: while Green Bay may appear to take 3 consecutive decades of "having a decent QB" to 4 and possibly 5, they were blessed to have Favre to where they didn't have to worry about not having one for a period of time. The max from the early 90s to the late 2000s was the conclusion of the game that Brett exited from early. Although injuries are no laughing matter, it was sort of hilarious that A-Rod found his way to IR while No. 4 was still there. Pretty much hell on Earth at Lambeau, courtesy of the team from Foxborough. I guess I'd call it revenge from a decade ago. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL continued having games on Fridays going forward. However, they can do away with playing a game in Brazil from here on out. It doesn't make sense if they're going to continue to make decisions & changes that "trend toward player safety" unless they can cash on it. I don't know if they'd play a game that early in Europe; I don't think they have to, but as long as the Friday games are before the second Saturday of September, they'll be able to have those
-
I'll still disagree, unless that injury is career ending or life ending. Personally that's not fair based on how everything played out & the total picture. Though I would have given him less than what he earned, but Green Bay had to pay him. However, if a team like Cincinnati doesn't pay someone like Chase & they struggle, I don't know if people will forgo citing his absence throughout the season

Man that field is hideous!
