The cast is so oversized that it took me a good minute to remember who Dr. Murphy is.

And I thought to myself, she's comparing her mother to a tumor?

I totally agree. Looks like we are in the minority. This is the first time I've ever turned off a Grey's episode before it ended. For me, this show has become one episode of unrelenting misery after another. There is no pacing. There is no brightness, optimism, cheerfulness, hope, happiness or humor. This is especially jarring because I'm rewatching Season 2, which conveys all of those things.

A couple episodes or so ago, there was a negative comment about Arizona and Eliza being a gay hookup, and then some controversy about that comment. But I had my own personal resonance with that comment because it made clear that there is absolutely no reason for these two women to be together except that they are gay. They have zero chemistry. Minnick has not been likable. In addition, she's in opposition to one of Arizona's best friends (Richard). Now Arizona is talking about her "feelings" for Minnick. What? And it's especially a problem because TPTB did something similar with Callie and Penny. Another zero-chemistry gay relationship. Like they were only together because there's such a dearth of suitable lesbians in Seattle they have no other options. In both cases, I get why the interloper is attracted to the Grey's regular. But I could never figure out what Callie saw in Penny for a long-term relationship, and I don't get what Arizona sees in Minnick for anything other than a brief fling, and a fling wouldn't happen if Arizona were being true to her friendship with Richard.

S13.E16: Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?

The only Grey's female doctor I can think of who took her husband's last name is Addison, weirdly enough. -

I was thinking that too. Even my 60-year-old friend who's a technical writer didn't change her name from her ex-husband's when she got remarried 25 years after the divorce. She'd had that name so long that she totally identified with it, and it's on a lot of published work. -

I had that same thought, and it seemed out of character for the doctors. Also, I didn't understand why they wouldn't let her write her thoughts or type them on a screen so she could communicate. -
That's what I was thinking. If he doesn't apply to schools close to Savannah, then it's like this is just a plot point for them to break up eventually?

I was wondering why people couldn't just pick up some bottles of wine at the store and then mix and match varieties. -

How come? I didn't think Robert was anybody's least favorite shark. -
I was really surprised they went in that direction with Erica and Geoff, after all that buildup and the Big Kiss in the previous episode.

Joe Walsh wears elephant pants in the Eagles Farewell 1 DVD. We figured at the time he probably bought them in Thailand. -

Where does Kurt live? I'm not sure I ever quite figured that out. -

The discussion about CBS All Access is interesting for me. I only have broadcast TV and haven't paid for TV service since the 1980s, when cable was pretty cheap. Even then I wished for an ala carte system because all I really wanted cable for was MTV. (A friend of mine got cable in the late '80s/early '90s only for ESPN.) I was thinking that paying for CBS All Access as my ala carte channel would be reasonable. -
I find it really hard to imagine Erica slouching around like this for months and wrecking her senior year over a guy she decided she likes and now can't have. How many gazillions of high school girls haven't been able to get a guy they want? Do they just give up on everything because of that?

S08.E10: Inboard Technology, Nomiku, Nootrobox, Pet Plate
Shellie replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank
Gosh, that made me laugh. Now, I have never lived with a dog that did this, but rabbit turds, deer turds, horse manure, cat litter box buffet and any other similar substance was fair game. As well as dead rotting birds and rodents, the older and more disgusting the better. And any moldy spoiled piece of food some high school kid had pitched from a lunch bag a week before. -

I had been wondering if that was the reason Robert had to give up his seat. It seemed weird otherwise that they made Robert move for the guest. My first thought in regard to the caffeine candies was that 1/4 tab of NoDoz would do the trick. Also, there's way too many other strategies for people to get some caffeine if they don't care for coffee. -

Crab rangoons are filled with warm cream cheese and I think they are delightful. -
IKR? I was disappointed her vegetarian 'phase' only lasted about 10 minutes. I quit eating meat at age 20 and it was right before Thanksgiving, and I also had that book Erica was carrying around, so I could relate. My mom was all flipped out about how my grandma would be hurt that I wouldn't be eating turkey, and I figured there's so much food besides turkey, what difference would it make. My grandma essentially did a Murray and implied that I was a moron, and I stuffed myself silly with all the other goodies on the table.

Sponges I can understand. A towel the size of a bar rag, not so much.

A friend and I have started watching Grey's from the beginning this autumn along with watching it in real time, and that makes it extra interesting that Catherine is bringing up this subject now. We're only about halfway through the first season and already Meredith has been called on the carpet for nodding off during surgery (with Preston Burke) while holding a heart and nicking it with her fingernail. I was questioning why someone who's only been an intern for about 10 minutes gets to hold a heart after she's been awake for more than 24 hrs, when it turns out that Mrs. Landingham is back in surgery and they find a towel that was left inside her five years ago, thanks to Preston Burke. A freaking towel? Nobody saw that? Not any other surgeons, surgical assistant, interns, residents, surgical technician, scrub nurse? They sewed her up and nobody noticed a towel? And Bailey doesn't want anybody to find out about Burke being the lead surgeon during that operation. And Burke has already hooked up with Cristina at this point in some utility room or other.

I agree with everybody who griped about the concept of temps in the 90s in Seattle in October. What did that plot device have to do with anything anyway? But then again, this is the same show that depicted a blizzard dumping 3 ft. of snow on southeastern Minnesota in a season premiere (assuming early September) and Cristina wearing a hooded parka. The Middle (Indiana) depicted the kids getting ready to go back to school (assuming Labor Day weekend) and Frankie raking leaves and putting up storm windows, making it look more like late October. Sometimes I think there are plenty of people working in Hollywood who've never set foot outside of the L.A. metro area.
