  1. My first thought was it's probably a bad idea to "coddle" kids this way . . . we'll let you paint your food and in return you'll agree to eat it. My folks did let me drown a couple despised meat items in A-1 sauce to mask the flavor, but we already had that in the fridge.
  2. This made me crazy because there's not yet a "cure" for Type 1 diabetes, which is what she's referring to.
  3. After reading this through twice, I remembered that Amelia also developed a tumor and needed brain surgery.
  4. It's weird but somehow I thought Link and Jo were already together as a couple. Am I not paying enough attention?
  5. I have no idea why people throw those picks in parking lots. It seems like every time I'm in a parking lot, I see at least one of those things. Are they flossing in the car or what? Can't they take it to the garbage can? Then again, I could never understand why so many people threw their face masks in parking lots and vacant lots either.
  6. I missed it if Jules said how she met her roommate? That seems like an unusual living arrangement and one I think I'd really like, as a single woman in my 60s.
  7. I couldn't agree more. I have trouble with the whole pronoun issue and I think the character of Kai could have helped me understand this better. But now I'm just disgruntled because they pushed her and Amelia together, and that makes no sense to me at all.
  8. The only way this would have been effective is if the story was written and the characters portrayed as though they belonged together all along and didn't realize it. The viewers would be cheering for them now. But it was never like that. There was no romantic chemistry. They were buddies. Plus, Linc and Amelia were great together. It's beyond annoying that the pair was split up apparently to connect Amelia and the Minnesota doctor.
  9. I was wondering today, ahead of tonight's episode, which characters and storylines I actually have an interest in. The only one is Helm working at Joe's Bar. Suddenly she's all confident and glam, and we get to hang out at Joe's Bar again.
  10. That fire sure looked like it would do a lot more than leave a hole in the roof. From what I've seen, repair work can take forever too. There's a duplex on this street in which the renters sort of blew up the garage with fireworks on July 4. Repair work didn't begin for a few months, although that might have been issues with insurance considering the circumstances. It's still not done and nobody lives there yet, so the home must have been substantially affected.
  11. Thank you. I'll look into her writing. The whole fashion thing is something I don't relate to at all, so it's mind-boggling to me. I almost never buy clothing, and it's almost never new. I wear it until it falls apart.
  12. I wasn't clear on whether it was OK to send clothing that is too worn out to resell. That would be the attraction for me. At this moment, I don't know of anywhere I can take it besides throwing it in the trash. Some of the fabric can be cut up for rags, but not everything is suitable for that. I know what you mean about thrift shops. I used to be an eBay reseller and I'd run around the region and buy lots of stuff to sell online. What was profoundly disturbing to me was seeing the back rooms at some of these stores packed to the rafters with donated clothing. There was no way it could ever all be placed in stores or sold. Where would it go? Why is there so much of it?
  13. I just watched this on the rerun last night. Even though the banana cover is unnecessary, I can still see people buying it, as consumers buy lots of unnecessary gadgets. There are snack bag clips, for instance, when clothespins do the same thing. Those rubber grippy mats for opening jars, when a fat rubber band works just as well.
  14. That may be it exactly. My little finger and index finger are four inches apart on Ctrl-V. Doing that repeatedly in a short time frame causes hand strain for me. But if I would get into the habit of using both index fingers instead, that solves the problem.
  15. It really is the dinosaurs not wanting to use the mouse, I would think. We didn't even have mouses for non-Apple computers back in the day. I was thinking about keyboard shortcuts last night when I was doing all this copy-pasting. It's because I'm highlighting a template document (ctrl-A), copying (ctrl-C) and pasting it into Scribens (ctrl-V), Grammarly (ctrl-V) and Copyscape (ctrl-V). Sometimes I'm doing this with Copyscape several times in 5 or 10 minutes. It's a lot faster than using the mouse.
  16. I liked that product although I'm not sure it's any better than what I can come up with on my own. The thing is, it's because I'm older gen that I am so fixated on using combination key presses. I spent years using WordPerfect as a full-time word processing worker, so having to move my hand ALL THE WAY over to the mouse makes me crazy. LOL. I do so much ctrl-C ctrl-V that sometimes my hand cramps up. But I can avoid that by using my two index fingers instead of using just one hand. That doesn't come as naturally, though.
  17. I also wanted to mention how rude I thought this was. Barbara can make the nastiest comments that really are uncalled for.
  18. That was my thought . . . I expected to find her a lot more annoying, but at least with what they showed, she was OK for the most part.
  19. I was thinking that even if nobody changes their mind, maybe this episode will convince some additional people to go vote for women's health rights next week.
  20. That's different than someone's life inevitably being in danger from an ectopic pregnancy. I must admit it's mind-boggling to think that legislators believe doctors should wait until the life actually is in danger rather than prevent that from occurring beforehand. The doctors know what's going to happen. Just to clarify, I am totally pro-choice and think it's outrageous that a 10-year-old rape victim has to go out of state for an abortion.
  21. I have a problem believing this woman could not find any doctor in her part of Idaho who would terminate an ectopic pregnancy. Her own doctor wouldn't, but surely there are others because technically doing so is not illegal there. The law says abortions are allowed to save the woman's life. I'm also confused about where they were going when the highway traffic got jammed up. I was thinking they could bring the woman back to Pullman, but that's only like 10 miles.
  22. For me, putting a pizza box in the refrigerator not only takes up a lot of space, but it also dries out the leftover pizza and makes it taste a bit like cardboard. I was intrigued by the container, but we mainly store leftover frozen pizza that we cut in squares. Many restaurants that serve pizza in the Green Bay area also cut them in squares. So big plastic containers work best for that. Wax paper in between levels of slices if necessary. I did not like the live show aspect at all, for reasons that have all been mentioned here already.
  23. To me, it feels like they're trying to tick the unconventional pronouns box.
