I officially hate this format. I want to see a ninja trying his or her best to conquer the course, not frantically flailing around. I've found the way FFII presents cases to be somewhat off. Not just in the choice of stories but in how they tell them. Like spending 25 minutes detailing the investigation that goes nowhere only to cram the actual solution in the last 5 minutes. Forensic scientist Henry Lee, who became famous testifying in the OJ trial, and who has gone on to appear on many tv shows and as a expert in many trials, found liable for fabricating evidence that sent two teens to prison for murder.

20 years ago there was a fast food outlet called Quiznos and they unleashed horrifying things on the world called spongmonkeys. The old TWoP commercial board was both enraged and freaked out by them for weeks. I bring this up because Quiznos is staging a comeback, and bringing the spongmonkeys along for the ride. Well good for her. 89 year old Frankie Valli marries for the 4th time. The bride is 60 and they've know each other for 16 years. No guests or wedding party. It's almost like he's not a celebrity. They got married at the Westgate hotel in Las Vegas, which was originally the International Hotel, then the Hilton Las Vegas and is still best known as the place Elvis lived and performed at.

I thought the current term was 'unhoused'. Country singer and Rubik's girl were both bad singers. Did the first one say she was in her low 20s? Because I would have sworn she was over 30. And two Rubik's Cube acts in the same show? That was a stunt, not an act. But the stagehands sure enjoyed blasting him with the fire extinguishers. Little girl dancer was cute and enthusiastic with actual talent. Didn't hate the group getting the GB. That was actually original and entertaining. Gen Z magician was also pretty good. Far too much time given to the alien ventriloquist. The show had gotten better at cutting off the bad acts. This must have been approved to air by the same producer who thought the audience enjoyed Sethward.

I was mostly neutral on Costner, although I thought he was pretty devoid of personality. For instance, look at Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Alan Rickman is acting up a storm and Costner is just...there. Like a block of wood. I also saw Waterworld when it first came out and while not a great movie it was never as bad as everyone said. But then, he fucked up The Postman. I read the book. David Brin is a wonderful writer and his Uplift series is some of the best science fiction ever written. And Costner just screwed the story completely. I am probably the only person who resents him because of that movie. Brin has talked about how much they changed but retained the soul of the story and that was enough for him. Nope, I'll just be here quietly disdainful and have never bothered to watch anything else he's been in since.

Also back, New York Homicide and Homicide for the Holidays. The first episode of NYH was a case I had seen before, the murder of Shele Covlin by her husband for her money. I though it had been on Forensic Files but couldn't find the episode. It was featured on 20/20 and Dateline NBC though, neither of which I generally watch. The husband, Rod Colvin, is a real piece of work. He staged it to look like an accident in the bathroom and there was initially no autopsy because she, and her family, are Orthodox and that is considered a violation of the body. It quickly became obvious the circumstances were suspicious and she was exhumed, the death was reclassified as a homicide. Unfortunately it still took years to actually arrest and prosecute the husband. They were divorcing and Shele had an appointment to change her will the day she was killed. He was playing backgammon games near-obsessively and cheating on her. Later, he considered killing his own parents and tried to set up his own daughter to confess to the killing to get his hands on the money. He was only arrested because he broke up with the girlfriend who had originally been his mistress when he killed Shele and she felt it would be safer to go to the police. Oh, there's a book too.
